    Hello I have bmw e90 2007
    I replaced the thermostat and water pump, flushed the coolant and added new one. This BMW model has no electric water pump,right as it doesn't activate by turning on the heater and pressing the accelerator for 10 seconds So I tried opening the bleed screw and add coolant. I patiently waited to make the fluid stable and no bubbles visible. (Not sure if I did the right thing though). I closed the reservoir cap and started the engine. Temperature starting to increase. It reached 105degree celsius and slowly reach 108degree celcius. After 5mins it was at 110degree celcius so I turned it off. Is the temperature normal? If not what should I do? What is the maximum temperature for me to turn it off? Thanks

    Great video! Thanks. Just one question… if the system is sealed back up prior to starting the Water Pump how does the water pump get the air out of the system? It sounds like the system will have an air pocket if the air has nowhere to escape. I could be missing something. Thanks again.

    • @johnjones607
      @johnjones607 3 роки тому

      The air is released into the void in the tank, when you remove the cap it will escape. I assume if the cap is off, when the water flows it will create tiny bubbles which will end up being drawn back into the system, dunno, i've tried it cap on and cap off and i still cant get rid of the air in my E92 system :(

      @EcoupeNmt 3 роки тому

      @@johnjones607 same problem right now 😭 I had expansion tank and radiator blow at the same time and left me being towed. I replaced both of them and feel like there's air in the lower hose. It's staying cool to the touch and the upper HOT I can't leave my driveway. It has lost power since and I have no clue what's what with it right now. I just bought it a couple months ago and so far I've spent more time repairing than I have driving 🤬

    • @johnjones607
      @johnjones607 3 роки тому

      @@EcoupeNmt Oh damn that aint good!!
      I could hear air in the top pipes, tried over and over to get rid with no luck. I had to have my thermostat replaced about a week ago and they seem to have got rid of the air, they didn't use this method, they used the two bleed valve things on the other pipes to get rid apparently. They hadn't heard of this despite being a prestige car repair shop...Bentleys, Mercs, BMW's etc.
      They said they did it cold, dunno what they meant, i assume the engine was running and they undid the other bleed things on the other pipes you can see. It seems to have got rid of the air but now it looks like my heater matrix/core is gunked up as i only get heat from one side of the car lol!!!!

    Strange, I saw exactly this procedure in another video before and wanted to double check, if it was correct. I did exactly as explained, but nothing happened. Ignition on without starting motor, temperature on max, ventilation on lowest level but not off, 100% throttle for over 10 seconds - nothing. Luckily I only lost a little bit of coolant when cleaning the EGR valve, so I just bleeded it the classic way with running engine.

      Maybe you don't have one? If you do have one, then your pump is screwed but that would be VERY obvious as your car would go into limp mode after it warmed up and the fan would sound like a jumbo jet. Chances are you dont have an electric pump....unless you normally drive a mile, pull over for a couple of hours, and have no sense of hearing o.0

      That's normal. You won't be able to get all of the coolant out of the system. So adding 1.65 gallons and having it max out, after bleeding, is good.

      It willcorride all of your cooling system components. You need to use distilled water. It will cost you one dollar for a gallon. I would drain all of that water coolant mixture out and start over.

    Dont we have to bleed off the coolant from underneath the car through the hose and then refill ? I'm a bit confused as some other youtubes videos mentioned this procedure differently.

      @@Hoetobeajew According to BMW the screw should be closed while venting and the expansion tank cap should be in place. I think all the air will work its way to the top of the expansion tank. Then when you check the level after finishing venting you add more coolant if the level is low and this will then have displaced all the air from the system
