MY CAST iRON PAN COLLECTiON

- I wanted to share with you my cast iron pan collection. Like I said in the video, I have had cast iron for a while, but I really was afraid to cook with it. My dad used to make the best breakfast with cast iron. He was an all-around wonderful cook, but he was definitely the master at breakfast so maybe that’s where I get it from, but I just really wasn’t sure how to use it, and I worried about it rusting and not taking care of it properly.
We went to a huge camping and sports store and I saw this 16 inch beautiful cast iron pan I thought oh my goodness I need that that would be so great to cook with it because it’s so huge cooking for our family at 10 and with six boys, my kids eat a lot. Especially if I make one of their favorites, there’s usually no leftovers. But then, as I started to look and see that there’s so many different things that you can use for baking, grilling, and just cooking dinners and breakfasts. I was like wow I need to start trying these pans out
I found so many different pans at like garage sales and Goodwill and I’m like score because these pans are not cheap. They’re not cheap but it’s really cool that they have a lot of accessories that you can use and like I said in the video my daughter Izzy love small things and they’ve come out with a whole line of small little individual pans that you can cook one again or make one brownie or one cake. It’s just individual size and she absolutely loves them.
I know you guys have been asking for my Rae Dunn collection it’s just taking me a little bit because my cups are everywhere. I’ve been collecting them for years and as I pack up the different holidays they get packed up with that so I’m so close to being able to share with you my Rae Dunn cup collection And just keep in mind that I have been collecting these for years because I think it is going to be a little overwhelming. There is quite a few cups. And whenever I head to TJ Maxx and they have them on clearance I am all about a clearance cup.
How do you know you have the perfect coffee cup because you can get all four of your fingers into the cup and wrap your hands around them as you drink coffee. I never buy a coffee cup that I can only stick to fingers in or maybe three fingers in the handle if you can’t get all four fingers and that handle put that cut down. 😂😂

You should do a video on how you care for and clean them! Such a fun collection!
I agree, I would love to see a video like that!
I used it once, cleaned it, obviously didnt dry it properly cause it instantly rusted. so that's put me off.
I use a stainless steel scrub pad and dawn to scour the inside of the pan to clean any baked on crud off. Then I dry the skillet and wipe it down with a strip of bacon (bacon grease if you have it) and place the skillet in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Take the pan out and allow it to cool. Wipe the pan with a clean cloth to make sure there isn't any sticky residue. Coat the inside with a light layer of bacon grease and return to the over for 20 minutes. Allow to cool and wipe it out with a clean cloth. It should now be seasoned and ready to cook with having a nice even sheen on the pan. If however after seasoning the pan it remains patchy looking (like the big pan she is holding at 00:08:35), you will need to repeat the seasoning step for a 3rd time.
If I owned the pan she is holding I would strip the finish off with the scrub pad and dawn and start all over again. My grandma taught me how to season a cast iron skillet so long ago it was on a wood fired oven. I still use her old cast iron skillet to this day and it was probably made in the 1800's. When you wash your skillet use soap very gently and a sponge or cloth to clean your pan. Do not use scouring pads or harsh soap that will damage the pans coat of seasoning. I used to see my grandmother and my mother both, on occasion, wipe the inside of the frying pan with a little dab of bacon grease and then wiping it with a clean cloth afterwards before storing. I would assume you could use virgin olive oil or coconut oil to do the same thing but I do not recommend using margarine or vegetable oils (corn, canola, peanut, sunflower, etc.)
When I was explaining how to season and care for a cast iron skillet to my children they kind of flinched at the thought of wiping oil on a skillet then wiping the grease out (leaving a film of grease behind) before storage was somehow bad for your health. But what they didn't understand was a "seasoned pan" is a pan that has a build up layer of grease. If you clean and store your cast iron skillet properly some of the grease that is part of the "seasoning" could be 50 years old. So coat your cookware every time you have to scrub it clean and it will last you a long time.
Thanks, Mama Bell! Would love a video on how you season and clean these cast iron beauties!
Ditto that!!
This ☝🏻
I watch an older lady that shows the easiest way to clean a rusted cast iron.(Brenda Gantt)✌🌻

Love my cast irons....im from South GA and this is what I learned how to fry chicken and cook cornbread in....My granny taught us and I inherited hers in the early 90s and use them faithfully ❤❤❤❤
Aww josh is so sweet!! I bet he gives the best hugs ever!!
We got all of our cast iron at an estate sale, it was such a great find!
I was hoping you would talk about how you clean and take care of cast iron. Yours all look really nice. Great video!
I would love a collection like yours!
I love your collection.
Really beautiful collection of cast iron pots and pans etc. The wall is going to be super cool. Can’t wait to see it ❤
My daughters most used cast iron item is her cast iron kettle. It originally belonged to my son in laws great grandparents. It was originally used on the Franklin wood burning stove. I'm not sure that they are made anymore.
I’m so jealous of your collection! I love the pie plates!! I recently got into cast iron, my husband has been a fan for years but I was reluctant because I also just didn’t understand them. My grandma has taught me how to cook in them, she grew up using cast iron in the hills of VA growing up in a coal town with a family of 12. Cast iron is wonderful! I also have issues with storage though! I can’t wait to see how your wall turns out!
aww the Joshy hug.
That’s so thoughtful of you Lisa, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?

Josh at the end was priceless ❤
I'm jealous of all your cast iron pan collection. PS, Josh is such a sweetheart.
I knew the 16” giant pan was your favorite!!!! It’s mine too. I’m hunting for that pan ❤❤
In pioneer days they used camp dutch ovens and spider skillets. The kitchen was a large fireplace called a hearth.
Love cast iron!!
Love cast iron!! Jealous lol!!❤
Good cast iron collection.
I love the wok one
Love your collection and wish I could find it on the island but no luck so far. Thanks for sharing. Hafa adai and love from the island of Guam 🌴❤🌴
I have 4 cast iron products, 3 sizes of skillets and a griddle pan. We love them.
Griswold is my favorite but Lodge is nice too. Lodge has a rougher surface but when you get it seasoned it does really nice!😊
Josh is so sweet😊

Josh is so adorable.
Love my Iron
Can we have an updated video of 'get to know the bell kids' I was scrolling through your Channel watching old videos and they were hilarious. Love your videos!
I want to love my cast iron pans. I have some from when my mom was young! I can not for the life of me not burn whatever I’m cooking lol. And to season it?? Forget it 😂 please show how you maintain them!!!
Heather, have you tried making no knead peasant bread in your dutch ovens? Its so easy and I think your family would love it for sandwiches and toast.
I have some functional goals, like for instance, I want to be able to continue to be able to get myself up and down from the toilet, and no joke, one of my goals is to be able to continue to lift and tilt my cast iron pans, so I actually have been using them as weights to strengthen my arms and shoulders.
Have you done a cast iron care video? There are so many methods out there, it's hard to know what to do for cast iron, but yours are beautiful, so I would feel confident doing whatever you do.
I agree, her pans look great
you should do a cook Book that be awesome for someone that has big Family
Can you do a video showing what you do with a dirty cast iron pan? Washing, treating it, etc. I'm still too nervous to use mine. Lol
I just wash like normal and oil them up
Wow. I have never had one. To late now. We live in a senior place with two restaurants and all our food is included in our rent.
Awesome collection!! ❤️
Jealous!! We cook with ours every day ❤
That’s so thoughtful of you Michelle , Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
I'm jealous
I used cast iron alot I it got where I can't lift them more so I gave all to my son but when he passed on I am sure his wife now uses them.
My Dad bought a Lodge grill-on the site they call it a hibachi-when he and Mom were just beginning to date. He worked in the coal mines and bought it at the company store. He also raised cattle and farmed. One of their first dates, Dad saddled up two horses and they rode up on a hill to one of his ponds and grilled steaks for them. Coal miners weren’t rich back then. That was 65yrs ago. The grill is still in good shape and they’re in their 63rd year of being happily married.
Side note-if my granny ever saw me get her cast iron skillet near soap and water she’d chase me away😂
Thank you for sharing. I love that.
@@Justthebells10 I was blessed with amazing parents. I live on the farm next to them. Growing up I never once saw/heard them fight…never. Oh I know they must have had spats and now in advanced age I’ve heard them call each other an a-hole but never a real fight. If they ever did they kept it far from us.
I’ve used cars iron all my life I’m 66 and I always wash my cast iron with dawn dish detergent and scrub daddy then rinse and put them on a hot stove burner and let them dry and grease them up after that never had a problem with them and some of my cast iron is from back in the 1800s 😮❤
How do you clean them would like to see that
I was going to ask you what size is the best for a family of 5
Can you make a video on how to cure and keep these pans cleans because i cannot seem to handle them and i have a few pieces i got on super clearance like $8 and $12 for a set.
Would luuv to see a viď on how to clean/ care for them.
Mommy bells ilove cooking but i wish someday to have even 1 pc of cast iron.,.because cooking is fun
My question is about the pot, how do you make sure that the soup that is mainly water doesn’t ruin the seasoning and ruin the pot?
New video idea "cast iron cross training with mama bell" 😂
Can you do a cleaning video for cast iron ?
Pampered chef has a nice square shaped individual brownies kind of pan. They always end up perfect , not cast iron though.
You need the pizza pan !!!! It’s so good and you can make cookies on them to
Yes I do !!!! 😂
They. Make. A. Pizza. Pan?? Mind blown. I’m looking today! Thanks!
@@talklikeahick2u877 it’s fantastic if you get a small pizza peel you can have it heating up while you make the pizza …
How do you clean cast iron?
Is the 16" frying pan the biggest in tour collection?.]
I was told cast iron is not good with acedic foods so they don't get used as often as I would like
Do you find that true or am I listening to bad information.
Do u have small ones
Put a layer of Mineral Oil wiped around with paper towel after you clean it No rust!!
I’ve been married 45 years. I have so much cast iron.
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Do you avoid making gravy in them?I have a hard time cleaning after...
Use Dawn Powerwash in it.
@@MrsAlmaTrumble thought soap was a no no
@@teresaellis895 I've heard its okay as long as you rinse it really well.
I’ve learned to just cook lower temperatures, but they do have a metal scrubby that you can see the video to scrub the sides but I do use a little bit of dawn dish soap to and then I oil it after and it’s completely fine
I have a bunch of cast irons. My son wanted us to collect them and I never use them.
Omg. Use them. No soap. Just scrap stuff off. Hot water. Re oil with olive oil fry in oven. Done. Nothing sticks!!
Ok but do you use them all
Yes she does, How are you and how’s the weather over there
I've been using cast iron for years. When I cook for friends they say my food tastes so much better. The brownie pan tho excellent. The 16 inch is your favorite. That's kewl. Mine is the ten inch. It's just myself.
Does the food taste like iron??
Nope!
Please tell us you have a video of Haileys bf building the wall 🙏
Jealous!
Just as your posting this …. My cast iron pans are rusted 🤦🏽♀️ this is my third set
Don't toss them! Take some steel wool, scour the rust off, then look up a video on how to properly refinish them. Once it's got a good finish and you treat it well, you won't ever have to worry about it.
@@anzot6903 thank you
Paint a tree .hang them from every branch and call 'pan tree'
All my cast iron pans and everything else has been stolen...
