My biggest pet peeve is people who hang on to MSF concepts for their entire riding career. When somebody is behind me in the twisties and say “I kept seeing your brake lights going into the corners, my instructor said that’s bad!” The MSF course is not the end all be all and too many people treat it as such.
The instructor usually giving several tips during the test. I failed this test two times and finally made it on the third time (in my country you need to wait at least 2 weeks before re-do the test). The third time I tried it, the instructor gave me some useful tip about how to do it.
figure8 is license test in my country, even harder. There're lines on the ground, very tight (about 39 inches), we do not let the wheel touch the line, at first we need to enter the line by the gate and turn right immediately, like almost 90 degree to start the figure 8. Bcs the road is tiny and the bike is long, we need to keep the first wheel to close the line to make sure the rear wheel not touch on the other line. After all we have to run figure 3 in the same road to get out, and of course at the end we have to turn ~90 degrees again to going out.
In the UK we have to continually do a figure 8 until the assessor is happy we are in control of the bike (maintaining roughly 2m from the cones) could be two figure 8 could be ten 😀
Good stuff. I would love to see you do an entire video on why people get screwed buying from dealerships. People really need to understand that and I see videos touching on it, but not flushing it out fully.
I don't get it either, used 400s with 5k miles sell for 5k and a brand new 2023 400 sells for 5.3k plus fees and tax, so probably 6k, just simply negotiate for 5k after all said and done, now you have a brand new bike for cheaper than a used one
My first time on a motorcycle i almost crashed into a car because i didn’t understand the concept of braking on a motorcycle. In my class I asked so many questions about braking and the way you avoided accidents. It’s scary to think that you would need to slam on the brakes on a motorcycle. It’s very scary
My state had us pull out of the dmv, go to the end of the road, turn around, and park.. as long as signals are used, and not tip toeing through the parking lot it’s a pass. And we wonder why we have a high mortality rate here.
because we function on a go learn it yourself model yeah, the msf course is great for learning beginner concepts and maneuvers but it provides 0 road experience or how to cope at higher speeds heck i barley ever left 1 gear for mine
@@purpleguy5226in the beginning of my class it was all 1st gear, then I asked if I could shift and they said as long as I wasn’t being dangerous i could. But yeah pretty much the fastest I went in my class was 25 and it was for 2 seconds. I like the idea of knowing low speed maneuvers but, I rode over a year before my class and the only tangible thing is learning leaning and the brake pressures. Clutch control is good, for absolute beginners. But you pick that stuff up quick. I didn’t come out of the class with knowledge i didn’t already have on the road. I did it just for the license 🤣
In Romania you need to do three 8’s clockwise and three counterclockwise, and once you’ve done them correctly you basically start the final prep for the exam
The whole course for me was pretty easy, though the bikes were so small that i had to stick my leg out to turn because my legs are so long that it woul interfere with my handle bars when turning
It's as hard as you make it also Adobe I asked my instructor why every rider gets to take this course even if they never rode a bike well u could just say it tells them stay off the road but won't keep them from it but shows them they need more time I seen wild stuff in my class haha
They dont tell us this when we start the course. They just expected us ti be able to get it done right away after we were told what to do. I took the course and failed. I got exhausted and ran out of water and they told me to go home. I had to complain to somebody above them to get my money back.
I thought the 2 day learner test in Australia was simple. However if that’s the hardest part of the American system then Wow! Meaning, they might as well just give you a pass for turning up. No riding between two narrow lines about 2 feet wide, 15 yards long in under 10 seconds without touching a line or putting your feet down, no emergency braking at a predetermined speed stopping before you hit a cone, no practice riding on the streets, obeying all the laws with an instructor riding behind the group…. The figure 8 is done first. 😂
The cones are roughly 3-3 1/2 feet apart, and the blue box is roughly 6x10 pretty much a rectangle. My advice and the coaches advice would be to look at the entry cones when you do the left uturn, and the exit cones on the right uturn. Always look where you want to go and don’t let your mind sike your eyes out. Your eyes will get you where you want. Trust yourself.
So there are a bunch of companies especially near me that teach the BRC(the msf course for license beginner), BRC2(kind of a extra class for beginners transitioning to intermediate), and IRC Total Control(Teachs low speed/medium speed leans and much more complicated techniques good for track training)
Same, I did great on everything else even in practice my figure 8s were great. Just the heebie jeebies of the test made me mess up. I got 3 points for my foot touching the ground but I passed.

That course saved my life, crazy how what they tell you will kick in during an emergency even just hearing it once

MSF is only good for slow speed maneuvers.

I honestly had zero problems with the u turn box, but the hardest damn time not clipping the cone weave with my rear tire.

i never did it as they dont require it in california anymore. The better schools still do it but there are months waiting time for them.
MSF saved my life for sure. Just be patient make sure to turn your head and look exactly where you want to go.
In the UK you have to do 3 without stopping or putting you feet down or it's a fault. you guys have it so easy....

I thought that part was pretty easy, the hardest part for me was the quick stop. Just didn’t learn threshold braking well enough

8 is easy , but for me avoid the cone it's hard , how can I mastered it? I don't want to fail
You don’t fail if you touch the line or put foot down you fell if you drop the bike or stall the bike 3x

lol this is 5 months late, but WE do HAVE all of those too this is just what most ppl here have trouble with
easy, we have same.
Any idea how big the box is for the double U-turns? How far apart are the cones that you must swerve through?
The cones are roughly 3-3 1/2 feet apart, and the blue box is roughly 6x10 pretty much a rectangle.

Bro if I get any sportbike, I wanna take every course to just learn everything I can. But the only one I know is msf. ?
So there are a bunch of companies especially near me that teach the BRC(the msf course for license beginner), BRC2(kind of a extra class for beginners transitioning to intermediate), and IRC Total Control(Teachs low speed/medium speed leans and much more complicated techniques good for track training)
Love the content bubba
This is required in the Netherlands to get youre motorcycle license
What U just told us is basic vehicle operation shit in europe when gettin ur license
What’s your MOS Bro?
The figure 8 was easy the slow speed slalom is a trouble
My foot touched the ground once in the figure 8. I didn't fail, I just lost points.
Same, I did great on everything else even in practice my figure 8s were great. Just the heebie jeebies of the test made me mess up. I got 3 points for my foot touching the ground but I passed.
Stay in the friction zone for the 8
Judging by my class, the emergency stop was the hardest part 🤔
same for me fig 8 was ez but that quick stop lol brakes were stiff like me in the mornings lol
Doing a figure 8 on a sportbike is a female dog 🤣🤣🤣
No its not
Bro it’s not that hard stop scaring people 😂
