      His historical coach is french, sometimes on court you can hear him speak in french if he's talking towards his box.

    I found it rude from the French journalist to want at all cost make him say that the exclusion of Russian athletes from the Olympics opening ceremony is unfair.Very smart of Daniil not to fall into the trap.
    I wish they would leave him alone for a while!

    @4:41 so touching this message! he knows his roots, and chose a very subtle way to state it! You can take away the flag, but not the soul! One would think being in France for so long, Meddy would have forgotten his roots, sometimes I see Russian comments saying how he speaks Russian with accent now, and it feels a bit distant. But I am happy to hear he does not succumb to MSM and is being honest with himself in a very subtle, diplomatic way! Go Meddy!

      Sad thing is that even many Russians have started to pick on him on his social media, precisely because he chose (in their opinion) to humiliate himself by participating in the Olympics. They tell him to be ashamed, they call him a bum, a homeless man, a beggar and so on...

    Medvedev's attitude has changed a lot in a positive way! At the beginning of 2024, I remembered at AO pre-event press conference, he promised he would become more mature, and he has kept his promise so far. No more complaint on the surface, even the Indian Wells hard court is really bizarre, he controlled his frustration quite well. When he lost to Sinner and Alcaraz, he just accepted the defeat that they are the better players. He now looks completely clam and wise, but secretly we always miss the goofy and petulant Meddy.

    • @LeviMatteo
      @LeviMatteo 5 місяців тому +9

      Personally, I don't think he's changed that much. I mean, off the court and in interviews he has always been calm and mature, and on the court there have been moments of hilarious surrealism this year either. The scene with Rune at Indian Wells made me die laughing. By the way you're right, I also hope that he never changes

      @@tamnatalie3 I don't think he'll ever be able to change his attitude in the court much, no matter how hard he tries. That's how he is.
      Furthermore, I personally don't think that changing would benefit him, and I definitely like him the way he is!

    People may not know that Daniil permanently moved to France with his parents at age 18 to join Gil’s tennis academy, and they all have lived there ever since.

      Actually he speaks French like someone who lived in a francophone country at a young age - but I would have said even younger than 18, his accent is great.

      The questions French journalists ask him are only about the Olympics. First they ask him if the tension between France and Russia, and the particular situation he will find himself in as a Russian athlete, could somehow cloud his joy in participating in this event. He replies that his expectations are only positive, but that he actually cannot know beforehand whether all the limitations to which he will be subjected (playing without a flag etc...) will possibly have a negative impact on him.
      Then they talk to him about the fact that Russian athletes will be excluded from the opening ceremony, and ask him if he finds it unfair. At first he responds in a generic and diplomatic way, without actually saying whether he finds it unfair or not. When the journalist insists on asking him to say if he finds it unfair, Daniil says clearly that there are many unfair things in life, but that he prefers not to give his opinion on this particular issue so as not to risk being misunderstood.
      In my opinion it is very clever of him to remain vague. The situation is so serious that I don't even want to imagine the shit that would be thrown at him if he just let something slip about the unfair treatment towards Russian athletes...
