I could fill you in on who Bruno is...but, you know....
Haha okay keep your secrets 😝
The first rule of Encanto….
...We don't talk about Bruno. And this is actually Disney, not Pixar.
Here is all the songs in order they appear in the movie:
The Family Madrigals
Waiting on a Miracle
Surface Pressure
We Don’t Talk About Bruno ( middle)
What Else Can I Do?
Dos Oruguitas
All of You
Encanto is Disney 60th animated film
The movie is really well written as well as the songs. Without getting into spoilers, Isabela's (the one in pink) dream coming true isn't exactly what it seams. And if you see at 6:05 she starts singing "I'm fine" over and over again instead of repeating her lyrics like the rest of them.
I can see the quality! Definitely going to be watching it
Actually that's Delores
@@caitlynjones1482 it's Isabela's voice. Dolores is still singing her verse
holy heck, I've heard this song and this video dozens of times and I never caught that. thank you.
If you look at the lyric video Disney put out, both Isabella and Dolores sing "I'm fine" at the end
Poor Bruno is more like a weather forecaster than anything. He just tells folks what will happen, he doesn't make it happen. But people love a good scapegoat. And it's funny because the guy who grows a gut can be seen eating candy multiple times during the movie 😅
He's also very fond of arepas, being seen snacking on them multiple times.
Honestly, those three bits in the bridge were just common sense: "Jorge, you eat too much, you'll grow a gut." "Father, your family has always had men who lose their hair, you'll lose yours one day." "Maria, if you don't put some plants in that water, your fish will die!"
Bruno is the black sheep of the family. Everyone has a 'useful' gift but Bruno has the gift of prophecy but because everyone only took the bad things he saw he became like a omen of bad luck when he reads your prophecy. He's pretty much martyred by the entire village to the point he made everyone think he ran away and hides in the walls of the house. He's never left but he keeps away from everyone because he is looked at so badly.
Yeah, it was terrible writing honestly.
@@clydefrosch Why do you think that?
@@clydefroschhow? It was a tragic story about loving and respecting your family vs attacking them and demonizing them.
And everbody ignored that he foretold Isabella that all her dreams will come true xD
@@shortstuff780 because they all acted like he decided the future, like the biggest morons. i give you that maybe, since he was real young, he probably was an ass about some bad fortunes sometimes, but they acted like bad things couldn't happen if he doesn't speak about them but they would've had like a decade worth of time realizing that things sometimes dont work out even when he's not there and that things also went wrong before him.
its just super moronic. if the matriarch wasn't such a moron, she would've kicked all the other kids in the face to keep him around and happy as an early warning system for the kind of danger she experienced in the past.
its just very stupid.
I think the best context for this movie is just to listen to the first song in the movie "The Family Madrigal" that explains the family members and what their whole deal is (tho it does move kinda fast)
Just keep in mind that everyone's gifts reflect their character and/or their role in the family as they're all based on familial stereotypes/tropes (mischievous cousin, tough sibling, golden child, etc.)
I think you'd really like the song Surface Pressure from Encanto. It would be interesting to see your reaction as someone who works in the psych field.
Okay, I’ll definitely be watching that Kathleen!
"Bruno" is catchy, but Surface pressure is the one that gets stuck in my head. Probably my favorite song in the whole movie!
My favorite Encanto song
@@taybear2398 Same. It was the only one I liked from the 1st listening. I even made a video with the italian version(with English subtitles)using Buffy.💛
@@nickforellreactsyou never did
Oh... oh no.... is it going to be another 6 months with Encanto dominating my brain? GUESS SO! Not mad about it. Love it.
Hahaha Darth I’m sorry
I'll be singing this for weeks now 🤣
The villain song did this to me
Absolutely ADORE this film, and all the songs are straight-up bangers!!! You should absolutely watch it, and I’d love to see you do a reaction video when you do. It’s one of those four-quadrant films that from the trailer seems to be yet another formulaic coming of age tale, but then completely CLOTHESLINES you with emotional depth and layers of true-to-life complexity and metaphor once you actually see it. It’s stunning.
I would love to see you do a movie reaction to this one!! It’s sooo good!
I may have to do that!
Agreed!
We definitely need this!
Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius. Besides Hamilton, the opening of In the Hightsnis another masterpiece ( and since is the opening, you don't need any context 😉). He didn't direct the movie but is based on his play.
Please do Surface Pressure next from the same movie!!!!
Okay bissy!
I second this… surface pressure!!
I 3rd this. Nick this one is GOOD!
I’ll add my fourth - Surface Pressure is awesome.
Yeah, without getting into what bruno is in universe, the only character to speak "positively" about the visions is actually a bit more nuanced. Her character is all about being miss perfect, and she has friction with that idea at times, as her own "perfection" alienates her from those around her through jealousy. From the outside looking in, those visions ARE perfect, leading to yet more jealousy and "oh, look. miss perfect doesnt have to deal with the doom saying", but to her, it IS doom saying. She wants something new, yet her prophecy suggests she will forever remain a static, "perfect" character. No real surprise there, but when dealing with prophecy in fiction, there is almost always more to the story than just the surface level interpretation, even in something as mundane as "i sense rain on your wedding day".
I definitely agree that Isabella probably ends up alienated because she's one of few (if not the only) to actually receive a "good" prophecy. But as far as we know, Bruno never says she'll be "static" and "perfect". He says that she will have the life of her dreams and that her power would be stronger in the future. Spoilers:
We don't really get a set time for when Bruno disappears, so we don't exactly know when he gave her this reading. But she was very likely a child, probably barely older than Mirabel was in the flashback we see from Abuela at the end of the movie. Like you said, it is very nuanced, but it's important to note that she says the life of her dreams is "promised" and "would someday be hers". It hasn't happened yet. For everyone going on about how perfect and great she is, she knows she isn't happy. She knows that she isn't living the "life of her dreams" and that her powers aren't growing because everyone is just expecting the same beautiful flowers from her. She knows that she isn't meant to be static because she's seen her future, but she's putting up a front for the family and waiting it out.
@@HexalianRebelAgent Yeah, complicated. The lack of time table is the condemning factor. "promised" and "some day" give no indication when happiness arrives, and it could be (without hindsight of the entire movie) as late as her deathbed. That is no promise, and only causes anxiety until it finally happens. Then her growth gets complicated again by the language, as "grapes on a vine" generally has more positive bias than the more literal representation the metaphor has. "growth" could simply be mastery, not change. THAT is why i say "static", not because it is reality, but because it is her greatest fear. She fears that her power will simply grow mastery, not mutations or a broader scope. She fears her promised happiness is not worth the anxiety of waiting for it, or that it is a complacent happiness (growing to accept her reality) instead of an enlightening happiness (feeling completely fulfilled with her life and powers).
Again, "static" the fear and very real perception of those around her, not "static" as in incapable of change. Change always happens, but it is when the change affects the person that they move past being static. A typical Mary Sue is the same character at the start and end of a story, despite the world around them changing and reality warping around the whims of the fanfic character. (would crazy ship of the week number #59729 have any chance to happen in the source material? If it is a completely unique character, almost certainly not without care to separate the self insert.)
@@HexalianRebelAgent About your spoiler. They actually do set a time as Mirabel was 5 when she didn't get a door. The future reading a few days later lead to Bruno disappearing, so 10 years before the story. Isabella was 11 as you seem to forget she is Mirabel's big sister and the oldest of the beauty, brawn, brain set with Louisa being in the middle with being 9 when Bruno left. Ages of the family can be found on the internet.
I will absolutely recommend VoicePlay's cover of this song, they absolutely slayed it!
The Family Madrigal is the opening song of this movie, and explains that every member has a "miracle" (basically a superpower.) The boy changes shape, the girl in purple grows flowers, the woman who got married controls the weather, and Bruno tells the future. What THIS song tells you, is that his visions are usually on the doomsayer side of the spectrum.
However, it is FASCINATING to hear his prophecies, and see how they turn out. Even without spoilers, what do YOU think would happen to a bride on her wedding day, if she could control the weather. Obviously it would be bright and sunny... and it was, while she was calm and excited. But many, if not most wives would tell you, as the time to walk down the aisle got closer and closer, they got nervous...
Likewise the song "What Else can I Do" explores his prophecy that "my power would grow, like grapes that thrive on the vine." It is a beautiful, powerful song. Most Encanto songs are, and they are often favorites of people who study psychology in one way or another.
Oh wonderful, well I love psychology! Can’t wait to watch the full film
The family in movie have special abilities and Bruno’s ability is that he has premonitions. But when he tries to use it to warn people about approaching misfortune instead of trying to prevent them or accept them in a “que sera sera” type of outlook they all shoot the messenger and blame Bruno for causing the same misfortune he tried to warn them of. Unable to handle the ridicule he goes into hiding and everyone thought he ran off but he still loved his family and wanted to stay close so instead of running off he hid in the walls of the house.
You would think that what Bruno told Isabella (the flower girl) was a positive thing, but as you watch the movie you find out it's not.
I mean, it is a good thing. Like, it gives her some hope to cling to that everything is going to be alright. Obviously she has her issues like everyone else in the family, but she has hope for a better future. She knows she will be happy eventually
It's both a good and negative thing. Because the life of her dreams is something that she was afraid would be a disappointment for her family which scared her but she hid it while helping her family in a way contrary to what she actually wanted.
@@TheSansationalSans I saw a theory video(Wotso, I believe) that theorized everything Isabella sang of was a curse TO HER. The reason she hated Mirabel so much was because Alma ignored her completely. Isa wanted to be ignored by everyone and couldn't figure out why Mirabel didn't.
Its actually fun watching you try to piece the scene together with nothing for context. Its cool to see.
It was tough!
Last time I was at Disneyland this came on the park speakers with the video projected on the front of Small World. Kids and adults together…”we don’t talk about Bruno, no, no, no”. It was so much fun!
Me and my husband were planning a surprise beach trip for the kids last summer. My BIL slipped and almost gave it away, and my sister wagged her finger in his face and said, “Honey, we don’t talk about Bruno!”
My daughter popped up from around the couch and goes, “I know that song! I love Bruno!” Next thing I know, there is a legit singing and dance party in the living room straight out of, well, a Disney movie as everyone is singing “We don’t talk about Bruno!”
Lin Manuel Miranda nailing it yet again
I’ve seen him in curb your enthusiasm but never in Hamilton which I know he’s famous for
@@nickforellreacts I definitely recommend watching Hamilton! It's crazy well written. Would love to see your reaction
@@nickforellreactsso amazingly talented, if you're watching the stage show that's on Disney then it's Lin Manuel Miranda playing Hamilton himself and he's also responsible for writing the thing!! He's truly a creative genius
@@christianseibold3369 man what a powerhouse
@@christianseibold3369he didn't write Tick Tick Boom though, he directed the amazing movie, but Tick Tick Boom was a play writen by the legend Jonathan Larsson (gone way too soon).
This movie was done by Disney Animation. Pixar actually didn't do the animation for this movie at all. The music was done by Lin-Manuel Miranda and what he said about this movie was it is about how simple family is and how complicated it is. When you watch it you totally understand that. We Don't Talk About Bruno is specific to we aren't going to talk about something but that's all we talk about. He was the perfect person for coming up with the music for this movie. It is a must watch. Grab tissue.
Bruno is the part of the family portrayed in this song. He is treated like a black sheep of the family and believed to bring misfortunes through his visions of the future. Although it is unfair. After all he only tells what will (or rather may) happen and not brings the misfortune. Basically the scapegoat of the community. The movie kind of explores the misunderstanding of individuals and blaming them for everyone's problem through this character. And also some other toxic behaviours that may occur in your everyday family.
The entire movie is super engaging.
You should absolutely do a follow up after watching the movie and understanding the context.
Bruno’s the misunderstood uncle by the way! 😂❤
He’s very much loved at the end of the movie :)
Haha okay I think it’s time to watch it :)
As I have no video streaming services, I still haven't seen Encanto in full. However, I've watched the song videos, plus endless reactions to them, including from therapists analyzing the psychology of the movie, and I've seen at least 10-15 reactions to the movie. Each one cuts the movie down to less than 30 minutes, so I still have missed a lot of scenes, but since each reactor tends to clip it in different places, I'm thinking I've probably seen at least 85% of the complete film. I keep being tempted to sign up with Disney + but I'm a professional-grade ditherer, so that's still something I'm thinking over.
Please do a movie reaction video - maybe I'll pick up a few more scenes I've missed! :D
Just watch it. Soooo good.
Really enjoyed seeing you check this out for the first time, thought everyone had heard this by now with how famous it was when it released.
If you're looking for some context then the song 'The Family Madrigal' is a good one to check out. It takes place right at the start of the movie and sets up the plot very nicely as well as explaining a little further who Bruno is in the the context of the movie.
Aw yes I’m just so behind on Pixar and Disney films. Definitely seems like one I need to watch from start to finish!
Surface pressure was my favorite song in the movie but this was a close second. If you loved this you need to watch the cover done by voice play, it’s amazing.
“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” was the top of Billboard 100.
I think it's fun watching people react to it with no context because of the theories they make, in addition to their opinion about the music and visuals. But yeah, I definitely recommend watching the movie, it's so great - the songs, the colourful world, the story! Ah yes, if you're even a little prone to crying when watching movies, prepare some tissues.
I shall bring tissues
Surface Pressure is my favorite jam from the movie
Encanto wasn't made by Pixar. It's from the Disney Animation Studio. The team behind this movie is awesome ❤️
I love this song! VoicePlay does a great cover of this song.
THIS. I’d love to see him react to some Voiceplay!
A good way to get a good context for this and the rest of the music is to watch the song "the family madrigal" which explains alot. After that "surface pressure" and "what else can i do" are both great songs as well
I listened to the song. Your video was completely covered after your first break.
Yes sorry, copyright would not let me upload, it’s Disney afterall
@@nickforellreacts No worries. I wasn't sure if you were watching what we were watching.
Love Encanto and love this song! It's so catchy.

The movie is set in Columbia and the songs were written by Lin Manuel Miranda. It’s a masterpiece visually & musically.
The music was written by Lin Manuel Miranda, you should see hamilton too!😍
I know I’ve completely dropped the ball on that.
Thanks to you, I'm once again obsessed with Encanto songs. Not complaining, but do you have any idea how hard it actually was to get it out of my head for a bit?
Haha, I have brought it back into your life!
Another good one from that movie is Surface Pressure.
The family name is Madrigal, and this song (last part) is a madrigal 😄
Encanto is a great movie to watch twice, because it has so many little moments that make so much more sense once you know everything that's actually going on.
Can't wait to watch it in full!
Bruno is a prophet who has the power to see absolute futures. The only problem is, the only futures he can see are odems-dangerous and terrible visions that will inevitably happen.
People generally don’t heed his warnings well though so when it does happen, they blame Bruno for “causing it”. Bruno’s treated as if he’s a curse in the community.
The boy who voices the shape shifter had never sang in a movie before, he had no vocal coach or any singing past.
Animation can heal the soul
Bruno is an actual real character, part of the family Madrigal. He has the gift of prophecy, and no one in their family or their town seems to understand that prophecy =/= making something happen.
I'm a 50 year old man, and absolutely love Encanto. I can't recommend it enough.
Also Coco. If you haven't watched Pixar since Wall-E, then you missed Coco, which is another musical gem in the Disney/Pixar catalog.
Both sound incredible
All the Music from this Film was written by Lin Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Moana), so you KNOW it is going to be awesome to see the whole thing. In fact, Lin Manuel Miranda named the character Bruno specifically for the "We don't talk about Bruno, no no no no" line
Would love to see you react to Encanto!
This is Disney btw! Not Pixar
Encanto is about a magic colombian family with 'gifts' but Mirabel the girl in the scene the main character didn't get one.
Bruno is Mirabel's uncle, he is a triplet with Mirabel's mom and her aunt Pepa the one using the weather. His gift was seeing the future- he doesn't have a choice in what he saw. people didn't like it when he saw bad things despite asking him to see their future.
He dissapeared and the family mantra became we don't talk about Bruno
Here's a simple synopsis with a minimal spoilers as I can manage.
The Madrigal family fled political violence in Columbia. When the grandfather died protecting his wife, a candle she was holding became blessed by a miracle. It never burns out, it created a hidden valley to shelter them, brought their house to life and gives every single descendant a magical superpower that matches their personality... until the granddaughter Mirabelle is meant to get her gift and nothing happens.
The rest of her family use their super powers to help the community they live in. She's seen as "less than" though by some of her relatives.
This song is about her mysterious uncle Bruno who had the gift of prophecy. However years ago he suddenly left without explanation. This song reveals that most of the town blame him for giving them bad news about their future. Although his power is prophecy, he doesn't make bad things happen, but he's still blamed for it anyway.
You have to see. I'd actually watch you doin reaction to you watching the movie. Hugs from Sweden.
Surface pressure next 😊please!
We are singing this song in our students-choir with mostly 50 to 80 people and it is by far one of our most beloved. I'm usually not a fan of the out of nowhere singing that is happening in disney movies, but i really love this one. So glad you reacted to it. Hope you have a fantastic week mate!
2:30 Bruno is a member of Mirabel's (the girl with glasses in the song) family it goes the grandma the triplets Bruno ,Pepe, and Juliet Pepe and Juliet have their own kids basically a magical candle gave the kids powers and the kids of the triplets (except for Bruno he doesn't have any kids and Mirabel who wasn't given a gift for some reason it's not explain why in the movie )also have powers Bruno's is that he can see the future but every time he does things usually end up in diasterious (almost like knowing too much about your future is a bad idea) he was ostracized from his family because of his gift and ran away becoming the black sheep of the family ( even though it wasn't his fault he never asked for these powers to begin with and it's really the people who asks asked's fault
Bruno: Hey this is how the future will playout if you make no change to your life.
Most of the people in the family from the movie have powers and Bruno's was essentially being psychic and sometimes people don't truly want to hear the truth so without spoilers he makes a prediction that the head of the family didn't like so he was ostracised and kicked out of the family.
I am going to have to see this!
@@nickforellreacts You should, it's a fantastic movie!
At some point, definitely check out Voiceplay's cover of this, especially since it seems like you enjoy top tier acapella...
I'll check it out!
If you haven't watched the movie yet at this point, which you should, another great one to react to is Surface Preassure. We Don't Talk About Bruno is great, but that one is my favorite.
You should really react to the other songs from Encanto. They are really great. I recommend Surface Pressure and Waiting On A Miracle
Dam it! Now my nuro spicy brain is not going to let this ear worm go 😂
Tio Bruno! He's the brother of Pepa, the lady in yellow, the uncle of everybody else. (except obviously Felix since he's Pepa's husband)
Treat yourself and watch Voiceplay's cover of this.
Oh I will!
Well, you have this, and you've npw dipped your toe into acapella with Pentatonix. There is an acapella version by the band Voiceplay. It's very good technically and it's also just fun to watch. Highly recommended.
I’ll definitely be checking them out!
I could talk about all the sisters and abilities and what's going on, but the best advice I can give is watch the movie..lol, it's such a good one. I loved pretty much all of the songs, Mirabel is such a great character..I think you'll really enjoy it. Plus you can split song reactions from it for UA-cam like you've done with Bo if you'd like..lol, get some content out of it and get to enjoy a good movie.

It’s become one of my favorite memories. ❤
Hahaha that’s amazing. A true family affair
Nick you need more Disney Pixar in your life if the last film you saw was WALL E !!
Encanto and Coco are the best ones to date. I am tempted to patreon for you to watch the coco movie and give us a reaction of the last 10ish minutes of the movie 🤭🤫❤️
Awesome unexpected reaction! :)
He is real. They all have magical powers. Watch the film!
What blows my mind is that Disney occasionally pulls up movies like this or Coco, brilliant movies with an insanely talented and diverse cast. But also manages derivative porridge like the live action remakes that are plain cashgrabs with no thought or originality in the making of..
I know not every project can be a hit, but it feels like the teams that were behind the successful bangers they create should give the CEOs a clue as to where the money really lies :p
Not actually considered a Pixar film, Disney Animation claims it (Usually the ones that would be considered "musicals" aren't done by Pixar (that includes Coco ... while it has lots of singing, it's in-world singing, not "music video" singing).
This isn't a Pixar film but I get why you would think it is. This was done in-house by Disney, who pretty much adapted a lot of Pixar's style because they don't want to make any more 2D animated films.
...Other than that, great reaction ahhahaha!
I actually saw an edit of this song before the movie, so I went in thinking Bruno was some kind of powerful shapeshifting villain in the sewers with an army of rats. I love being surprised.
As far as I know, this movie is not Pixar. it’s from the Disney Animation Studio
“Surface pressure” is THE song. Don’t look up a synopsis of the movie. Watch the movie. All the songs are excellent. Surface Pressure is the best.
So you’re “blown away” by the visuals? Haha.
To fully understand you do need to watch the movie to appreciate the family dynamics. Voiceplay does this song and it is fire! You should treat yourself to what Voiceplay can do with it! At your convenience, I’m not pushing you! Also you won’t need you block the screen with Voiceplay, they are reactor friendly.
This isn’t Pixar, just Disney :) this is one of my favorite movies EVER!
Oh wow, I definitely need to see it!
Would love to see that reaction :)
I remember this song was my first introduction to the movie… I remember hearing “Hey sis, I want not a sound out of you.” And I remember thinking “WHOA! Bitch alert! 🚨”
I now know that she had her problems but I stand by my original assessment! Though she improves by the end so give her a second chance.
Hahaha that made me laugh
Can I suggest an idea? You could watch the movie and record yourself watching it, but post your reactions to each song as seperate videos. We would all tell you more, but I fear.. we don‘t talk about Bruno!
Do a reaction of The Family Madrigal sung by Mirabel. In it she tells who each person is and explains why they are special. But even then you really need to see this movie.
Thank you Diana! I'll check it out
In the song the lauder the singer the less of a truth it is the words
Don't mention coffee....
'WE don't talk about brew no, no, no..'
1) he’s real
2) it’s funny because the girl who seemed to have a positive future didn’t even want that so it wasn’t really good for her wait her 😂😂😂
honestly if you haven't seen a Pixar movie since wall-e if love to see some movie reactions you mention worrying about the copyright briefly here so if I were to recommend anything if lean towards a more "blind crew" way of reacting pause to give comments at the time but also take notes during and maybe in post production you can splice your thought in or a wrap up at the end. As you know Pixar films pick up a younger audience but they tackle some really mature themes i think you're unique insights as a Psych nurse could really add value to the reaction as a whole but also on the themes and topics and how important is it to not gloss over these themes, loss, mental health a or of animated films introduce these topics and I guess they try not avoid these topics because they are so important to talk about.
Up is an obvious one, honestly you story 3 is underrated huge themes of letting go and moving on, inside out is all based on emotions, coco,
If the reaction format is still a bit shaky i think almost a review format where you kinda summarise it maybe could work too.
Definitely considering doing this! Just need to fix my darn camera. It doesn't do well with longer than 30 minute videos.
WATCH IT, twice.
Their's no picture-in-picture from 2:41 to 4:18. It's all blurred out.
