The reason they can know that there are so many "unknown" casualties is because they can count. I'm not sure what the Lagunican army uses to count troops, but I do know US Army standards: 7-8 men to a squad, about 30 men to a platoon, etc. All they need to do is check their numbers by unit size ("We're supposed to have 40 men, but we only have 28. Therefore..."). They also KNOW the White Whale has been a menace for centuries... how could they do that if everyone the White Whale killed disappeared from the world completely?
But how can that be? Since white whale's fog makes ANYTHING connected to the person disappear as if he was never born and changes the events (like subaru and ram saving rem in the forest), I would assume he could change the amount of unit in the army. Was this specified in any way in the novels?
Crush would be smart enough to know how many troops she had by relying on her knowledge. If I were a commander, I would not have partially filled units, I would have filled units; 10 troop squads, 40 troop platoons, a full company of 120 troops. I would not hunt the White Whale with anything less than X number of fighters, Y number of mage, etc. And while the whale's fog does remove all trace of a person, what it cannot do is remove the effects that person had in reality (season 2 spoiler, as this gets discussed later). An example would be a person chopping down a tree and later being caught in the erasing effect. The tree would still be cut down.
Can Subaru use revealing RBD to kill enemies? The answer to this is probably not, since when Subaru reveals RBD the witch enacts a punishment. She decides what that punishment is, and she decides who dies. There’s no guarantee that the enemy will die, and the witch would in some cases kill Subaru himself and force a reset (if Subaru revealed RBD to Reinhard).
Wilhelm is probably one of the most likeable support characters for me. Mainly because of his backstory with his wife in this episode even if it's just him saying it, it's already so good.
Tappei the author clear that only Emilia will die if he says about RBD and if he tries to say this to other people he will die(if he says to Reinhard then his body will blast away and he will die💀)🙂
Rem is really one of the best girls. she's amazing and very supportive. Happy that the discussions went really well! After going through all of this hell, Subaru deserves more and will become a great hero! 🔥
