Could 3D printing be the future of organ transplants? - BBC News

  • More than 70 years since the first successful organ transplant, a team of scientists in Gothenburg are using ‘3D bioprinting’ to replicate human organs.
Cellink have already used their technology as part of cancer treatments, to make liver models for drug screening campaigns and are helping beauty brands become animal cruelty free.
Researchers are now hoping to use bioprinted cartilage in patients with muscle issues.
There is hope that this technology could eventually help to generate organs for those needing transplants.

A 3D printing process that uses the patient's own cells to grow organs would not only potentially curb that waiting list, but dramatically reduce the chances of organ rejection and likely eliminate the need for harmful life-long immunosuppressive medication. 5:55 [Fortune]

Developing such technologies is extremely expensive. Demand from rich allows to cover the costs. When costs are covered, each new copy is chipper. Until it reaches mass production and hundred of millions can afford new treatment. That is the power of entrepreneurial capitalism. And there is no better way to develop and implement new technologies so far.
Communists and socialists are good at fair distribution of limited resources. But they are incapable of developing anything new.

The main areas where 3D printing can be adopted in medicine are the production of pharmaceuticals and transplants. In the case of artificial organ and tissue production, 3D bioprinters are used instead of typical 3D printers.
The 3D bioprinters differ from conventional 3D printers in the spectrum of the inks that they are able to print. However, 3D bioprinters are capable of printing biomaterials - live cells or cellular material, usually mixed in with polymers. This feature allows scientists to artificially create far more realistic tissue/organ structures. By Milda Alksnė, PhD 2:08 [Health News]

Bioprinting is a method that makes it possible to manufacture cellular structures from bioinks loaded with stem cells: layer by layer, the biomaterial is deposited to design skin, tissue or even an organ. Imagine a 3D printed heart, ear, lung or kidney, custom-designed with the patient's own cells. 1:32 [3Dnatives]

Cellink worked with hair follicles as far back as in 2017 without any results, and they are still stuck in the same spot. Even though it is a relatively simple biological structure, they have nothing to show. Spend two minutes listening to this CSO, and any cell biologist would immediately recognize how shallow her competence and capability is, and how immature the technology is.

I don't know if this is possible but imagine we could 3d print an animal or a human. That is gonna be weird. But this is quite amazing though.

Remember, remember the 11th of november, the day Russian fascism was stopped. Dear Ukrainian defender, you have been acting like a blender and that’s how the Russian might flopped.
Behender, behender Taiwan look in november, how Russian so called influence popped.
Dear Taiwanese preventer, look out for my bright shining lantern, together we will put dictators on their spot.
