"Remember Me" always destroys me, specially in the context of the movie. "Coco" is a masterpiece.

They do know that Disney movies go back almost a hundred years? Some of the best songs are the older songs. They should be selecting equally from all eras of Disney movies.
I think what's interesting is that Disney is so so linked to the stage of life . The elders remember what they watched as a kid, what their kids watched maybe . It's why you can pinpoint a person's age by what Disney movies you've seen
@@leescience Can't disagree with that. I still think that when you are doing something involved with the best of Disney, you need to use data from ALL of the history and not just a period of it.
The other issue is how many of those songs have withstood the test of time? The Mary Poppins one is one such case that I can remember that has stood the full test of time, nearly 60 years. Most of the songs are also 30-40 years old, so have proven their longevity to some degree too.
I do agree they could've done better with more older songs but I think your criticism would be better placed if you suggested some of the earlier hits you feel they missed.

I think where this video was pointed was movies that came out after or around when they were born. The one lady said she was born in 64 when Mary Poppins came out.
I'm gonna try this with my dad over the weekend who was born in 48 and go a bit further back to disney movies he might have seen as a kid. I disagree with the one comment about "songs that stood the test of time" bc i was born in 88 but didnt know Newsies from 92 which was when I was 4 and i consider myself a disney fanatic especially considering i knew every other one of these despite my age.

I love how emotional, sensitive and sweet are Elizabeth and Libby! But they're ALL so cute and wonderful elders! Please, tell them that we love them so much!
I definitely think it's the story that makes you attached to the songs. So the movies that they hadn't seen, they had no emotional reactions promoting a love of the song ... But even years after the fact they love and remember the ones they watched as children

My favorite song is from Mulan, Reflection. I resonate so much with that song as I do feel like I am putting on a mask around others.

Fun fact: In Sweden, we all watch Disney cartoons at 3 pm on Christmas afternoon (we celebrate on Christmas eve) and in that show, they sing "when you wish upon a Star", so EVERYONE in Sweden thinks about it as a Christmas song. I actually didn't know it was in Pinnochio and I'm 30+.

Despite me ragging on a lot disneys creations and it as a company, this is my favourite tradition. Many happy memories cosied up with my cousins on the sofa watching it on Christmas. Cant wait to eventually move back to Sweden
Beauty and The Beast is the reason there is now a Category at the Oscars for Best Animated Feature. It was nominated for Best Picture and studios didn't want to risk the possibility of losing the Best Picture Oscar to a cartoon so they added the category.
