    You asked about the screwdriver... The 5th Doctor didn't really had one. At the very beginning it was destroyed, because the producers thought he could get out of difficult situations with ease thanks to the sonic and they didn't want that. That's something that I think the modern Doctor Who should do as well, just destroy the sonic and put it in a fridge for a while.
    Anyway, great reaction! I've been watching Classic Who, started with the 4th Doctor, but I'm in the middle of the 5th now and this special has a whole different meaning for me... It was really cool to rewatch it through your eyes.

    Peter Davidson was the Fifth and youngest Doctor, being only 29 when he was cast ( David Tennant was only four years older) and you certainly see a lot of him in Ten - however, the final speech to him about "you were my Doctor" was not David Tennant speaking, but writer Steven Moffat, who said his favourite Doctor was the fifth. A noticeable pick, as for most fans of the classic series, Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor was the 'default' favourite.

      I think Davison was Tennant’s favourite. He was born in 1971 and says he remembers watching and liking the latter half of Tom Baker’s 4th Doctor stories (so he probably would have been 6 or 7 years old circa 1977-1978) and would have been 11 when Davison took over the role in 1982. Davison was probably his favourite because he got to see his entire era and it was watching Doctor Who that made Tennant decide that he wanted to be an actor.
      Never heard that Davison was Moffat’s favourite Doctor either. Would have thought that as Moffat was born in 1961, he would have cited either Patrick Troughton’s 2nd Doctor (1966 - 1969) or Jon Pertwee’s 3rd Doctor (1970 - 1974) as his favourite.

    • @MichaelJohnson-kq7qg
      @MichaelJohnson-kq7qg День тому

      @@andrewroberts299Davison was definitely Tennant's favourite. Moffat has talked about how he loved Davison when he arrived because it made watching Doctor Who less embarrassing for him - he loved the show, and he loved Tom Baker's early years, but he hated trying to get friends to watch later Tom Baker stories with him to try to get them to understand why he loved the show.
      At least, that's what he said. But who knows, first rule: Moffat always lies.

    incase you or anyone here is wondering, any time multiple versions of the doctor meet, only the oldest will remember what happened afterwards, however the oldest will also start to remember what happened from their past point of view as it is happening, it seems to naturally happen too, as if time itself is doing it to prevent any paradoxes from knowing his own future, there is a small loophole in there, but for the most part this is how multiple doctor scenarios work.

    As far as the show is concerned, the Doctor wouldn't return to using it until the TV Movie from 1996 (part of a failed attempt to revive the show, though still counted as canon) although expanded media (books and audio) established the 6th Doctor using a sonic on at least 2 occasions,

    right so on the 5th doctor he was the doctor when David Tenant was watching the show growing up. there were doctors before the 5th who did use the sonic but they looked very diffrent to how they looked now and it really started with the 2nd doctor 5 had his destroyed and went hands free for the rest of his incarnation. it wasn't really brought back properly until the 8th doctor in the 1996 movie. the 5th was probably the doctor who interacted the most with his other incarnations on screen when this was released. mostly through the anniversary specials. specifically the five doctors wich really only had him interact with 4 of them since Tom Baker the 4th had just left and didn't feel right coming back after just leaving so soon. there was another multi doctor special for a charity event back just around the time the classic series was canceled but it didn't have the doctors interacting as much as it was past companions interacting with different doctors.
    i know its a long way away but i do hope you'll check out those classic multi doctor eps at least before the 50th anniversary as some important things that would seem small at the time become important especially for post 50th anniversary. you know beyond major lore drops in the three doctors and five doctors you'll see probably one the best companions of the classic series who isn't just Sarah jane.

    Do love these little mini episodes usually especially after a very emotional episode just to cheer up. Peter Davidson probably deserves a lot more respect he had probably one of the hardest doctors to be comming after tom bakers 4th doctor who for a lot of people was the best and at the time most beloved (now its tied between baker and tennant) tge celery on the lapel was to detect toxins in the atmosphere that can harm a time lord if it was in the air the celery turned purple

    Yes the cricket doctor (Peter Davison AKA The fifth Doctor). Is the doctor that David Tennant watched while growing up. Later on Peter Davidson's daughter Giorgia Davidson played the Doctor's Daughter in a David Tennant episode. She later married David Tennant.
    For you sick minded people out there, this is some kind of weird television incest. The 5th Doctor regenerates into the 10th/11th Doctor.. Then marries his own daughter.😂😂😂😂

    Ah yes, the old Doctor meeting their past incarnation, adventure. Also, are you ready for David's final season as the Doctor? This is probably my favorite season of this era, A LOT happens, and at the time it aired, I remember it feeling bittersweet becauseI had already known he was exiting the show at the end as well as Russell T Davies. Wonder if you'll feel the same, because his will be an end of an era of Doctor Who, "New Who"

    Damn, too slow and everyone else had explained Peter is David's favorite Doctor and father-in-law lol
    In all seriousness as someone who had only seen New Who up to this point, this and School Reunion got me really curious about Classic Who (have since seen a good chunk of it, mostly Tom Baker who is top three Doctors for me along with David and Peter Capaldi) and I adore how they have moments like this to honor the Classic characters and entice viewers to check out the old series.

    The flaw of 5th Doctor is that he had too many companions at once. The most he had once was 3. One of his companions was very annoying, Adrick. He acted like he knew more than The Doctor. The Doctor always showed he is wiser than Adrick.
