    If I was an international drug smuggler, shipping containers would definitely be my preferred mode of transportation.
    By far the easiest way to hide, conceal and transport narcotics across the world.
    Like the man said... Theres absolutely no way the authorities can possibly check or search every single container that comes in to the port.

    • @jedimindtrix2142
      @jedimindtrix2142 2 роки тому +92

      Pretty simple. Especially the drugs and goods. You just package it and ship it as if it is something else. Say you are shipping peanut butter. Scoop out a lot of the butter and put drugs in the containers and put the peanut butter back in on top. Throw your boxes in a container with 100s of other boxes and it disappears. That's how almost all illegal drugs come in. Very little crosses the border these days. That's why the idea of a wall stopping drugs is laughable. If you understand how the trade and industry works you realize that if you can't fight a drug war. The only way to get drug use and abuse under control is to legalize and regulate drug use for people who choose to indulge like the British did with heroin in the 60s. Back then they had less than 400 heroin addicts because of their regulated and monitored system. We need to make sure that criminals can't profit from selling drugs and taking that market away from them and regulating it is the only way to do that. Otherwise people will keep finding new and innovative ways to ship things into the country and people who use drugs, which there will always be people who do will continue to have to buy from the street. Until society realizes that we are doing this to ourselves it won't end. People are stubborn and stuck in their views, they won't change. Prohibition of alcohol created the gangster era and the drug war is creating the cartels and much worse.

      @@jedimindtrix2142 I agree, the drug war doesn’t make sense because humans have been getting high since the beginning of civilization and have always found a way to alter there state no matter the consequences. I was pointing out that Vice barely even covered the title of the video, they didn’t even talk about human trafficking. I would be really interested in learning how that works on cargo ships. My opinion, the video should have been 20-30m and actually explained what’s going on. Thanks for the in depth explanation as well

    They barely scratched the surface on the problem (smuggling), nor did they address how vast amounts of drugs/guns/equipment are trafficked by a shipping company that is a front for a particular agency. There were several containers marked Evergreen that stood out; but all of the vessels likely bear the flags of foreign countries (Mersk, etc) adding protection for corporate owners in the event illegal cargo is found. It sounds like countries need to reduce imports and find ways to force corporations who sell products to Americans to also produce them in the US.

      @@johnstudio55 man, acrylic glass containers are not efficient or have extensive functionality over current containers, there are products that can be damaged by being exposed to light when transported, the containers would have a reduced durability that would increase the need for their production and consequently there would be less sustainability in the business in addition to having much higher prices.

      @@austinudegbunam1883 Damn, you’re rude. If you knew all that already why not just say it’s more expensive than say “don’t be stupid”? This is definitely not my field of expertise. I just commented a random thought on a random video in my UA-cam feed. But at the same time even if you’re correct about all that info. Sometimes you have to pay more for things to be done better. I personally don’t mind paying more for things if it will help decrease human trafficking in particular.
