Ever wondered how you set up a large family tent?
Well so did we. Watch us, complete with no camping experience whatsoever.
Due to staycations being one of the only possible options for getaways in 2021, we took the plunge and decided to buy a tent. A rather large tent. We also decided to buy all the equipment that we thought we would need to ensure that, as a family we would have as much comfort as possible. Inflatable this and inflatable that. Yes, we were the family with all the gear, but no idea!

Measuring a whopping 7 metres by 5 metres, this is not the ideal tent to be putting up as your first, but we give it a go and well, if you watch to the end, you will see the results were quite impressive (well we were impressed).
Fending off wind, rain and tired and frustrated kids, we somehow managed to assemble this tent and at the end, after nearly 3 hours we had the tent of our dreams...
We have made this for all other fellow virgin campers in case they want to venture out for a staycation. Hopefully it will give you and idea of what to expect when it comes to pitching and furnishing ideas, so that you can ensure you have as much comfort as possible in a field.....
You can watch how pitch up this tent and see how long it took us. Was it the actual 20 minutes that was advertised on the sign at GoOutdoors? Or where they fibbing?

Hi great video I had a tent like this and found it easier to put poles in pull them all to the same place at the end put them all up then pull the tent out like a concertina. This was after many different attempts and then being told by someone else. 🤣🤣🤣 Happy camping

We are seasoned campers, but looking at this tent as a lighter alternative to our huge, heavy outwell air tent.

Thanks so much Brandon. Yes, the tent is quite light and very spacious, and we would defo recommend it to anyone, even if it did take us a while to put up.

Little tip regarding the tent carpet, double sided velcro to keep it in place, works a treat.
Also, for sleeping we have found the raised air beds much more comfortable and for bedding, we take ours from the house with pillows and vacuum bag them so they don't take much room up :)
Also, insulated mats under the airbeds help prevent them deflating during the night, just a few tips from us :)
Thats great, thanks for the tips Brandon. Double sided tape is on shopping list now and we are looking at a couple of the Yawn Air beds as they appear to have good reviews..oh and we have ended up buying Roof box, couldn't fit everything in car..Think it would have been cheaper to buy a Spanish Villa, but you wouldn't get that natural manure smell at 2am, so camping it will be😁

We have the same table abd chairs and inflatable sofa.
We used to have a vango Orava 600 xl but just bought a vango Anantara 600xl TC air
beam. I can highly recommend vango shangrila mattresses.
Oh, thanks. we just checked out the Vango bed you recommended. Think as soon as the Yawn goes pop, that will be out next bit of kit for the bedroom. We are just looking at new tents, decisions decisions...🤔
@@TheHadwinsTV we went for the airbeam as I end up shouting with the pole tent lol and the TC for less flapping and better temperature control

20mins 😂 vango are having a laugh, a good 70mins it took myself and my son today, had to check in on this video during it. When you said you were doing it wrong, in what way? I had all the poles in place but couldn't lift the rear into place so I took 4 out and done each pole one at a time and it worked a treat.
Lol, we have felt your pain. We have now sussed that if you put the middle pole in first with side door open, the air/wind helps push the back part up. Still not blooming easy, but defo helps...

Hi Scott,I’ve just recently bought the vango incarus 500 DLX 5 berth plus Awning , me and my partner are also new to camping, it took us 2 hours erecting it , should taken 45 mins lol 😅 I’ve just booked a pitch for 3 nights at Warren farm holiday park Burnham on sea in June , if interested I’ll let you no if any good all not 😊
Hi Darren. So glad we are not the only ones that took hours and not minutes to pitch a tent. And yes, please tell us what tent and site are like there. We are off to Cornwall in a couple of weeks, so we sat here hoping the weather improves.

Great video... Have you had other trips since you had this one and have any pitching tips or what you find works best? I've just bought this tent and put up in my garden for a trial run last night, but found putting the poles into the pins incredibly hard 😓
Hi Rachel. Yes a few other trips since. Trouble being we have breaks of 3-4 months between each break, and we both have memories like a goldfish. But we have got it down to about 40 minutes now. What we can say is, buy some better pegs, as the ones supplied are not the best. And leave bedroom blackout in. As they are a nightmare to button in. Apart from that, pray it doesn't rain and there is no wind. But when it is up, you will love it👍

Hi, Yes, we actually do keep the secondary ground sheet for the kitchen area in place and just fold it all up as we do with the bedrooms.

Brilliant video 👍...we started last year but decided on airbeams..one thing where did you get those inflatable Sofia's from?single seaters look wicked!
Hi Matthew glad you enjoyed video. The single inflatable sofas were actually from Morrisons and cost about £12 each. ideal for childre, but were bit cramped for adults..but at that price, stiff knees every so often were bearable.

Hi, It is very common to have that kind of weather here in England. 😄. very unpredictable. Sunny in the morning and all of a sudden there's a hurricane. lol

Yes, the tent has been great.
we have actually had 4 weeks away in it in '22.
We did look at inflatables the same size, but think we would need a juggernaut to pack that and everything else in the car?
We would defo recommend, really spacious and we have even mastered putting it up in about 30 - 40 minutes now!
