    Good day Andy, if you may permit my gushing, my motive is one of sincere encouragement. I found your direction to paintwork particularly interesting besides the rest of the amazing work as you presented the video, I felt I was now becoming cognizant through some skilled eyes and mind with some ease. This videos work content is to me extraordinary. You present things with a contagious happiness and with a simplicity that is by no means simplistic but represents confident skill. It's a gift to be able to spread that to others. It took me back to the 1980+/- or late 1970's in the UK in a town called Tonbridge. The memory is a little fragile so I can't be exacting on the time. There was a perspex dome at the front of the theater and underneath various Star Wars models for us to see as part of the film before it started. There was a tremendous buzz of interest- and it is enduring until today. If memory serves I believe the AT-AT was one of them. The Tie fighter was clear in mind- that I am certain of. Later as I found myself in Zimbabwe at another theatre in Bulawayo there was another model display upon mirrored shelves behind the popcorn counter. That was for Return of the Jedi either in 1984 or 1986 as a rerun. This model work is actually a special art, now with CNC's and 3D printers, and in fact I find that development all the more special and definitely worthy of respect and preserving. Warm regards and best wishes on your endeavors from a raining Cape of Good Hope peninsula South Africa Friday afternoon.

    Oh wow.. I'm about to receive a studio scale AT-AT It's a custom print and great quality. The legs are solid, those self build ones are next level beautiful. Do you make those to order or sell the laser cutter files?

      Hi there, sorry for this late reply. I do have a set of replacement legs ready to go for this model. If you fancy them, just drop me a line.

    Perspex is a trade name the actual plastic is acrylic.

      @APmodels  Рік тому

      Yes sir you are correct. It just happens hat i did use perspex on this, but it is the same stuff. I prefer the cast sheet to work with than the extruded acrylic sheet. I shall choose my words a little more carefully if i remember in future. Thanks for watching Richard :-)

    where do you get the silicone tube for the neck? Id be interested in any kit/file upgrades you might offer on this, it makes a world of difference. This kind of model should be made to be posable.
    So awesome job!

      HI there, thanks robert. The neck material was supplied with the Merlin kit, so unfortunately i dont know where i would buy it on its own. I think if i were making one from scratch i would 3d print a negative mould and cast it in normal silicone sealer, just smoothed into the mould using fingers. There are videos showing the making of RC truck tyres this way. If you can 3d print , i would have a go. I can't offer any files, as the mods i designed only work as acrylic upgrades on the Merlin models version. I can offer you some acrylic upgrades for the Merlin models ATAT if you have that version. Thanks for checking the videos out. :-)

    Hi Andy, your work is outstanding. I saw your post on the RPF (my username is junkpilot) and this video adds some much to what you mentioned on the RPF. I'm half inclined to ask how much would it cost for two sets as I have two AT-ATs. I'll be watching out for more videos now.

      HI Dean. Thanks for the kind words. If you fancy your painted up, i can do that for you no problem at all. Just pop me a line on the RPF. Or just have a go and enjoy the process. Its only paint and it can be changed if you dont like it. :-)
