  • Time to get back to Elm Creek and checkout the new jump features that have been added. Fast flow, tables, and wood features add some spice to a very beginner friendly trail.

    That’s my home trail and I had no idea that jump existed next to the pond at the bottom of Grizzland, nor that wooden drop in the right most line in the Power Line Jumps. Looks like I have a couple of new toys to play with there!
    People can have nasty, gnarly rocks all they want. I like going fast and either jumping or dropping off of things.

    Elm could continue to be improved if more people would volunteer n trail night. It takes a lot just to keep elm trimmed which doesn’t leave much time for features. Great vid like always!

      Every trail system needs volunteers. I've done a couple days at Lone Lake but it is hard to make it out there consistently. Maybe when the kids are out of school I'll have more time for trail work.

      My new invention, the Round-Up Suit[tm] fixes that. Before the ride, soak the patented suit in our special MTB blend of Round-Up, ride the trail and anything you touch gets Round-Uped. Brought to you by the trails division of Monsanto. This is satire. Round-Up is horrible stuff. Volunteer at your local trails!

    Good stuff Brian. I like the new drops in Grizzland. Also the jumps in CJ's Trail are a blast.

      Thanks So I feel those have been a bit run down. The first and third one I don't get much air (if any) on.

    Great video! If I lived in the North Metro, I would him Elm Creek as often as possible, but I'm so close to Leb and Murphy I end up there most times.

      I feel the same way about Leb and Murphy. I do get about 6 or 7 rides at Elm a year. It is nice they keep changing it up. It had gotten a bit stale to me a few years back but these changes have liven it up for me.

    Love me some grizzland. Those two drops are new; I did like the down tree skinny that was here before it. Someone also posted to the neibor hood site that a mountain lion was spotted in the park. That’s a little spooky.
    It was neat running into you in Duluth the other day! Let’s keep riding till the snow flys brother.

      It was good running into you guys, That downed tree was interesting. I only did it a couple times but I think those drops work better. I'll be riding till they say I'm not allowed.
      My weekend plans are always a bit in flux. I tend to talk myself out of some rides very last minute. After doing the driving math I realized Split Rock Wilds wouldn't work. I really need to stay up there to make that ride work.

      @benstein846 Рік тому +1

      The downed tree had to go. Rotting out and caused some crashes. I'm a fan of the new drops. The crew did a great job and the landing is smooth.

      @@benstein846 Good to hear it’s riding well and a suitable replacement. That tree skinny was very unique, and fun to ride, along with others in the park that have become too rotted to ride safe. I wonder if there’s a suitable coating that could be put on these tree features to preserve them in the future..

    Well that's new (7:45). Elm Creek has needed a non-threatening drop for ever.

    • @BrianVaughn
      @BrianVaughn  Рік тому +1

      And there are three of them. The landing is pretty good and that downward slope helps you get speed for the drop.

    "At least I'm trying them". Yup, I go to Elm a couple times a week and never even try to jump. Interesting watching someone else ride this trail since I've ridden it so much. Obviously I have some work to do on my speed. Ya look really quick out there.

      I know this trail well since I've been riding there for years. I know where to pedal to keep my speed up and minimize the climbs.

    Hahaha! Yes man made tech use put there to piss me off too! Natural tech rules, but I guess when you don’t have the natural terrain you gotta make it…elm looks pleasantly fun!

    • @BrianVaughn
      @BrianVaughn  Рік тому

      Elm Creek is getting better. It's very flat so you really need to pedal. They started putting in little tables to help spice it up. The man made tech is very prevalent in the metro.

      So I think GoPro released a patch when the 11 came out and several people are having issues. I hear it mostly from Hero 11 users but that makes me wonder if it is software. It is always frustrating when you put in the time and it didn't work. I wasn't planning on riding Elm Creek on Sunday so you guys lost out on another video. I had plans to record Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

    It's been so long since I've been out there. Fall is good time to go because those sight lines open up as the leaves fall off the trees. Always a bummer to loose footage.

      They have made some nice additions to liven up the trails. Yeah, losing that footage made me change my weekend plans. Still I was probably better off not taking on a larger ride. I just didn't want to risk losing that footage too.

      @@BrianVaughn I'm intrigued by that new Hero 11 mini. I wonder if it would make a good second camera. But it doesn't seem that much smaller or that much cheaper. Waiting on some more reviews before I pull the trigger.
