    I left Windows for Garuda Dr46onized Gaming release 6 month ago, it is the first distro that inspired me to take the step over to Linux.
    Still I consider my self a noob and a GUI user but im slowly learning commands and how to use the terminal...
    Now im running my pc on four screens without any issues what so ever, customized about everything possible and it looks awesome!!
    After detoxing from Windows software I now use only opensource software, that took me some time, it was har letting go of the programs ive learned to master... Today I manage all my needs on my Garuda system, grahpic design,gaming, banking and all officelike tasks.
    I can very much recomend you to try Garuda!! I only found it after trying 25+ distros and at that time was scared of leaving Windows,
    you will probably find everything youre looking for in Garuda!

    One extra detail - try to use an AMD Radeon based video card (or onboard chip)- instead of a nvidia. AMD has created (for the longest time) open source drivers which mesh perfectly with Linux. Nvidia has not until very recently. They are just about to release some but even then they still can have problems.

    • @yodua8193
      @yodua8193 2 роки тому +1

      True, but if you have a good nvidia card, there is no reason to only use your onboard integrated one just to have proper drivers.

      @yodua8193 2 роки тому

      @@erisium6988 saying that a team size matters when it comes to drivers is the most backwards thing I've seen in a long time. Do any research in that area and you'll find out why making a team bigger doesn't boost your product's quality. It's like the basic knowledge in sociology AND in business. Also, yes, AMD has better drivers on linux than on windows because thy're open source. And one last thing: source?

      I'm looking to switch from Zorin to see if I can find something that works better for me and isn't such a PITA.
      Zorin is the first distro I've tried in many years and I'm basically a Linux noob. I love the look but I have a few issues and there are things I'd like to do that I just don't know how to and want to see if there is something better out of the box.
      Issues with Zorin include
      *Using analog audio outs the sound goes into a sleep state after a few moments of inactivity resulting in a loud hum from my amp. The only method I have found to stop it is a file edit that needs to be reapplied every time I restart the PC.
      *Restarting the PC doesn't always work and requires me to start the PC with the physical power button.
      *If I resume from sleep I must remember to first wake my display otherwise I lose video signal requiring me to reconnect my HDMI to restart it.
      *Apps in the app store that don't work.
      At least some of these are Ubuntu issues so may be an issue in any Ubuntu based distro.
      I also want a good weather app that lives in my system tray and has live view (like windows) and has weather for my city.
      Must be able to use NordVPN.
      As a bonus it would be great if I could easily create sandboxed webapps directly from a website in my browser.

      @@theauthenticsteve I don't know about running through vpn... never did that.. no need with linux. I would suggest DEBIAN based - they are FAST, STABLE- and don't change every time you turn the machine on. I'm running the new LMDE-5 and LOVE it- you can customize it like crazy easily- and it's SIMPLE- if you're familiar with windows- you'd EASILY be able to handle LMDE-5. It's in beta right now and I have YET to find any glitches, and I've been LOOKING for them.. There is one called Peppermint that nice- debian based- VERY fast and light weight- and POWERFUL. or Solus Budgie for simple- and Solus KDE if you want more customization abilities. and you can't really go wrong with POP OS-- if you like tiling windows.. it works well for GAMERS so should be fine for your amps and music stuff.. :) Put them on a USB and give them a try (don't have to install them- just run them live to see how they handle for you.)

    • @theauthenticsteve
      @theauthenticsteve 2 роки тому

      @@davidwayne9982 Cheers. About the need for VPN, there is a need in any OS. The purpose of the VPN has nothing to do with the privacy or security of the OS however additional security is provided by the VPN. The VPN has various functions ranging from getting around geoblocking to securing you privacy online. In Australia not only can multiple players see everything we do, our online activity is stored online by law for a minimum of two years and many Governments around the would either require similar by law or do it themselves. By using a VPN the only activity stored online is me connecting to the VPN, from that point they can't see the websites I visit. And although it probably doesn't matter if Government can see what I'm doing because I'm not doing anything wrong, the idea of all my data and activities being stored online ripe for the picking in a world of daily security breaches and the fact that I don't trust my own ISP... well a VPN allows me not to worry what could happen to my data because with a VPN there simply isn't any data.

    Deepin looks great but, I can't shake the feeling that their may be some state influenced code in it.

    Linux Mint Cinnamon with some oldschool Mint wallpaper, for me is the best looking. Still like it, camt even remember when I installed it. Maybe 2010 and kept it upp.

    Hats off to all forks of linux but i rather use something classic like fedora 38, it is stable, fast, beautifull, and runs on latest stable kernel and software..for me it looks better that all this forks..but it is a matter of preference..great job on video!

    Very happy with Zorin Core. Makes Mint look old and ugly. You can set it up to look basically like Win11. Getting the Start Button out of the corner is definitely a good idea.

      Also happy with Zorin. Only thing: Always takes 1.5 Years to be based on the newest Ubuntu. Zorin 17 based on Ubuntu 22.04 will only arrive 2023 around September.
      Goinna switch to either Mint, Fedora or cutefish if they release the final version.

      Agree but still way short of macOS. Unfortunately.
      Wearing your underpants on the outside does not make you Superman.
      Even simple tasks like a consistent predictable global menu with all the abilities of macOS is beyond Linux. That's without tackling the thousand other shortcomings. Consistently hitting problems you have to solve, I spent an entire morning just trying to get ISO date/time!
      IF you solve any of the problems you constantly run into, there will be another just around the corner and you are still missing all the useful features and Apps that come with macOS. But I live in hope that some day Linux will FINALLY deliver.
