This was such a helpful video! I've been looking into abc for a few years now when trying to decide what I want to do in the future. I'm going into my senior year of highschool, so now I'm really trying to look into it a lot more. I'm already pretty well known in my area for dog sitting and am almost always booked. I've had many of my dog sitting clients ask me to train their dogs, so I have no doubt that I would be able to have clients right off the bat. My one question is, do you have to be 18 to start? I'll graduate at 17 and would love to start right away, or even enroll this year because I only have two credits left in highschool, so my work load is pretty light. If not, I'll probably just start taking some master classes and really work towards getting as much hands on as I can in the mean time.
I am actually enrolled in ABC Dog Trainer. I like you actually agree on the whys, I want to know why desensitize a dog or why we use certain terminology it might make understanding the term better. It got confusing on the terms. I remember that test! and the terms do they matter as much to know later on in the curriculum? I never got books! I just got the pkg didn’t recognize the clicker, lol! It was a little plastic box. I wish I had hard copies of the material we are studying. I hate reading it on my device! Thanks for this video!
Desensitization is a really important term to know. It's just like desensitization when it comes to human psychology. You're making the dog less sensitive to the trigger. Associating it with something positive instead of negative so the dog isn't afraid of it anymore.
Knowing what you know now if you were to recommend a training course to someone looking to get into the industry would you recommend the ABC or would you recommend a different course?
I understand completely what she’s saying with the advertising but at the same time like she said they’re the only ones you really see advertising that much it makes you think they’re with it because they are the only ones advertising 🤷🏾♂️
I am currently doing my externship with Animal Behavior College and you videos really help me. I am nervous that once I graduate that i will have a hard time finding a dog training job. Where are you located? Was it hard for you to find a dog training job once you finished with ABC? Thanks
Once I got my certification I actually started working at a local pet store as a retail worker and did training on my weekends. I ended up being lucky enough that the owner of that pet store was a pet nutritionist and I ended up in an apprenticeship for that as well. Regardless, working at the pet store gave me the opportunity to advertise my training to customers and once I was established enough as a trainer I was able to leave that job but had a good enough relationship with the store to host training classes there.
If you plan on being a VA for a while with a "one day I'll go to vet school" mindset, then this could be an option for you. If it were me, I would go to a traditional college and at least become a vet tech, if not complete vet school, if that is your end goal.
Hey I came across your video, and it's exactly what I wanted. I'm a high school student from India having maths and science as subjects and I really want to study animal psychology/behaviour. The problem is my country doesn't offer a major course. So I'm pretty sad about it, because that's my only field of interest! I want to know which universities abroad can I get into? for this specific course? I hope I get a reply! and thanks for such a wonderful info < love from India
Did you by chance go to a drama camp and/or music review close to the summer of 2000? Because You look like this chick I was somewhat acquainted with during my stay there.
Playback 1.25x is the best if it's too slow for you too

Can i do this while I'm residing in Canada
In terms of "continuing your education" is this program accredited, if you choose to go back to school for a degree?
Do you regret going to the program or is there another program you wish you had signed up for instead?
What does the final exam consist of? I can’t find any info on it.
So I’m currently enrolled and going through the program myself, so when you say more well rounded...where do you find the legitimate information?

Would it be good to do this before traditional college to be a vet assistant before working towards my vet degree??
