Good advice Rob. Im a "perch man' putting a few dozen fish over 2 lb each year on the bank, my best 4.15. My standard tactic is to fish a whip while I wait for a run on my main rod. The constant struggle and return of small silvers brings the big girls in to sit under my feet and I pick them off with lobs, prawn and lives where allowed. It is indeed about activity, activity, activity.

I get the activity going with a cloud ground bait. Mix it so that I can squirt the clouded water through a squeezy bottle into the margin. No food value but it gets the smallest prey fish into the spot. Then a prawn dropped in after leaving it 30 mins.
