  • West Mersea Duck Punts exploring Dead Creek in Vermont. Despite it's name, Dead Creek is a lovely and vibrant watercourse. It is a protected wildlife management area adjacent to Lake Champlain, and home to a great variety of songbirds, waterfowl, and raptors.

Hi - Did you build these the trad all timber John Millman way or Flo/Mo ply and epoxy?

Larry, the hulls are plywood, using bottom and side panel layouts from Flowing Motion's interpretation for stitch and glue, but otherwise built to Milgate's plans and scantlings with traditional chine logs and framing. The white boat uses 6mm ply all around, the green boat uses 6mm sides and a 9mm bottom.

Thanks for replying. We are going to build a few and wanted to get the best of both worlds - exactly as you have done. 9mm bottom for us though I think as we have a few sharp stones in Chichester Harbour. Do you know what yours weigh by chance?
