    Great video and run down of the Trade Wind. I agree with you and LuvSubbin - this is for the 30-40 something. I enjoy my storage areas inside / outside storage areas I have with my 2019 FBQ Globetrotter. Keep up the great work!

    Great video and we enjoyed catching up with you. You covered the hot water reclamation system much better than we did. We'll look forward to seeing you guys down the road again real soon.

    With the composting toilet, the black tank is still in use. It just no longer handles solid waste.

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  11 місяців тому

      At the Hershey RV show, Airstream explained to me that the Black tank would be plated over and not used when the optional self-contained composting toilet is installed. However, if someone decided to convert back to a traditional RV toilet the Black tank would already be installed and available for use. Thanks for watching and safe travels.

    Guys, I have watched many you tubers like you reviewing the Trade Wind. Your video was among the best. As you will know, Airstream has been slow to embrace the trend of going fully electric. Now that they are making products that are mostly or fully electric, they are still behind the time by using battleborn batteries. There are much better products on the market. Having said this, none of the reviewers of the Trade Wind have failed to mention that for a unit with this type of electric capability, why do they still have a gas range? Why not a double induction range? If you are going electric, why do you still have gas? Does not make sense!

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching and the great comments. Not really sure why they kept the gas range. Perhaps it was based on buyer preference, cost or both?

    Great overview folks! Does Airstream put a thermal break between aluminum wall studs and interior skin? I wonder what an IR camera would show if the Airstream was out in cold with interior heat heat on. I wish we did energy audits on rvs complete with blower door to measure loss.

      Great question, unfortunately I’m not able to answer that one for you. Perhaps you could ask the question on AirForums online. I am sure someone could answer it for you.

    How long can you run the AC at max output on DC power?

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  11 місяців тому +1

      Wish I could answer that for you, but electricity (amps, watts, volts) and math aren’t my strongest subjects 😕

      Exactly what Ive been asking around trying to figure out myself! So far it seems only a few hrs and doubtful the solar can keep up with recharging. So to answer the demographic question, IMHO, nevermind age, its marketed toward those that like it hot hot hot! If you want AC, you still need to plug in! I am a little jelly of the big inverter tho. And the recirc water heater. Truth be known.

    I was looking at the Flying Cloud FBT. My thought was to install all the Trade Wind features aftermarket except the recirculating pump. What’s the best option in your opinion?

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  11 місяців тому +3

      Unless I had a reputable after market installer who has done the power upgrades previously, I would lean toward the factory installed option. Just my opinion. Safe travels

    Why do you say this would not be good for people who utilize KOAs? Can this not be fully hooked up?

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  10 місяців тому +1

      I think the point that Rich & Cindy were making is that the Trade Wind is a very capable travel trailer and would not necessarily require all the amenities (full hook ups) provided at a KOA or similar campground. Hope this clarifies the remark. Safe travels.

    Thanks for the review. Interior decor looks somewhat bland for an airstream. You could get a nicer looking 25 or 27 International with nicer interior look and aftermarket all of those changes to solar, battery, lift kit, etc.

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  11 місяців тому

      Very true. I will admit that we were a little underwhelmed by the interior fit and finish for that price point. Thanks for watching and safe travels.

    So it is really an international that has common upgrades factory installed. Will a 50 amp version become available?

    • @jlokanis
      @jlokanis 11 місяців тому

      It's based off a Flying Cloud, not the International. The cabinets, countertops, sink and fixtures are all from the FC, but with a different finish. Also, no portal window on the bathroom door like in the Int and GT. Personally I don't like the slider cabinets in the International so I prefer this setup. But the undermount sink would have been nice.

    • @nm8834
      @nm8834 11 місяців тому

      At first, I too preferred the flip up cabinets to the sliders, but now… I loooove the lighting coming from inside the lockers thru the translucent sliders. Honestly thats what I mostly use when I turn on the lights. Love that about the Intl!!!

    • @nm8834
      @nm8834 11 місяців тому

      Wait, no porthole window in the door!!?? Really??? Smh. Someone on Airforums sells a kit.

    • @jlokanis
      @jlokanis 11 місяців тому

      Interesting. We are in the process of deciding on our next TT and have gravitated towards the FC over the Int because of the sliders. It seemed to us that being limited to opening only one side or the other but not both at the same time would become annoying over time. Honestly we prefer the GT cabinets the most but not enough to justify the extra $$$$.

    Seems like the lift kit is needed to keep the batteries off the ground!

      I thought the same thing. Time will tell if the battery location on the Trade Wind was a good choice. Safe travel.

    I think they could have done better. This is basically a flying cloud with some power upgrades

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  11 місяців тому

      I would agree. There are other features and upgrades they could have included, but overall it is a step in the right direction if they intend to really compete in the off-grid camping market.

  • @larryinguagiato8719

    So where did they stick all of the batteries??

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  11 місяців тому

      Under the chassis behind the rear wheels.

    • @jlokanis
      @jlokanis 11 місяців тому

      looks like you lose the pullout bed. I wonder why they chose that spot instead of under the regular bed where most owners put them aftermarket.

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  11 місяців тому

      @jlokanis not sure what all went into the engineering decisions. I assume there was a logical reason. Thanks for watching and safe travels.

    $142K + TTL as configured.

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  11 місяців тому

      At the Hershey RV Show I was quoted $148K for the model on display. However, the base price from Airstream with no options starts at $129K. But we all know that the market sets the price 🙂. Thanks for watching and safe travels

    • @rla510
      @rla510 11 місяців тому

      TTL. . . Yea, pricey (understandably) but overall, IMO, bold and well done. I’m considering.

    Total BS. Not enough solar, not enough battery. Be lucky to power the AC for 3 hours, and the Solar would not charge it up on an average day. Like the rig, but let's face it; you need 1200+ solar, and more than 1200kw batteries. Suggest you also have a generator of the new Ford Hybrid with 7.2kw genes.

    • @thewrightlife
      @thewrightlife  5 днів тому

      Not sure “total BS” is a completely fair assessment of the Tradewind, but you make some very valid points. However, I would imagine adding the additional solar and batteries would push the price tag out of reach for just about every consumer looking for an off grid capable Airstream. Thanks for watching and your comments. Safe travels.
