- Here is how to get MGO2 Revival - SAVE MGO in a quick Step By Step Format. I made this video in case somebody wants to go back to MGO2. I also made this because there aren't many MGO2r Tutorials out there. Hopefully this will help you understand how to get MGO2 Revival. If you need more help, You can check out the developers forums which will be linked down below. I will also have the 3 files to download in this description down below in case you need them. Sorry for the terrible camera quality. I literally recorded this as i was installing all of this for the first time.

Step 0:
GET A PS3 (Fat or Slim) with Fimware Ver. 3.55
(I USED EBAY & GOT A SLIM - LOOK FOR GOOD RATINGS DUH)
STEP 1:
MAKE A "PS3" FOLDER AT THE ROOT OF THE USB STICK (FAT32)
STEP 2:
INSIDE "PS3" FOLDER, CREATE AN "UPDATE" FOLDER
STEP 3:
INSIDE "UPDATE" FOLDER, COPY/PASTE THE CUSTOM FIRMWARE FILE
STEP 4:
INSIDE "UPDATE" FOLDER, CHANGE THE NAME TO PS3UPDAT.PUP
STEP 5:
GO BACK TO THE ROOT OF YOUR USB STICK & COPY/PASTE THE
MGO2 LAUNCHER & MGO2 PATCH FILE
STEP 6: TURN PS3 OFF COMPLETELY & PLUG USB STICK IN (THEN OF COURSE TURN THE PS3 ON)
STEP 7: GO TO SYSTEM UPDATE & UPDATE VIA STORAGE MEDIA
STEP 8: CONNECT TO THE INTERNET WITH CUSTOM SETTINGS & CHANGE THE DNS TO WHAT YOU SEE ON SCREEN
(LEAVE THE REST ON AUTO) (WIRED OR WIRELESS IS FINE)
PRIMARY DNS 192.3.217.61
SECONDARY DNS 192.3.217.162
(IGNORE THE "INTERNET CONNECTION FAILED")
STEP 9: UNDER THE GAME TAB. GO TO PACKAGE MANAGER -
INSTALLED PACKAGE FILES - STANDARD - INSTALL MGO2 LAUNCHER
STEP 10: RUN MGO2 LAUNCHER
STEP 11: PUT MGS4 INSIDE & INSTALL MGO
STEP 12: QUIT GAME ONCE YOU REACH HERE
STEP 13: UNDER THE GAME TAB. GO TO PACKAGE MANAGER -
INSTALLED PACKAGE FILES - STANDARD - INSTALL MGO2 PATCH
STEP 14: RUN MGO2 LAUNCHER AND CREATE A GAME ID USERNAME / PASSWORD
STEP 15: AGREE TO TERMS AND PUT IN YOUR GAME ID / PASSWORD
(IGNORE ERRORS WHEN INSIDE MGO)
MISSION COMPLETE!

I cant believe the site is still up. I remember playing with people who started this. Back on the ps2 MGO i played with Darkzero, dam3_tacos, sub glitcha, Mr Game and more that I cant remember atm. It will always be one of my best gaming memories.
I think I'll try this when I get more money, I never got to play MGO 2 and I want to feel the hype. I expect you'll be uploading more footage of this game now that it's back.

Good news, it has been confirmed by the people of SaveMGO2 that MGO2 will be opened to everybody with OFW PS3s, they said it may be ready on April 27th, can`t wait to see everybody. RIP MGO3.

hi! im having a little trouble with Metal Gear Online 3 - from Mgs5 - Im doing the download Game Data and also the Patch most recent over and over again, installing and it all, but it still doesnt working.
then when i run the game (MGSV) it appears message saying to me to make this same process that i just did.. that are any chance you guys know why this happens?

i played this game for a very very long time, i was HeavenSoldier X from White Element, played also à lot thé very first mgo 1. watching some old vidéos of my mates and I playing got me so nostalgic that i'm willing to play this game again so bad. thé only issue is this firmware thing. I found on youtube, unless proven wrong, that it is possible to downgrade to 3.55 without buying à new console. I have no knowledge in these firmware stuff at all. I have the very first génération of ps3.

Not sure if I'm willing to go through all that personally, even though MGO2 is still at the top of my PvP experiences (in both fun and frustration due to all the glitchers) I think at this point I'd rather have a generic fan made version. I don't know.

if you already have Patch 1.34 installed you don't need to do anything
Do I have to install the patch and firmware change if I just want to connect to the DNS so I can get the DLC camos for MSG4? I'm on my first play through on a digital copy. I put in the DNS and when I tested I got an IP address but the rest of the connection failed. It also won't connect in the extras menu in MGS4.
Nevermind I figured it out. It doesn't work for the digital download version. It works fine with the disc version of the game. I followed the steps, but after running mgo2 I get a message saying "You have installed 1.34 before 1.00. 1.00 will not function correctly."
Set everything as it is in the video but it seems like the IP isnt autodected .. .dont know why any suggestions ? (already turned off, reinstaled it, re-set the dns and still no way around)

If we set up a custom MGO account can we request access to outfits we had unlocked on the official servers? I ask as I had a frog an loved the HELL out of that outfit... busted my butt to earn that thing. ...took forever tho. Can we make anything or is it still score/points based? Curious how if any access to all options that we have. If anyone here has tried this please comment with some info.
Everything is unlocked already. No tournament/survival, in-game clan menu doesn't work, but you can manage that on the site. You can play Free Battle, and I personally think that's the most important part.

Don't sign in. Since this is jailbreaking the PS3. connecting to the PSN will probably mess your PS3 up. You can probably play other games. i wouldn't recommend having the ps3 connected to the internet though.

so I had everything setup before on an old hard drive, I upgraded the hard drive, and thought id start over. Im attempting to use the JP standalone version, loaded into the correct place, then installing the launcher. supposedly before I move the .self file to the correct directory in the game files, I have to launch the game and let it install, but for some reason it wont launch. it boots me back to xmb, and even when I attempt to launch from xmb, it boots me straight back out. I dont remember what I need to do with the JP standalone to get it to work the first time. help would be appreciated.

Make sure you have your IP address set to auto. the only thing you want manual is the DNS settings.

It says at the start you need a PS3 that is OFW 3.55. If it's any higher you'll need to get it downgraded.

danny atkin yea, and there's a new update coming April 7th where you don't even need to get a 3.55 PS3, all you'll need is a USB and mgs4, all you'll have to do is move the files from your pc to your PS3 and you'll be set to play mgo2 again

Depends on your console and... it's hard to downgrade your PS3. If you do it wrong you will brick your console.
Safest/easiest bet would be to get a PS3 with official firmware 3.55

Ive figured out my problem. My PS3 is a 2006-2007 model but its on 4.80. Good news is I have a PS3 that can be jailbroken and downgraded. Bad news is I dont know how to do either of those things. Once I downgrade it to 3.55, I should be able to get on MGO2R but for now I cant because Konami has me hostage kek.
Find someone local that could do it for you, try craigslist i have also seen the service through Ebay for around 50-60 dollars you have to send them your ps3. I bought mine on Ebay already downgraded for 180 dollars

The game is broken tbh, it's unplayable. The amount of lag and sponging in the game is shocking. I have a good internet connection so pretty much every game i have a full ping and I'm in the UK, but the amount of people with red pings is silly, its literally full of people from the middle east talking arabic, that shoot you with impossible shots and sponge like crazy. Wouldn't even waste my time on it.
