@@lurch1eNothing makes me happier! That and your new videos. ❤ I’m hoping to generate some more interest here in the NW of USA with my building blog being featured in Small Craft Advisor. 👍 It made me realize I’ve been punting for over 12 years! Not bad for a boat I built for a couple of hundred dollars. All thanks to you, my friend.
Not too much. The side slipping you can see in the video is mainly from the tide. When beating up wind against the tide is when you notice the most slippage, we call this "a beat of a thousand tacks." When reaching the punts are normally pretty good.
Yes, I use a Garmin Virb camera which has a built in GPS. It's probably ready for an upgrade though and I believe the GoPro 9 and 10 also have this feature.
You brothers have some of the best boats in the world. Look at how you stay pretty dry too. Impressive.
When we first went out it wasn't too bad, coming back was pretty mad though!
Duck punters are a crazy breed. Good to know these boats are tough enough to punch through those winds and waves.
Fantastic, so good to see you guys back 😬
Thanks Jon, there seems to be a real resurgence in the DuckPunts on Mersea at the moment.

Geezus! No way I’d take my punt out in THAT!!! That’s insane mate, well done. Well done indeed!
There was about 8 of us that went out. It wasn't too bad initially but got really windy on the way back.
It's great to see you guys in punts not wasting a good wind
How much down wind side slip do you get in a big blow like that?

Wow. I love it! Can you share what device you use to measure boat speed when you are sailing like this?
