Is there really much to fanboy over though? From THIS? Every 1st party game shown was also coming to PC, and even some of the 3rd party games like Silent Hill were PC day in date. When you're a company that makes "exclusives" and games only on your hardware the only selling point, what did this provide? Microsoft could literally announce nothing new at their showcase & still have a better 2nd half lineup.
Showcases like this one have been slowly getting more underwhelming and I really think it's because of the end of E3. We were used to having a couple of days packed with all of the big announcements, from all of the different studios, but now all of that stuff is just spread too thin throughout the year.

Concord looked really really bad, Matty. Guardain's of the Galaxy X Overwatch, 8 years later isn't going to hype anyone. Also, it doesn't seem to be f2p, Sony will probably want $70 for it, so expect the devs to massive layoffs less than 1 year after release.

I thought concord gameplay looks awesome. Silent hill 2 could end up being a great remake of a horror classic. There’s more jrpgs coming out, and more VR games too.

I honestly can't believe Konami doesn't feel like they can safely invest enough into this game/IP to give it a really fair shake. It's just sad from all angles. It's a very seminal horror game.
Did you watch the extended showcase? Because I think it looks decent, the atmosphere and lighting was great, I’ll agree that the facial animation terrible but everything else looked way better than what the last trailer showed.

So over watch is the only game that’s allowed to have a hero shooter style game. Btw OW is dying so it’s a good time to come in and replace it. Every year there is fewer reasons to own a current gen console. It used to be the opposite in the past as the consoles exclusive library grew. I can’t justify putting my money into any ecosystem other than Steam at this point.

I still have a ps4 and I have tons of games I still gotta get to but there’s no Spider-Man 2018, God of War, Detroit, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima, or Last of Us pt 2 that makes me go “holy shit I’m missing out.” Only GTA 6 and Cyberpunk 2077 (won’t play on a ps4) are my biggest reasons for upgrading

I agree it was a pretty ok showcase, people did not temper their expectations and it’s telling. Compare it to other showcases and you’ll see it’s perfectly fine. It’s been a while since the last one, maybe you can justify some of the reactions.

God of war, horizon forbidden west, hell divers 2, ff7, ff16, spider man 2, stellar blade, and rise of the ronin are all games that made me get my ps5. Not to mention demons souls remake, returnal, ghost of Tsushima, and ratchet and clank previous to that 🤷🏼♂️ my Xbox has become my secondary console now and probably will be unless they can finally deliver with some of these games

Concord looks like Overwatch meets Guardians of The Galaxy, and it’s the only game that really enticed me in the whole State of Play. Was glad to see that Marvel Rivals is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
As Sony fan I found this state of play rather meh only a few of the games really interested me but to be fair this year in general hasn't had many notable new games this year outside of a few like helldiver's2 and ff7 rebirth

Also I find it funny that you say they're focusing on multiplayer games, yet all of sony's first party multiplayer IP's haven't received new games in decades and the only one that was being worked on (TLoU multiplayer) got canned.
nothing too exciting from PlayStation but what really sold me was Monster Hunter. I can already imagine that game consuming most of my free time next year
I watched it without knowing about the leaks and was really underwhelmed. Concord cinematic made it look like a cool alternative reality version of Guardians of the Galaxy. Gameplay was just reskinned Overwatch and meh. The sound design similarity was a bit too close for comfort. Behemoth looks pretty cool, but I will wait for it to come to Oculus or Steam VR. I don't want to invest in the limited headset of the PSVR2. Then Marvel Rivals, which honestly looks like the better Overwatch clone IMO. Where Winds Meet looks cool. That's pretty much all that looked interesting to me.
Fr real... we've seen so many of these souls Chinese/Japanese centric games. Some of these I can't even keep track of. I legit thought 2 of them were definitely phantom blade only for each game to have a totally different name lol

Dynasty warriors 9 has made me grown disillusioned, and 9 empires was somehow even worse. The mainline franchise is the worst it has ever been and its sad to think that the spinoffs are FAR superior to the base they grew off. I have no hope for the future of it
The only reason I don't think the state of play was awful is because Sony did say there was not gonna be any major releases until spring 2025. So that said this event was gonna be low tier
As a PS5 owner I though it was mid - Astro Bot and MH Wilds at the end saved it. Concord is not for me but I could see it pulling over a lot of dissatisfied Overwatch players
Nah I like his optimism. It's refreshing after reading all of hate on Twitter. I don't want these games shown to be bad, I love video games so the more good games we have the better. The only games shown that I hated was Concord and Rivals. Hero shooters are so boring and overdone.

Concord is set for a massive failure, its a new IP arriving on a very stablished and niche market. Most people who play this type of arena shooters are already years invested into the franchises they play on a daily basis. They simply don't have the time, or desire, to drop these games and start fresh on a new one.

This State of Play was honestly all over the place. Maybe that was intention? Trying to broaden their audience as wide as possible. Tapping into the FPS live service audience, the Marvel, the female demographic (with Infinite Nikki). Although, there are a few surprises with Dynasty Warriors Origins, Where Winds Meet, and Ballad of Antara. Overall, it’s pretty average. Announcing titles far too early only for the development to go dead silent until something goes wrong

Ragnarok on pc is the only thing I was excited about. I started to watch it when I got home from work, then read a 2 minute recap, and am very glad I didn't waste the time.
That was below average at best like it showed a lot of games coming out on 25 a lot of PC ports, a few multiplat games and literally its biggest game was the robot game at the end.
I personally though this was really solid. A couple bigger games that im very excited for and of course more Monster Hunter info is always a huge plus. Dont get why the internet is seemingly hating on it.

Astro was the only highlight. This was one of Sony’s weakest showings, in a down year overall for the gaming Industry.
The Alien game looked REALLY early but I’m hoping it’s like Alien Isolation

@@oliverkick915 this is an honest true. If you are serious about gaming, it is hard to justify NOT having a PS5. I have a PC and I do not understand how anyone can say that it is enough. It is not. I have missed so many great games and getting some of them two years later is embarassing. No one really cares.
The main problem I had with Concord was the lack of information about its pricing structure, not a good sign for a game that is releasing in 3 months.
Concord looks like Overwatch meets Guardians of The Galaxy, and it’s the only game that really enticed me in the whole State of Play. Was glad to see that Marvel Rivals is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
As Sony fan I found this state of play rather meh only a few of the games really interested me but to be fair this year in general hasn't had many notable new games this year outside of a few like helldiver's2 and ff7 rebirth
It is a down year for gaming all cross the board.

I hate that when games like concord/overwatch do fight scene trailers it’s just a bunch of jumping and shooting without anyone ever being shot or significantly hurt. Like there’s 0 risk in these trailers, lol idk that’s just always bothered me.
I know ex Bungie devs work on Concord, but holy crap does it look like they just lifted a whole bunch of stuff right out of Destiny. Even the animations look super similar.

nothing too exciting from PlayStation but what really sold me was Monster Hunter. I can already imagine that game consuming most of my free time next year
I watched it without knowing about the leaks and was really underwhelmed. Concord cinematic made it look like a cool alternative reality version of Guardians of the Galaxy. Gameplay was just reskinned Overwatch and meh. The sound design similarity was a bit too close for comfort. Behemoth looks pretty cool, but I will wait for it to come to Oculus or Steam VR. I don't want to invest in the limited headset of the PSVR2. Then Marvel Rivals, which honestly looks like the better Overwatch clone IMO. Where Winds Meet looks cool. That's pretty much all that looked interesting to me.
Overwatch copies, Souls copies, remakes, sequels. There’s literally no new ideas in mainstream gaming anymore, it’s so depressing.

I enjoyed the show for what it was. Its was a sop, not an E3 replacement. About 4 games there that I wanted to play which is great for me.
The only reason I don't think the state of play was awful is because Sony did say there was not gonna be any major releases until spring 2025. So that said this event was gonna be low tier

Concord is set for a massive failure, its a new IP arriving on a very stablished and niche market. Most people who play this type of arena shooters are already years invested into the franchises they play on a daily basis. They simply don't have the time, or desire, to drop these games and start fresh on a new one.

This State of Play was honestly all over the place. Maybe that was intention? Trying to broaden their audience as wide as possible. Tapping into the FPS live service audience, the Marvel, the female demographic (with Infinite Nikki). Although, there are a few surprises with Dynasty Warriors Origins, Where Winds Meet, and Ballad of Antara.
Overall, it’s pretty average. Announcing titles far too early only for the development to go dead silent until something goes wrong
