When Sonic Colors Ultimate was announced, I knew I wanted to do a Reach for the Stars cover to celebrate. I did this song way back in 2013 as part of the first Sonic Fan Medley, and a lot of people have wanted a full version since.
I found out about StudioNicktendo through his City Escape cover, and I loved how well his voice fit the song. So I reached out to him to see if he wanted to be a part of this remix. And of course: he did a killer job!

You totally killed it! Your vocals are how I remembered the original song, but when I went back and listened, they weren't nearly as good as your rendition.

I wanted to say, Sonic Colors was one and still one of my favorite Sonic Games, i played both DS and Wii versions, and it took me a lot of time to complete it, and to get Super Sonic on Wii, i still have the game and Wii console after so much time and i really appreciate all this fun i had playing this great game!
Regardless of your stance on Sonic Colors, we can all agree that as with the soundtracks of most other Sonic games, Colors has a banger of a Soundtrack
Yeah. Although I never really liked Reach for the Stars. It always felt like it was missing something crucial. This remix and the one from the Sonic Symphony Orchestra seem to have that something as I have no problems with those versions. The original, however, I just don't like for whatever reason.
@@KingKayro87 Perhaps the original is a little too far on the synth side to feel like a "Sonic song" with the precedent set by the soundtracks before it. Both new renditions have more of a rock touch to them, more reminiscent of Crush 40.
Colors' soundtrack overall though is, in my opinion, a contender for the best in the series.
@@Parapsyche Yeah, absolutely. Stuff like Aquarium Park, Asteroid Coaster, Terminal Velocity, and Tropical Resort all have fantastic music. The game looks absolutely beautiful too. As much as I don't like the game, it's got its charm and I can definitely see why it's getting a remastered version.
I like Colors's soundtrack better than any other post-genesis game. and that includes CD. Most of the 3d era is just butt rock, I can't into it at all.
@@KairuHakubi not really, most games have rock but it's not even all the music that they had. SA2 and Unleashed had diverse music for example...

I basically only like music with context, so I mostly listen to video game and movie/show music... with the odd opera song like The Point of No Return from the Phantom of The Opera. Point being, yes.
I may not care for Sonic Colors, but the soundtrack is easily in my top 3 in the series. Always good to see a Sonic cover from you!

For what it's worth, I've be having an extremely bad past few years. I discovered your channel a few months ago and it's honestly been life changing. I can actually start my days with a smile on my face. This cover though? One of my favorites to date. Vocals are perfection as well. Thank you for all you do. I needed this in my life.

This is absolutely amazing, this is my favourite version of Rech for the stars now!! After hearing Panic in the Sky for the first time i knew you meant busines hahah, and StudioNicktendo was insane on vocals too!!

I hope this gets to both of you, but Good lord you f-ing murdered the original which is an accomplishment because I thought it couldn’t be topped. GaMetal, the guitar, synth piano, and drums are sublime. And Studio Nicktendo, your vocals gives all of this incredible work into legendary as your voice gives all the energy and personality that the song was known for, but just flat out better in every way. Stellar work you two, you should be incredibly proud!

This is why Sonic will ALWAYS be one of my all time favorite video games series, no matter it’s blunders, The GODDAMN MUSIC. No Matter the message of the song, they always say the same thing to me. Quoted by a certain Minion of the Great Fawful: Even if you trip and fall, keep a modest pace, or LIGHT THE AIR ON FIRE, you gotta keep moving, Sonic is the Living Embodiment of Tenacity, he won’t stop running no matter what…..that is why I’ll always run along side the Azure Flash of Freedom. I remember Sonic Colors was my first Sonic game. Watching that amazing intro and listening to Reach for The Stars. This game and song sparked my love for Sonic and I'm super happy you covered it! It's amazing!
Maybe this game wasn't a top hit, but it was the first Sonic game I beat on my own (2 Battle was a bit too difficult), and it's so good to see a GaMetal song from it!

This song is perfect! Sonic Colors Ultimate released yesterday. I really want the game. I have the original for Nintendo Wii but I bet that the controls are a lot smoother now than on the Wii. I have to use my Gamecube controller to make the game easier. You gave Sonic an anniversary gift better than the game itself! Great Job, guys!

Bit late to the party (Yes Sonic i know I’m too slow ) but this is honestly my favorite Sonic song, nay my favorite song in general. And the fact that not only managed to deliver this absolutely beautiful track without losing the energy and freedom of the original yet still keeping it legible. Major props to you and Nicktendo, and keep up the good work!
(Also technically my favorite song is Nega Wisp Armor Phase 2 but that’s just a remix of Reach for the Stars so whatever)

Also, I would love it if you could do a medley of two songs from Touhou 18. The first song is Lunar Rainbow (the final stage theme), which would go into the second song, Immemorial Marketeers (the final boss theme). They work super well together, with the first acting as a serene but serious build up to the latter.
