For clarification D-16 (Megatron) doesn’t say “no more false Primes”, he says “no more false *prophets*”. While yes I agree the turn happened a bit too quickly, I do understand it from Megatron’s perspective. D-16 was a rule follower, always wanting to not rock the boat or step out of line. He did this in hopes of advancing up the ladder by (in his own words) “following protocol”. After discovering that the 13 Primes were dead (not just gone) and the status quo he’d knew his whole life was a lie, followed by Starcream’s statement that “all that counts is the strength of one bot over another”, it seems like Megatron (and by extension, the Decepticons) driving ideology going forward is a twisted bastardization of Darwinism and Meritocratic philosophy. Orion’s resurrection and transformation into Optimus Prime further pushed him by way of him feeling forsaken and betrayed by Primus himself. The way he says “Impossible... Primus gave you the Matrix!?” was in such a confused and later angry manner. From Megatron’s perspective, he galvanized the High Guard, he stood up to and defied Sentinel, he executed the deceiver for his betrayal, and he sought to “burn down” the oppressive regime that the false Prime had built and punish all those who helped him maintain the sham. And yet, after doing all that, what does he see? Primus in his divine wisdom having bestowed the Matrix of Leadership (essentially the Transformers’ equivalent of Excalibur/the Holy Grail) to Orion/Optimus. Megatron’s speech during the post-credits cements that the tenants of Decepticonism will be founded and defined on how the Decepticons (and Megatron specifically) weren’t divinely handed anything, they struggled and fought for what they’ve achieved. It’s by their own hands and theirs alone that they earned what they believe is their right.
1:34:12 "Bay fans are the new geewuners" That's so fucking true and im saying this as a BIG bayverse fan. Like you don't understand how upset i got because of the reactions i saw about the first TF ONE trailer on Instagram where bay fans tend to be alot at. (yes i was excited about the movie from the very beginning).
I've NEVER seen Perspective as a "Negative" transformers fan. I have always interpreted him as passionate about what he enjoys and highly analytical, opinionated even, but how anyone could interpret him as hating Transformers One and not wanting it to succeed from that just blows my mind.
he in recent time has become one of my go to reviewers because like you said he's very hyper critical about transformers where as other reviewers (whether for finicial reasons or what) praise every single thing and not everything is perfectly made from hasbro.
I would add that the self-building roadways are a nod to RID/Car Robots, especially how they would constantly create loop de loops like in the show's opening.
Fun fact! SO many people that seen this movie with me, ive been 3 times with diff people, they had no idea D-16 was megatron, cuz all they know are Live Action movies, so they were suprised at the end
I don't get when people are so rude to someone else's opinions. Like if you HAVE to disagree with someone about something so small, then at least make it constructive. If you are gonna be rude, then there is no reason to post. Basic online etiquette. I commented under the tweet about the stretchy-ness with the gif about how its kinda cool and adds to the mechanical nature, but focusing on it can make it look uncanny. But I meant it with pure constructive criticism and respect. Keep doing what you are doing PE, you can say you always give me a different PERSPECTIVE on things :)
On the point of Optimus shrugging off Megatron's blasts after the Matrix power-up, it reminds me of that scene in the G1 episode War Dawn where the newly-in-the-past rebuilt Optimus confronts Megs and the latter's fusion cannon just glances off. And as anyone who watched the 86 movie or played the first level of Fall Of Cybertron knows, Transformers is wildly inconsistent with weapons damage depending on story needs.
Something that caught my attention in the movie, and I think Brian will appreciate this, is that Alpha Trion had such a Bionicle look to him. His head was very mask-like and his presence felt very Bionicle.
I have a dumb theory about cycles (which is a mistake, albeit a small one for a multitude of reasons; unclear timescale, etc.) I think they actually wrote "megacycles" in an earlier draft, but they were concerned that audiences would get confused with between that, Megatronus, and Megatron. It's arbitrary but something that silly has happened in other scripts for similar reasons. They might not have thought to change it to Astrocycles or something even more esoteric.
On cycles meaning minutes: the argument is that 95~ percent of the time cycles has meant minutes with the only exceptions being one off moments by writers who probably aren’t super familiar with the franchise, so when a new continuity changes a long running (since the 90s) pre-established part of the lore without a logical and necessary reason / explanation (like if animated said autobots can’t fly after years of them flying while giving zero explanation) it feels illogical. Can you imagine if in Star Wars they just up and decided that Anakin is wasn’t the only child conceived of the force (ya know, the thing unique to him being the chosen one that was established around 25 years ago) and all of a sudden some random character with no significance to the overarching story is also just conceived by the force? Oh wait….

@@_HON3Y_13_ this is a good reflection, I feel you here. Personally I was introduced to G1 and the Bayverse around the same time and while I do prefer the former a little, both hold a place in my heart. The “everything after my fave sucks” mentality is really toxic
50 years makes sense because the High Guard witnessed Sentinels betrayal. They are actively fighting him and if it were over a thousand years one side would’ve probably won already
Ngl I think Shockwave’s portrayal is kinda okay. I feel people think of him too much as the Marvel G1 or post-Dreamwave iterations of the character when the original G1 cartoon character was a big of a nerd. I think Elita taking the piss out of him was a callback to G1 and the episode with the female Autobots. : P Also, I wonder if Nexus Prime is perhaps a reference to the whole “Blitzwing’s weird connection to the Quintessons and TF pre-history” thing from the G1 cartoon.
D-16's upgrade with Megatronus is just a sidegrade, since he already had a prime's transformation cog. The Megatronus cog may be more powerful than the other prime's cog, but certainly not to the extent that the Matrix of Leadership upgrades Optimus's form.
I agree with perspective on the first trailer, and like to me it was OBVIOUS the tone was gonna be different upon watching the movie based on the premise alone

Seen this before with Japanese fans and other casual fans cause of Earthspark.
I don't think that's true, and there are some hateful chud bigots in the fandom. All the account said was the PE was being negative and I can't blame them for thinking that. I, as his friend, was not even sure if he was being negative or positive.
@@BackKibblePodcast idk, I barely seen PE videos outside BackKibble Podcast and when I've seen tweet, I viewed it as neutral. And overall, may misremember, but "crazy ass moments" focused negativity on Flame Toys Windblade designer/fans. There is a reason: Bayverse changed people's perception of the franchise from harmless kids' fun to mind-numbing violence, explosions, collapsing buildings, Megan Fox and sex jokes. So Hasbro trying to sell TF as kids' fun after all that is not going to make parents take their kids to see TF1 which the stats show, but also turns away Bayverse fans. This is why the movie is flopping.
