I agree with you Jason. I have never used an edger and have some beautifully edged properties all because of my good ol weed whip. Ive never seen anyone edge the flower bed or tree ring and i like how that looked when you were done. Im gonna give it a try at my house and practice. May be a new selling point. Here in Michigan, stripes, and clean edges sell.
When I use a string trimmer for edging I tend to consume alot more trimmer string...so I try to use my edger when its convenient. But it helps to have alot of options and tricks up your sleeve!
I agree. I’ll only edge areas with the string trimmer that the edger can’t get. Doing this I rarely have to re load my line. Maybe once every two weeks.
Are y'all having fun replacing those metal blades constantly? Lol, weed eater string is much cheaper. Learn to finesse it, meaning barely skim the edge so you don't eat away your string. Or keep using that gimmicky edger you justify the money you spent on it.
Jamie Pippin I agree on using a string trimmer on flower beds but for sidewalks/ driveways, edger is a must. The time you save is absolutely substantial and you get better results. Especially when you’ve got a lot of houses to get done
I think you do a real nice job and so did your wife on her first try in your other video. Thanks for posting these videos. I find them very helpful. :)
Literally just did this for a customer Friday, just as you said, the edger is more for sidewalks and drive ways, string trimmer does great on flower beds, tree rings, etc... What head are you running on your Husqvarna? I run Husqvarna as well but still have the original.
If anything using an actual edger takes longer. I can practically run with a string trimmer and still get a crisp edge. Plus you don't have to go grab two separate machines to do the same job.
Hey jason....The yard is coming along nicely! Im sure your happy to have the Bermuda spreading out aggressively. I may need to sod some zoysia under my oak tree next year. How well does it reel mow next to reel mowed bermuda? will it blend fairly well you think?
I wish there was a tip to how to keep the trimmer head steady WHILE WALKING. That's the trick to getting straight lines. You make it look easy but I can't seem to keep the head from bobbing all over the place while walking. Maybe the trick is removing the guard and letting out longer strings?
Put your elbow on the gas tank to hold it steady. Stand a little further from the edge so u can see and walk backwards. Master that before you walk fwd
Your edging skills are superb, but for viewing preferences I would recommend placing the camera in one location...Takes you longer to complete the job, but I think it's better for the viewers to see your all of your movements...Good tutorial, though!...
I prefer to edge from the inside of the lawn walking backwards, its harder but my edges are untouchable... I find it very odd these people wanted sharp lines on that sod instead of trying to make it look much more natural.
Is that a gasser. JkYou could .much better hearing protection, just sayin. Otherwise very good .But I will never buy a gas , an oil . They are loud and stink. Always trubl starting. If anything taught me keep electric. No more stink and hard starting. Most only last 2 yrs . Looks like great works.im way more into 40 vlt + Still informative
Jason, I live in NC and I have been edging that way for 50 years I can't comprehend doing it any other way. nice job.

A nice edge makes such a difference

Great Job!

Thank you for watching
AWESOME SAUCE JASON 👍🤓🇺🇸
You Always Teach me Stuff Sir ...
Thank you for watching
Great video you have some edging skills
Great video!!! Very nice edges
Very crispy!
Looks good!!
He's like a surgeon with that thing.
I started edging my driveway and sidewalk last year with my CURVED shaft trimmer! It works, but is hard on my back.
yea a straight shaft is way better lol. but seriously curved shafts are no bueno
Yeah it’s hard to edge with a curved shaft trimmer
I don’t even know why they make curved shaft trimmers. You can hardly see what you’re doing lol.
Good Job

You MUST walk half-sideways while holding your mouth in a slight upward frown semi-smirk.
I’ll try it. Looks 👍 great
I was a looser then I discovered trimmer line is so important twisted square line I like Oregon line it makes me look like I know what I'm doing
I edge all my customers beds the same way weekly. Give the yard a professional crispy look. Takes a couple extra minutes but hopefully sets me apart.

Jamie Pippin exactly they gotta step up their game 💯
Cool jason.
What size string do you use
Nice brother! I think I was edging in the wound.
Turning the trimmer upside will not harm it?😕. think i might try this now with my Kombi trimmer, so long as it won't harm the trimmer motor

You might look into Palisades Zoysia. I saw that it can be mowed at 1/2 inch
Very nice explanation looks like you are using a Husqvarna
💪💪💪 Thanks!!!
Results will vary depending on grass type. If the grass has thick stolons you simply won’t get as clean a look as with the edger.
Good info. What model husq. trimmer is that ?
What is that, the sod testing site??
4 people who can't edge with a trimmer downvoted this vid. 😏😉😆
What's the proper way to the hedges from inside on the grass or outside side walk?? The reason i ask is because you did it the two ways?

That’s what a guy on another lawn video said he does. No guard and longer string

It really depends on experience and practice
Do you go full power when edging or do you go half RPM??
If you run it at half speed it is a cleaner line and you kick up less debris.
@@saltylandscaper7193 and you have more control over it. I noticed that at full rpm it tends you pull you string into the line
Need to check out Q from blades of glory that guy can edge with a string trimmer
Blades of grass lawn care
I edge my flower beds with an edger. My weed eater game is weak.
You sound like your feeling under the weather ol buddy.
Been a little congested
@@lawncarelife hope you get to feeling better.

Me too for some reason it feels more natural to me
Any good ol boy knows walking backwards with a guard-less weed eater is the best way to edge.
I guess that makes me a good ol boy
He's done this a time or 2
🤙🤙🤙
After a couple rocks smack you in the face you'll go back to blade edgers lol.
Good job. Where's your guard
Probably in the garbage

That's not a ditch, it's a creek... Add $10k to your property value!
Man... im I loser😞😔
