- The original intro of Metal Gear Solid 1 remade with Unreal Engine 4.
Everything is real-time rendered with Unreal Engine 4 and made by Erasmus Brosdau with usage of various marketplace assets.
Audio is slightly remastered, new sound FX added, slightly other edit with new shots and a brand new start menu animation to bring it to a 2018 game quality.

Scott Harrison I mean, there was twin snakes which did upgrade the visual significantly, but again that was more than ten years ago. It still looks fine cause it has similar graphics to mgs2 which looks clean enough still today.
I wouldn't trust Konami with remaking this at all, if Kojima isn't involved I don't want to know

Exactly. Remember folks, back in the day, those graphics were considered top notch compared to the other titles. Crisp textures, clean animations and amazing lighting and color palettes.
In fact, I think MGS1 has aged like a fine wine.

The voice acting was so beyond its time when it came out that if they ever remade it now, they could use the original voices and it would still feel high quality by todays standards.
I wonder if it's been taken from the original or Twin Snakes. Probably the latter. Neverthless, performance in both games were great.

Why Twin Snakes didn't do this is beyond me. All the re-recorded lines had no soul to them like the original which would def still hold up today along with original music.

@@LoneTaurus82 If I remember correctly, I think it was Hayter that said it, that if the audio lines from MGS1 was reused, because of the GameCube's more powerful hardware, it would include the background noise while they were recording, which is traffic and truck horns, and etc.

So far it's looking likely. I'd kill for a MGS1, maybe even 2 remake alongside it, really hoping Delta is gonna turn out as good as it looks.

But honestly, between Mantis reading your memory card and going berserk on your controller, it was probably the shining high point in a game full of completely memorable moments.

This is just amazing. The little details - the brushed steel in the SDV, the little flaps which release air pressure, the model number K0-J1-M-A, etc. - props... big props. Liking that the original piece of music was left more-or-less untouched, composition wise. Really a truly great trailer and an excellent advert for how good a remake could be.
It's also a little detail that spoils it. Snake utilizes a Draeger Rebreather for the infiltration, which recycles all exhaled air. The bubbles in the first half shouldn't be there.
I clicked this expecting something on the levels of "NINTENDO HIRE THIS MAN" with a bunch of assets hastily thrown together.
I was wrong. This is outstanding. Genuinely great work. Keep doing what you're doing man, you're going places.

Metal Gear was the first game to feel like a Hollywood movie. It was extremely story driven, the voice acting until that point was over the top, the seriousness of it made it emotional the music was beautiful.
The cutscenes gave a great insight into every major character. I'm pretty sure I cried when the Irish music was played at the credits.

Metal gear solid was one of the first games i’ve played in my life. There are no words to describe my impression about this game. Only main menu music is more than enough to fall into nostalgia

I wasn't entirely satisfied with The Twin Snakes Version. One of the reasons is how dark the game's Bright Level looks. Another is the Glitches that keep you from getting 0 Alerts.
I remember revisiting Shadow Moses in that level in MGS4. I've played a good few remakes in my time but none of them hit me in the feels like returning to that level 10 years after I first played the original on PS1. It was like walking into your old school classroom as an adult. You're immediately taken back in time.

The kojima sign on the SDV is one of the many ways kojima wanted to solidify himself into his games, he did it before mgs 1, and did it in every game further on.
This habit came really useful when konami decided to fire kojima.

What this really shows me, is that the original metal gear solid for PS1 had such amazing cinematography, writing, and voice acting, that updating the graphics only adds minor additional value.

you're not wrong, the art style of the original game is phenomenal, even today going back to it, it's gorgeous... you don't so much see technical limitations, as much as you see creative choices! i think if anything, i'd love to see the game remade, but keeping that original artsyle, just in a hiugher resolution textures and models etc. To me, the game is as close to perfection as you can get just keep with that and bring it up to date with current tech....

As I recall, Konami’s crap reason for re-recording the script was that they couldn’t find the audio master tapes. You have confirmed my suspicions: that was a bad excuse.

The reason was that when they used the old recordings for the new game, because of the better technology of the gamecube, and new speakers you could actually hear a lot of background noise like cars going by. Either way they wouldve had to mKe new recordings because the remakes cutacenes dont play exactly like the original. Why would konami mKe an excuse for this? Why would they WANT to pay voice actors to rerecord the same lines if they could just recycle old ones.
the US voice cast is good, not A+++ material though. the Japanese version is definitely superior in terms of overall immersion into the cold Alaskan setting
In addition to Loading Gears' point, Kojima is (or was) one of those weird super-audiophiles. He insisted that all of MGS4's audio (or at least all the dialogue) be stored completely uncompressed. This is apparently a huge part of why so much of it had to be installed to the PS3's hard drive.

You can remake til youre blue in the face but nothing will ever replace waking up early Christmas morning in the 90s , opening your brand new Sony PlayStation and inserting the demo disk that came with the system and learning that Konami had redone metal gear solid and so you save up whatever money you can earn mowing lawns or painting the neighbors house etc .until you have enough to purchase the full game . That was one of the most wonderful memories of our young lives. To all my 1980s and 1990s peeps. . . Better where the days when we could stay at a friend's house for the weekend and play metal gear solid resident evil silent Hill and all the rest of the best without a care in the world. Back in the days when some of us still had BOTH parents. Much love to all of you guys. We lived through the beginning of these games and franchises so they will always hold favor in all of our hearts.
Hearing this whole scene with sleek graphics is a trip! I wish Konami wasn't so spiteful about MGS, especially when plenty of titles are getting remade and/or remastered in the last few years...
