- HOW TO BLEED COOLING SYSTEM ON BMW
If you have BMW and you need to bleed the cooling system on your BMW because you drained the coolant, or replaced thermostat, water pump, temperature sensor, or a hose we will explain how to do that in this video. It is very important to bleed the cooling system on your BMW or your engine will overheat and if not being careful you may end up blowing the head gasket. We demonstrated how to bleed the cooling system on BMW 3 series but the procedure will work on multiple models BMW. The procedure will work on engines that have electric water pump but consult your manual.

Will this be for a BMW 520i 2001 aswell ?
The best bmw advise on u-tube
It's like the longer I hear his accent the better my e90 runs 😁
Yeah so I did this to the point where I insert my key in the car but I don’t have lights on dash nor my heater/AC lights are on so what do I do now
Excellent, excellent information I wasn’t aware of before, Thank You 🙏🏾
Thank you my (Mom's) BMW go -to, lol.... !
I followed steps as per video to bleed coolant system and can't get it to activate pump to bleed. I have a E90 320i 2011 model and have tried 4 times with holding padal down for 12 secs, then 30 secs etc and it still won't activate pump. What could I check next?
I think 320i 318i don't have this bleed procedure, only 325i and 330i...
Pressing on gas pedal instead brake activated mine. 06 325i
Thank you, God bless you.
Hello , i have a problem with my e60, the climate controll only blows air through the vents in the middle of the car, on the middle of the dashboard, and in the back of center consoll towards the backseats) not on the sides on the dash or in front of the dash. Do you know what can be the problem?
Great video
Bro is adding coolant the whole time xD
Where is the value to drain the old coolant?
How do I know if it is ready for use?
Why short distance? I thought I’m good to go
Greetings, What to do if I dont have bleeder screw on the coolant tank?
I have a 2004 BMW E60 with a M54b22 engine, but I don't have that red level stick in the coolant tank, nor the bleeder screw. How to proceed leveling the coolant ?
I did not see the red level. It is possible to see it once I fill it with coolant.
Can i ask i have a e46 every thing is fine coolent wise and running no over heating ive bleed the system till no bubbles and repeated the same the next day but the thing is i have no heating all pipes walm up fine thermostat is new and every thing works just only blowing cold or slight walm then goes cold again could my heater core need blasting out with a hose pipe or something like that thank u
To bleed the coolant you need to keep the bleed screw in tight? Okay...
Listen if you ever try to go in my Ralph Lauren handbag you know I wasn't about to serve nobody
Hi, i have 2005 bmw 735il e66. In the dashboard hidden menu i get the coolant temperature reaching 110 and then goes down to 108,105, then up again and some times low as 89 then back again. I replaces water pump, thermostat, rediator, fan cluch, but still the same issue!!
Any advice??
have ubleed the system?
Coolant runs at about 105 to 99 degrees Celsius. I was pretty surprised when I learned this. With a lot of air flow on freeway it could be as low as 80 especially if your cruising. At long hot red light could get as high as 110.
Ok
How may i contact you all???
Rice coocker engine !
How much is an engine replacement ? Estimate
😂😂😂
Might as well buy a new car
what is that ?? i buy 2008 E92 convertibal i have heating problem now i have to do all that >> F**k that i well drive my 1992 bmw E36 it's easy and better
English

Your video quality is poor,improve.
Your punctuation is poor. Improve.
Why they couldn’t put a drain plug that is easily accessible from underneath without having to take half the car apart is beyond me 🤯
I ask myself the same thing, i worked on my dad's car and had to spill all over
Get a small hose and attach it with a zip tie. Simple
Explain please
Easy - if you can do repairs yourself easily, you’re less likely to require the dealership. The manufacturers know this. Hence why nothing is easy. For example, to change a friggin headlamp in my wife’s Buick you have to remove the underbody and squeeze your arm arm in where you can’t see and change it from underneath the front wheel well 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️😠😡
It does have drain plug, but u need to take the intercooler off.
Thats exactly the video i was looking for today! Thanks
Z4 advice? IT’s reversed.
Me too.
was losing coolant out of bleeder nut - followed this video to the letter and everything's perfect now - Great video!!!!
Thank you so much! This is the best info I’ve seen on this by far!! I was getting so frustrated but this got me back on the road (and your other videos about the rad hose and thermostat)
This video helped me save alot of money! Thank you mate it worked with my bmw and at home DIY
And if the pump is mechanic and not electric ?
Thanks for the very good video. @10.58 do we need t open the the bleeder screw for the 2nd fill?
5-10k in repairs? I can buy another 2008 for 3k if thats the case.
what language are you speaking
What about if I don't hear the coolant running
So glad I found your channel. I have an '08 328i and I watch your vids before I do anything to my car. You're saving me $$$ -- thanks!!
Do I need to bleed my coolant if I’m just needing to add more, I’m thinking of just flushing it should I would it do any use to me or should I just add more
And what If the pump still doesn't active? Is it broke lol
Thank you so much from Qater satheesh. Today iam working in bmw x6 radiator hose broken . God bless you
Does the 2006 BMW x5 3.0 engine how do you bleed .does it have a electrical bleeder .please help
This isn't turning my water pump on.. 🆘
Hey man I replaced my radiator and my coolant light is still on I did it yesterday and the light is still on should I re bleed it ?
Yesterday my coolant return like broke on the opposite side . I replaced the the return hose (the hose that is connected to the screw your referring to the the video. The car was not out of coolant just low and I replaced the coolant was it necessary to bleed the system at this point
Ever find out?
The expansion tank on my 525i e60 n52 2008 does not have a bleeding screw.i fulshed and replaced coolent burped with water pump +heater squeezed al water hoses and toped up cap on .drove around for a week . Then went for a 120k trip out of town on a very rainy day my expansion tank blew . ???????? Isnt the cap ment to stop pressure getting that hi . ?
Thanks for such a simple and easy video to follow. So once I have replaced the coolant tank, I need to fill up the coolant tank with coolant right to the top (to where the max is in the coolant reservoir) and then run the bleeding procedure to remove all the air pockets in the pipes, is that correct? When do you put the battery charger on? (do you put it on your positive and negative battery points right at the start as your doing the procedure? and is it pretty obvious when it's finished? (i.e. does the water pump stop going)
I hate BMW, will never buy another.
You forgot to mention about the cooling main fuse by the glove department?
Thank u guys so much for ur great videos...subscriber now....
Haha explode the tank
lot of parasite words
Only works for electric pumps
Hi
I learned a lot from you thank you
Hello I have bmw e90 2007
I replaced the thermostat and water pump, flushed the coolant and added new one. This BMW model has no electric water pump, right as it doesn't activate by turning on the heater and pressing the accelerator for 10 seconds So I tried opening the bleed screw and add coolant. I patiently waited to make the fluid stable and no bubbles visible. (Not sure if I did the right thing though). I closed the reservoir cap and started the engine. Temperature starting to increase. It reached 105degree celsius and slowly reach 108degree celcius. After 5mins it was at 110degree celcius so I turned it off. Is the temperature normal? If not what should I do? What is the maximum temperature for me to turn it off? Thanks
Hi please help with e90 320i 2010.. after i've changed radiator the car is show up yellow overheating light and few seconds it's change to red after that the fan will run and go away. This only happen when the engine it's cold then when i drive the car no warning lights beside half engine warning light.. Once the car is driving and it's warm the car will cut power and drive too too slow with the overheating sound
Oops! BMW water pump, unlike Mercedes, is not belt-driven but used the battery. It's electric pump. That's y BMW is more problem to fix.
Found this on Beemerpost forum: "The N46 has a mechanical coolant pump driven by the belt, so the bleeding procedure is different. Basically you fill it up with the bleeding screws open, then close the screws but leave the cap off. Start the engine and wait until you see coolant coming out of the small hose at the top of the reservoir, then close the cap. Leave the engine idle for a while, wait for it to cool down, and top off." Tried it and seemed to do the trick.
Coolants poisonous and can kill you in no time 😂😂. If you don't stop lol
Help, I have an 08 bmw750li and after changing the lower radiator sensor I'm only blowing cold air? It's a self bleeding system that I did on an incline. After repeating the process several times still only lukewarm are? Thanks for any possible tips. I really like this channel by the way
You’re squeezing air bubbles back into it with the baster squeeze the baster first, then dipping into the antifreeze, and it will only suck in you will not see bubbles
Oh I just eat bubble gum Baskin Robbins ice cream and then start screaming that's how i get off but you can do that sweetheart it's fine I'm here for you
So mine doesn't have a bleeding screw? How u bleeding that
Bleeding screw
HELP - MY QUESTION IS - My last step is running the electric water pump and removing coolant so it is not overfilled correct?
I have been making my last step adding coolant with the bleeder screw out and making sure there are no air bubbles, then removing a little coolant so it isnt overfilled.
Also, I've seen mixed steps for bleeding the system with the electric water pump and either having the bleeder screw cracked, or completely off for the first few minutes. How does it remove all the air in a closed system when both caps are entirely sealed? Is that why the level drops so much because it pute the air on top in the expansion tank? I'm trying to find the logic behind which makes more sense and just want to make sure ive bled my system properly.
Also I've seen some ppl say to run the electric water pump with the expansion tank cap off
So far I have done what you did 3-4 times the other night because after the first complete process there were still air bubbles when i added coolant to the expansion tank with the bleeder screw out there were still air bubbles. But after 3-4 full cycles of adding coolant with the bleeder screw out, each time there were fewer and fewer bubbles. By about the 4th time there were no air bubbles.
I finished with topping off the coolant with the bleeder screw out and making sure there were no air bubbles. On my last time doing this (~5 Times) there weren't any air bubbles
I drove the car a bit and retested it after it sat overnight there were maybe 2-3 air bubbles when I added coolant again with the bleeder screw out so i ran the electric pump and added coolant two more times until I was back to no bubbles when i added coolant with the bleeder screw out.
My 06 325i you have to step on gas for ten seconds instead of brake.
Legend the man! Top notch mechanic! German engineering! Ferrari race team !
I have a 2009 328i and I don't have a fan switch in the lower hose nor have I been able to locate it. Do you have any suggestions? I can't get the fan to come on
In one video he said to put the heaters both on high and to the first fan speed; on sum it’s not that fan speed. Same heat settings, but max fan speed
how do you bleed an e70 with a manual pump (m57 diesel)?
that's true for petrol, not for diesel, right?
Is this necessary for a 2017 bmw 430i?
Stop saying guys-I am a woman and I'm sure there are others!
It’s English second language give them a break nervous
Ok guy
Thanks again for your video
Thanks for the information.
2018 h0w to bleed the radiator
Can I open the main cab??
Okay guys😅🙏🏼
Thanks so much 😊
Very helpful videos, can you make a video on how to change the valve cover gaskets on a 2012 bmw 328i Thanks
Remove everyting that interferes with valve cover -> remove valve cover -> change out gasket (or gaskets) -> do everything in reverse order :D
great
i tried to bleed without starting car but my headlites stay on?? PLEASE ANSWER as it ran mybattery down
Get a battery charger
Turn off your automatic headlight setting, set the dial straight up at 12 o'clock to "off"
Anybody here have a 530i and know how to bleed the air out ?
Did u find out the reason bc I have a 2012 535i ? Thank u if u respond
@@thetylergirlz2065 you have to use a battery charger so the car doesn’t die nd push the gas pedal down 3. Times with the ac on the lowest setting
Can’t you just run it with the heater on bleed it and check again? This computer process is too confusing
Does a z4 3.0 2005 has an electric pump? I follow these procedure and my beemer starter to drip coolant from some where underneath. I still haven’t check from where tho
awesome videos dude. bought on 06 with new rad, rad was faulty. installed new rad but dont think it was bleed properly by the garage. when i phoned and told them it almost over heated after 24 kilometers they said it probably had an air leak. what kind of garage installs a radiator without properly bleeding the thing? im waiting for the engine to cool down a bit before I try this solution.
can i try the key on and gas pedal down with heater on before filling the tank as a way to diagnose?
youir gas pedal is brake pedal?? you press brake pedal? I'm confused your speaking
