- Equinox is the first major expansion for EVE in 2024, aiming to reinvigorate nullsec space by introducing new Upwell structures allowing capsuleers to harness planetary resources, customize their sovereign space, automate income from moon mining, and more. The development team discusses some of what’s in store in the new expansion, so you can find out what to expect when Equinox launches on 11 June.

Eve, the game you keep tabs on but old memories keep you away.
Ill return once walking in stations comes
Amen.
Yeah I'm the same, I loved this game but whenever I try and play it now it just feels like it's different colored squares and circles flying about, all the ships are so far away, there's no cinematic feel to the game which is a shame because it always looks incredible in the promo videos.
Hearing what the devs are excited about is a great reminder that they’re players too. I know that’s historically complicated, but it makes me happy to know that the players really do have a seat at the table.
Now, if you could open an office in the us that would be great! I’d love to work with you too!
I thought Dev's were only employed on the understanding they don't play the actual game?
@@CMDR_Verm Nah, they do play the game, however are told that they must keep Developer characters anonymous. If their identity ever becomes compromised they need to go internally and say. Yeah, my toon is now known as a dev account.
Actually, scratch even that. Since 2019, they havent even needed to do that.
They can just go public if they want.
They need to tell Internal Affairs first, but after that they can do whatever
@@Hawkwreak fair enough. I stand corrected, thanks.
@@CMDR_Verm oh but boy is there some fun history. If you want a fun romp, read the history of eve volume 1 book; it’s incredible!
Eve is slowly turning into Stellaris.
I rather like it.
the skyhook looks like homeworld 3 mothership
I was thinking about OGame
Love it!
I could see worse things happening to the game.
If Vanguard is a success, we are sooo IN 🙌
its bound to happen. I play since 2003 and most of the players have my age. We are boomers looking for deep content in our daily eve work. This is not some quick fortnite dopamine fix for generation Z or alpha. I would love it if eve turns into Stellaris. I love that game.
Great to see that Eve Online still getting Massive High Quality Update, Keep up the Great Work CCP 💯
I really wouldn't say high quality
Everything shown in this video looks so exciting we cannot wait for the expasion to go live. Alliance management will finally have much more exciting stuff to do with much better overviews of the current state, so they will have much more enjoyable gameplay and planning, while even line members will still have new stuff in almost every are of gameplay in null, let it be mining, ratting , transporting or pvp and new way to provoke combat. This looks like one of the biggest and best expansion for nullsec players ever. Even if half the stuff would be added, it would still be awesome 😍
eventually they will realize high sec solo is where they can get new players and money/accounts
No, they need to motivate the 60 toons slave gamers for 20+ new accounts. -____-
Overengineering existing systems... high quality update lul
I haven't played EVE since 2017 but I guarantee the same names still dominate null sec
They do. Theres nothing you can do when the people that control null sec are actually wealthy irl. EVE is just a reflection of their alter ego.
you mean Goons and Pandemic Horde? Yup
how about making it so that lived in nullsec has to have an activity tracker to retain sov, IE if its not being actively used you cant hold it
Couldn't be more excited for all this. I've been basically waiting years for the time to be able to play this game again.
Why do people in this video sound like soulless automatons?
What reading directly from a script and having none of your own personal spin put on it does to a person. Most of the people in this video probably don't do any sort of customer-facing positions so it shows when they kinda have that robotic "I'm just reading the script" tone.
Agreed, for all the fancy words I noted a definite lack of passion like you saw in older videos.
Its like watching a hostage video
Very beautiful UI design 😮
Excellentee. NOw add station visit back to beatiful New Eden and then i return as forever Sub adventurer 🧘♂ I wish good May to whole Eve Online crew 🤞
We need more videos like this!
Interesting that the moon drill is available in lowsec! I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to experience any of this expansion since I prefer a solo lowsec nomadic lifestyle
Great work CCP! Thanks for all you do
I don't know much about nulsov but holy shit CCP put a ton of effort into this. The thinking, the gameplay, the graphics. Jeez all these new structures look gorgeous.
Hopefully CCP also includes the Planetary Industry Quality of Life patch in this expansion. Its a part of EVE that's incredibly badly needing some updating and tender loving care.
I can't wait to play with the new toys!!
If this dident feel like a 2nd jobb i would play it hands down!
I can be one, but ultimately its your choice you can still play casually.
So is this going to break Officer Spawns? Is Officer hunting no longer going to be a thing and can only get them in these new sites? Or is it an addition to how officers work now?
Bring back our massive ore anoms I.stopped playing soon as my null sec mining operation got shafted a few years back lol
Will Hisec PI remain the same, or will PI be shifting over exclusively to nullsec? I am hoping that the old system stays in place for solo/small groups that don't, won't, or can't use these new Skyhooks.
I am over the moon about everything else in the video though; the IHUB and Alliance UI changes in particular look amazing, especially with that blurb about being able to pick and choose ore spawns. I've been playing for 15 years and this update is what's finally convincing me to join a nullsec empire.
from my understanding all the updates are an expansion and none of the old pi will be going away.
These changes look really good. They specifically help smaller groups, and will give opportunities to do smaller gang warfare. Really awesome
Do you know anything? Passive income that requires no time other than cost of fuel. Null mega empires just got a 50% boost to thier income while cutting player income out from moons and planets
I would like to think so yes.
If these get combined with a powerprojection nerf like ansiplexes, this will make it possible for smaller groups to prosper, because they can pay SRP from moons like this.
This will result in fewer mandatory crabbing ops (which are not a content driver because no rorqual dies when there are 1000 in fleet and the supers are on standbye).
Smaller groups wont have the players to do crabbing ops, or live off taxes, and can sustain off moons like these. This will lead to more smaller alliances, more spread out playerbase, and less blockification.
The possibility to rob, and the fact that it will only be 1 short timer, makes it easy to bait fights, and it will be a great content driver.
I for one welcome our equinox overlords.
@@xarayac they aren't nerfing ansiblexes
@@umadbroimatroll7918 Assuming they can defend it. Everything I'm seeing about this update, shows that expanding as far as the null empires have, is going to be immensely harder, if not impossible. This is going to open up regions where the major blocs CAN'T project power to, and even if they can, it's costly, time-consuming, and ultimately not worth it, and repeated raids will make them just say 'fuck it' and leave the moons alone. And then boom, you now have a small group cutting a portion of territory away from the big guys.
One day...one day I hope they revisit the whole 'walking in station'. I really just want to have my Firefly / Cowboy Bebop fantasy made manifest.
Like imagine the possibilities....you're the owner of a nullsec station. Do you turn it into a 'wretched hive of scum and villainy'. Where you can literally get shanked anywhere. Or into an ultra-modern; top of the line in security...'a shining beacon in space, all alone in the night'.
Might even get a 'crew'. Use to play a Shockwave game called SpacePirates. And having a good crew made all the difference. Plus you could board and raid ships with said crew. -- Ya, I always found it funny how the ship's AI could do everything a crew of 10k+ could do, but somehow needs 'me' to pilot the damn ship.
Ships are cool, but it gives the game a more RTS feel.
How will this be implemented in NPC null?
I dont think it will.
Infrastructure won't but maybe you can still extract from planets and moons? The passive moon miner they said attackers can place their own, which clearly shows you do NOT need sov to place them.
badly?
@@wingspantt We currently do PI in NPC null with our own POCOs to eliminate tax, so if the same basic sov rules transfer over, I am hoping we can continue more or less as we are. With more danger, of course!
Can still use the skyhooks and moon drills, just no sov structure. Moon drills will actually be able to be deployed in lowsec and jspace too. Skyhooks are just nullsec and the sov hubs are just sov null.
6:36 what's the cynosaural module? does it allow you to train dinosaurs to attack enemy planets?
cynosaural fields create a target for ships with jumpdrives to directly travel to, bypassing gates. This is the primary mode of travel for capital ships.
@@EnkiduShamesh Check the spelling 😎
This looks amazing!
station games are back on the menu? good.
Let's hope this will make rental space harder
Let's hope this will make Delve and Querious harder now the NPC delve dwellers will have many more options to harass. It will be great.
@@wingandaprayer883 Every smaller group should be able to annoy the larger ones. Citadels have made nullsec far too safe.
everytime i see the name querious i get home sick... used to be my home for several years back when alliances were introduced
@@pinktfatrabbit Well, it's all a matter of perspective isn't it. Most nullsec is very far from safe. You just want the game changed to make it easier for your personal goals.
@@wingandaprayer883 What are you talking about? Eve is a game where losing counts.
this all looks great!
So if planets require resources from suns/stars, would the next level in titanic buildings now be possible?
I tend to wonder how far Eve needs to progress the story/age for players to finally create a Dyson Sphere...
Triglavs already use suns energy
no jove space expansion still good
All sounds great, just disappointed there's very little love towards solo players and those who reside in high-sec, maybe one day we'll get an expansion that focuses on that.
How long have you been playing solo?
@@Hennheirr Since 2003.
I'm still hoping for dynamic/procedurally-generated high sec missions at the very least. Shouldn't be too hard to implement-especially in this age of AI-generated content.
@@Drascylla Couldn't agree more. Solo player since 2015
@@56-ish It just bothers me because planetary interaction is a system that spans the whole breath of the game which could have greatly benefited from this update in general. Yet CCP once again with anything involving the act of building structures and they limit it to corps and low/null-sec. I understand they want to encourage collaborative/social play. However, at the same time there are people like myself who are genuinely anti-social and just want to play these types of games for their scale/scope.
Cool beans!
can i attack skyhooks planetside with wanguards?
Would be nice to see a video on the Orbital Blockade and new capital anoms.
"The first installment of Equinox in Focus" implies there will be more. Orbital Blockades and cap anoms are probably in one of those.
Some additional PVE content for capitals would be very welcome.
Nice.
What am we going do with all the faction POS? Will u trade it for a faction structure?
hey look another expac for the 1%
Unfortunately the 1% is the one keeping the game alive. Those whales that control null sec are wealthy irl and ccp is milking them. So the game has to create content for that crowd or die.
Come out an join a group in null, its not hard. we have brand new people join all the time.
@Xalecx1710 You mean new slaves which has to rent space for having fun.
your getting closer to the final sov change that is needed, balancing security like locking a system gates to none members and system value in resource generation
Locking a system to none alliance members? Are you crazy, thats like locking 90% of the map off to the average player so these rich alliances can print ISK in complete peace with no one to challenge them. Terrible idea.
@@thomasgriffin9267My complete vision involves doubling the 0.0 systems and ensuring that none have fewer than four gates to eliminate choke points. Sovereignty is dependent on infrastructure and time, system by system. By developing all systems within three jumps of the capital, a minimum of 53 star systems, you can begin to influence the gate crews. This influence allows you to start restricting the number and tonnage of non-allied ships until you completely isolate the system. However, as the systems are developed and secured, the value of rats and resources tends to decrease, similar to what occurs in empire space.
Hacking to steal stuff? Thats a neat idea. Now I need them to roll out a hauler with hacking bonuses
hell yeah
the automated moon changes I am unsure about I get flash backs of POS moon mining when certain groups had all the good moons
Partially yes, but you can already install an old moon miner at the good moons and mine manually. This is just an option to that, where you don´t need manpower, but also get less yield out of it. Good for those who don´t have mining ops to get max value out of a moon.
Also, there aren´t such over valuable moons like we had back at the Tech-Moon times
@@Gosti85and none of the large groups will do that. Why get a mining corp in your alliance when you can just put up passive mining and cut them out fully, you no longer need to give a share to miners, 100% goes straight to alliance. And if any small alliances try to take that passive income, they get 30 supers dropped on them. Did you not play eve back in 2016 and before? Passive moon mining is horrible.
@@umadbroimatroll7918 Depends on the number. Assuming that this passive mining gives you about 10% of what active mining gives you, then I don´t think that it will fully take over active moon mining.
Bring back the quarters
Is it too late to get a new mining ship?
wish we had an agancy screen like that for PI ngl
No more faction forts on ihub grids? Sweet :)
To 1DQ we go again :uwu:
if they had added some sort of communications tower that allowed local channel and could be fked with id be happy
Wow
I got here damn fast.
This is awesome.
CCP Mercury сould you make more D-SCAN preset filters that I can't edit? 22 is not enough for a comfortable game. I would like about 50
god the preset filters have screwed my dscan game... i hate them, used to have current and all at the top now i have to scroll for 'all'...
these changes don't mean much unless ccp nerfs ansiblexes
not bashing, just something be more personal when talking to us pilots look at the Camera and not the screen prompt, i know you are giving a lot of information which would be hard to memorizing which is not what i am asking, maybe move the Camera to where the promper is so it (looks like the reader is looking at us and not obviously a promper.) It's a minor thing and probably most don't care but that little bit makes a big difference
exactly lmao they better use AI next time at least AI looks in the camera AI will rule za world lol
They use a Filming company when they do these. So it was a stylistic choice
Combat site for capitals... I hope they make them worthwhile to run. I want the return of whaling.
Does this bring much to the solo non-pvp orientated player?
How much content is solo non-pvp player having in nullsec anyways?
@@Veganoto Not much. Mining is a pain because of rat spawns, otherwise the isk/hr is really low outside of moons. You could spin an ishtar. Exploration is okay money if you can find the relic sites that aren't event ones. And that's about it.
@@InvokeZeroguess what? No moon mining for you anymore! It's all going to be passive mined by the alliances. Every moon.
Let me give you a brief update. No.
@@InvokeZero you just explained all of eve. Not just null.
It took 21 years but they finally found a use for those maintenance organisms on the planet surfaces.

Holy crap...
I don't hate you for this
We getting kernite back in null guys
God I hope so, I'm so sick of looking at Arkonor and Bistoat as far as the eye can see. I'm just hoping these new belts spawn other rocks at bigger sizes than 5-7k m3. It feels like such a waste of time trying to clear them out, like you're just trying to get them out of the way so the site respawns.
@InvokeZero based on how its being communicated. I believe you can pick certain anoms like small ore specific anoms
Anyone remember custom skins announced several years ago and yet here we are.........
Literally a feature in Equinox, the skinr system for citadels applied to ships
@lynkfox that's my point this was announced years ago when Fozzie sov was introduced and yet here we are.
Hm let's make orbital station WITH NO SECURITY! It's such realistic decision especially in null sec. How many ppl will get to play with this toys 1% ore less? 2024 jumps through gates are still leaps of fate.
This looks interesting.
This has nothing to do with the video, I've never even played Eve Online but recently became fascinated by it. Does anyone know if there is a page somewhere on the internet dedicated to the lore? I don't mean the NPC Empires but the lore of the major and smaller players/factions throughout the years. I think I've spent 15 hours looking for information on it but can't seen to find anything barring the most famous 2/3 conflicts.
Most of the content news and lore happens ingame with some channels like The Pulse in youtube and the big fights remain silently in null space. EVE is didvided in two games. The high security space game with missions and lore and the null security space territory control with huge alliances that fight each other for such control and resources. This expansion is dedicated to that 1% of players that control null sec and unfortunatelly but true is the group of people that keep the game alive. The heads of these alliances are whales in game with unimaginable wealth because they are wealthy irl and use plex at their convenience to pretty much have unlimited isk. I play since 2003. Sry for the essay. o7
@@Taneth21 I don't really mind a long response. I'm a bit saddened by the fact there is no place dedicated to nullsec politics, history etc. Would love to hear stories about it, especially from the earlier periods where there is little information.
High security spaces with in-game lore don't really sound as fun as the nullsec regions where players write their own history.
As a non-nullsec player, I have no idea what any of this means as it has no effect on me.
This all looks great, just please don't make it to trolly.
So is this the end of Fozzy SOV??
Will systems loose SOV if their structure goes into low power since it requires fuel to run now?
I think I'm looking forward to stealing your stuff the best part of this update!
All nice and lovely but for us High-Sec guys (13 years now playin eve) some of us want more high-Sec Content

was really hoping for a new mining ship
@@Justdizzy Same, I love the potential of these new changes, but I was really hoping for one of those new ships to be a battleship class mining ship. I love the hulk, but it's been king for 20 years, it's time for something new.
I think you don't realize how important Nullsec gets some changes......if you played in Nullsec you would understand why. Essentially nullsec is being taken over by renters and its actually killing the game. Without nullsec changes EVE Online will actually die since a majority of the active player base lives in nullsec.
@@InvokeZero Agree strongly. Since all I do is mine I'd love something new to play with.

@@fraserduthie5853. Just because you can do it doesn't mean that it will be done, you need a transporter for larger quantities. Of course stupid if you are offline during this time
pocos still in npc space? or am i rarted
Yeah, the skyhook will replace the POCO's on the planets that we'll be pulling the new materials from. And on those planets, it looks like us normal PI guys will be using them the same as if they were POCOs.
- More sov customization is nice... allow the players to actually own the space and not "lease" it from Concord
- Some PI update? Even a "restart extraction" button in PI planet window would be an epic improvement... Or automating the transfer of products from planet to poco/ the new structure.
- Will the new combat site actually be capital viable or something similar to the krab "please come and kill me, beacon is lit and I'm stuck for 5 minutes, here is my location on the map" and/ or littered with small npc's that take longer to kill than battleships?
Well, it's your own fault if you make krabs with a capital and not in a super :D
The new Capital Combat Sites Looks :you can only make wen Prime Time and Standing fleet Is online
Still now new of the new haulers.....
I played for fun EVE became more like work and then they put up the subscription price and restricted the amount of ships Alpha could use..( nit even a mining barge).
Too many deployables too.
None of these changes will bring in new players !
CCP You have made a game into a job!
Why is everyone looking off screen when they talk?
Gotta pay attention to all those alts.
Script reading, it's the same on the news they are looking to the left/right side of the camera where a text is scrolling down and they can read from it
@@H1LOL to see if nereus is in range!
they’re reading off a script prompter. Normally, though, the prompts would be positioned directly above or beneath the camera, so that the subject is still looking in the camera‘a general direction while reading. Bit of an amateur-hour thing for CCP.
And there are even ways of having the promter directly in front of the camera, with one sided mirrors...

@@Bartschinator It's literally the most brain dead ISK making though, it's not actual "content". That's what he means. Apart from fighting each other it would be nice if WH space was more strategic in ownership - not just "lul we make ISK by doing the most boring ratting in existence"
@@Bartschinator with a shit load of set up and the most dangerous space in the game you mean?

With 4 accounts u should have reached to a level where you pay using isk for your plex. Also while hunting sales it should be around 400-440
Let us jump carriers in high sec, I want more safe SOLO content. More SOLO missions. I'm tired of joining and leaving nullsec. I haven't got time to play constantly to meet corps requirements!
youtube seems like a weird place to recruit, but if you wanna join a group with low requirements in null Send "Kale Mabata" an in game mail.
it would be awesome if they added more pve stuff like raids and instances requiring a certain group number
@@CaliforniaSolder I agree
Being able to jump ships in the maintenance bay around with a carrier in highsec would honestly be pretty OP lol
Not even jump freighters can jump into highsec, seriously doubt this will happen
@IAmNumber4000 I believe there should be placed strict restrictions on carriers like sensors not being able to lock on players and some other penalties like high operation cost(example tickets for 5 million ISK per hour to operate carrier), enhanced NPC threats, reduced drone bandwidth or slower fighter deployment/retrieval times, adjust insurance payouts for carriers in hi-sec to reflect their limited combat role, potentially offering lower payouts to discourage risky behaviors.
LoL the face-animation of the presenters is worse than Starfield. Nevertheless, very informative for me as long absent player wonderinmg if coming back maybe a thing.
There was absolutely NO reason to have people in the video if all they do is stare to the side and read off a telepromter like a damm robot......
It would be better if the assignments were translated properly into Russian. What nonsense to do and correct display of tasks without lags
The fact that all the Gankers love Null and most of the players are in HI SEC keeps shooting down the fact that people aren't interested in dealing with GREIFERS every time they leave a station. I wont go into Null, its not worth the loss. These structures and ships will ONLY be accessible to large corps......which means most of the people in the game will NEVER BENEFIT FROM IT.
Ok so combat pilots can fight miners can have a rockgazem but when are you going to show explorers some love? The 3 old sleeper sites are mundane now the new exploration content has bad drop loot, and the spawn rates are horrible. Faster spawning sites a few new ships that are designed specifically for explo and no combat and the type of sites that can make us the same money that some pilots multiboxing stormbringers while ratting.
Awesome! Now nerf ansis!
Nerf ansi when you can't close off worm holes.

More structures is NOT the solution.
Yeah yeah more meaningless numbers while eve's core spaceship gameplay stagnates
What would it take for Eve to hire Asmondgold and other influencers to shill Eve? It would bring in so much money and so many new players.
