The ingebrigtsen accent completes the video 😂
Haha I should have a Swedish accent, but I guess it's quite similar to Norwegain english :D
@@goranwinblad Being from Norway you could pick out a Swede by the English accent in about 0.2 sec.
Great job with following the training schedule! I see Kalle Berglund had some success "copying" the training schedule as well. Apparently Leif Inge Tjelda and Gjert Ingebrigtsen fell out because of this, but I don't know the details of it.
being from California I agree!!! ☝️ 🤷♂️😹
Into week 4 of Ingebrigtsen training. I can't believe how fit I'm getting. Each week I've done 5x6:00. Started at 2 rests week 1 and each week brought rest down 15 seconds. PM session I've switched between 8x1k and 25x400. Just once a week, but at age 43 that's enough. Saturdays I do their 2x10x200 hill session. Getting fast and 💪
Do you have their traning program?
@@kodnamn No, I just took what I could find. 5x6:00, 8-10x1000, 24x400, 10x300, 2x10x200 hills. Mostly what I'm using.
@@cakej1 How did you know what pace to run at for the intervals?
@@gustavvw36 years of experience helped, but trial and error. I ran first 5x6:00 so each would be same but so I felt I could do another 1-2. Then slowly got faster each week.
Holy shit man, for a 43 year old to be doing these workouts without injury, you must be an incredibly strong runner. 👍
If some of you want, I have the exact program of Jakob's training at 16 before he breaks 4 in the mile
He was running around 80 miles a week

Chocolate milk is actually a very smart choice (regardless of what diet culture might say). It has the perfect ratio of carbs and protein needed for proper recovery
Your video editing skills are one of the best running youtubers I've seen well done
Thanks! Very happy to hear that, working hard on the edits :)
Your form when running is wow ❤️👌 so good

got into running because of lockdown... i wasnt aware of how much planning goes into it! my family are runners but never plan anything.
Nice that you got into running! You don't need to plan anything if you just want to enjoy it it's just to go out and run :)

Göran! I discovered your youtube channel just yesterday and I can't stop watching your videos. Keep it up. I started running together with a friend 20 weeks ago and this video reminded of the Ingebrigstsen brothers, how they push each other to perform better. It has really helped me find be consistant with my running which also led to that joy always seem to have (which I thought I would never find in running). Anyways I would that pdf you mentioned in this video, I know it's been 2 years since your posted this video, but if get the chance I'd really appreciate it. Also, my friend is hard on that my cadence (strides) is too low, I would love your take on the importance of cadence and what I can do to improve it (I couldn't find that you made a video on this topic yet). At last, thank you your great videos, keep em coming!!! :D
Hi! My 5k P.R. is 14.54. Im really happy that i found this video. Awesome content👌
3k 8:21 but that was a few years ago I’m a little faster now. Never doubled on a workout day should be interesting. Cool video clearly a mistake to go for the breakfast 😂

it's amazing how many fast people there are. i was really happy when i broke 16 mins. i did 15:58 as my 3k split while running my 5k pb.
at 14 i ran a 5:25 1500. at that time i was a 400/800 runner. 1500 was too far for me, so i didn't run 3k until i was into my 30's. after i had complete snapped my Achilles. i now have very reduced power from my left leg. but i would really love to run faster again.
Hi Goran - Ive just read the article on double threshold workouts by Marius Bakken - and today Ive seen your video - good timing - looking to up my training this year and progess - my 3k pb is 10:50. Enjoyed the video!

My 3km pb is 10 mins 20sec. Wanna get sub ten as a goal. It blows my mind that Jakob eats that before a workout. Also, I saw his vlog and he ate McDonalds the day before his race!!
Hi, I am happy to tell you that I am one of your new subs, because I absolutely loved this video that I just found🥰

For the morning workout you had a 30 minute/5k warm up: did you actually warm up at a 10 minute mile pace or did you run 5k and do a pre-run warm up?
Hi Goran! Great video! I’m huge fan of the brothers and it’s great to see how they train! My 3k pb is 20 min atm 😅

Just for some context, the Ingerbrigtsen pace of 2:50 / km on interval training is what Kipchoge did for a full marathon to get sub 2 hours.
Good work on the video.
Thanks, glad you like the video! Yes, thanks for the context. Yeah Kipchoge is insain, but this is not a super tough training for the Ingebrigtsen brothers, either it's a training at threshold pace. Kipchoge also have a pace of arround 3:00 on his 10min intervals as well, I made a video about his training as well:
ua-cam.com/video/d8_Q48kQ-gE/v-deo.html
One's lactate threshold can be increased considerably by infusing alkalinity an hour or two prior to a race. As example for a 150 pound runner would take 5 teaspoons of baking soda dissolved in 32 ounces of water or sports drink. This procedure is good for races up to about 7 minutes in duration. This information was obtained from the scientist Loren Cordain, PhD, in his book, "The Paleo Diet for Athletes". I haven't personally tried this because I am 72 and no longer run but if I was 20 again I would try this on a training run to verify it's validity. Loren Cordain is an esteemed scientist so I would bet it works.
3K best around 9:30 but I’m currently training for a 4:15 mile and would love a different look for training regimes
11:15 for 3km.
This was a wonderful video. Thank you.
Loving your content 👌

Great content:)
This is so interesting! the breakfast made me laugh 😂
Do you aim to take every interval to LT2 or do you keep the pace the same so only the last few intervals reach LT2?
I guess if you took each one to LT2 the intervals would all need to be different speeds.
hi, great content. thanks for this video! 12:14 is my 3k pb, would be grateful for the training pdf - thank you so much.
My 3k pb is 11m 05s. Thanks!

1. Gör längre videos som täcker ett spann. Typ 1 månad eller liknande. Se till att visa resultat innan och efter och reflektera före, under och efter perioden etc.
2. Som Bekele!
Tack för bra tips!
My 3k pb is 10:13 and I would really like to try the ingerbritson training method
Would love for two sons who will be freshman and senior running 1 and 2 on their team this coming Fall. Both are elite runners and are willing and able to be truly great. Both have several championships under their belts, and both want to run sub 4:00 in the 1600, and sub-1500 in the 5K and sub 9:00 in the 3200, and low 1:50 in the 800. I wrote the book Original Fast Foods and they nutrition is outstanding; primarily plant base. Trying to determine running base for the summer, as well as percentage of easy long runs, versus threshold long runs, strength building, and intervels. The youngest is running 40 miles a week now and has run seriously since 4th grade. The older runs 50+ miles per week and has been running for years. .
That's cool to hear! Here you have the excel file for download, just put i your 3k pb (in minutes) and the schedule with adjust to your pace, good luck with your training!

I don’t know how the bread with chocolate is a good pre run meal, but one of my high school teachers who was also the swimming coach would get the extra breakfast chocolate milks from the cafeteria and would give them to her swimmers. She told us she did it because it had something to do with it energizing or nourishing them for early morning training
This is due to how chocolate milk has the ideal carb to protein ratio, is tasty, affordable, good amounts of sodium and potassium too
So it’s a great pre workout for swimmers and especially as a post workout recovery drink
Hi Goran, I am looking for answer about zone 2 training. My watch tells me that the top of my zone 2 is 125bpm. But i can run till 140 with keeping a clear conversation. I am 47. Any ideas? Thanks
Very interesting video!
Thanks for getting us some insights!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Nice video! The good: the lake. The bad: chocolate milk before a running workout
Thanks! I agree on your good and bad 😅
Bra video!😊😍
Takk Sondre!
For the threshold intervals, could it be interresting to do something like 6x1000m (1') --> 4x1500m (1') --> 3x2000m (1') --> 2x3000m (1') then go back to 6x1000m (1') but slightly faster? If the race goals are between 5k and 21k?
Also, some says that your rest time should be 30% of your running time (so 6' of treshold = 2' of rest), isn't it better to try reduce this rest time?
I am normally a 800m and 1500m runner but sometimes I also run 3k so PB is about 10min and really sick video

My 3k PB is 10:36 I would love to try out the training schedule.
my 3k PB is 8:41 it was during a Marathon race this year
How many times a week are you supposed to do these double intervalls?
Hey I'm a 14yr old with 3k PB of 7:06 and was hoping to run sub-10mins for a 5k soon. Is that good?
^ 50% of comments on running videos haha
Yeah, 10-13 minutes would be an average time for a 3km for most of amateur runners, under 10' would be already very good and those who say to run under 9' are nearly professionals (under 8' would be a pro time).
I didn't try 3k but in my 5k test (19'18") I was at 11'24" so probably around 11' flat for a 3km and I consider myself a normal-good amateur runner (I started running 2 and a half months ago)
3k at 12min pb. Looking forward to the calculation sheet!
I'm not yet having a 3km time trial but my personal best in 5k is 16:47 on the track. I hope that'll do. Anyway, great video. I would love to see more of these.

I havent read the book, but thanks for the tip will read it for sure!

Great video. My 3km time is around 13 minutes. Would be grateful for my threshold pace please. Thanks
I don't know if you still answer to these videos but I'm just starting out with running and was looking to do a single threshold day a week so I'm thinking of doubling with 4 sets of 4 minute intervals in the morning and then the 30 second Hill repeats in the afternoon. Do you think that would be a good way to train or should is that not enough threshold work to count as a "double threshold" day?
My 3km PB is 10:36, great video!
