Emilie, I really love this whole series! You've converted me from jewelry only to fairy dolls! In fact, I will be doing my first craft show the first part of March, with fairy dolls and wine cork fairies on a manzanita tree branch with star lights. Haven't tried the curly hair or mermaid yet; they're next. Thanks again for this wonderful series!
OMG!! You read my mind as I was just thinking about curly hair yesterday while making some fairy dolls! I've made about 20 fairy dolls so far from your videos and just random flowers I found. I love every single one of them!!
Oooh that’s how you curled the hair! I was imagining everything from hair spray to mod podge to a teeny tiny curling iron. Because I’ve already seen a couple of your videos where your dolls had curly hair. 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I've worked with curly haired dolls b4 & found that if I loosely wrap her hair in cling wrap & tape the wrap 2gether, it helps keep the hair neat & not fray, or straighten. Love the Fairy Dolls, I'm getting ready 2 start my very 1st one soon.
LOL I think the hair looks like Top Ramen noodles! Oh, that's a thought, a soup fairy... YES!! Food fairies!!! I am going to try and do that... :) Ahhh, I love these videos. I like doing crafts and I find that these crafts are fun.
I have kept up with your fairy doll video's and have made a few. I was curious if use a hair dryer on low would work as well. I know viewers such as myself can ask the most wild questions...but I think some of use believe you have tried everything before doing the video and I feel you do a great job of making all your videos and I for one will continue to watch. Thank you for sharing your talent and hard work with us.
I AM GLAD TO KNOW HOW YOU DO THIS KIND OF FLOSS CURLY HAIR. I HAVE USED THE CURLY HAIR FROM THE DOLL SECTION AT HOBBY LOBBY AND WOOL AS WELL, AND THESE TWO MAKE NICE HAIR FOR THE DOLLS. I LOVE MAKING THESE DOLLS. I MUST HAVE MADE OVER 40 DOLLS SO FAR. IT IS SO ADDICTIVE, BUT VERY ENJOYABLE TO MAKE. TFS. DAWN IN TEXAS.
wow, I was just trying to figure out how to curl the hair, i was going to use a curling iron lol (bad idea) and youre right the hair takes the longest to do, its very tidious. Great video
Me and my mom r doing these together. It’s nice bonding time and I thought about decorating our tree this year with ones we make. Mom always has a Xmas eve party so I thought we’d let each guest take a fairy. Thank you so much @emilie lefler, ur tutorials r great!
Thank you. I have a question. What if you use these technique on a doll that you can wash. Will the curls stay curly after a machinewash? (I am sad because I think the answer is no…)
pls do not say "X-mas" because that is not a shortcut for christmas and i dont think that it is about christ if you say "X". pls dont be mad at me i'm just saying that do not say that term :)
Do you ever put faces on your dolls? I think some eyes with long lashes and soft pink dusted cheeks with a red bow mouth would be sweet! These are super darling!
@@cotatidiva I made some and I just stained the wood with a bit of stain on a rag. I stuck one of the wooden skewers through the hole and let it dry over a glass. They came out really well. I've sold 2 or 3 stained ones
Just a quick question, My stove is a gas stove.. SO with that said.. I guess I should just watch it, being as this could go bad pretty fast. Any ideas of any difference in time? I love your videos very very inspiring, Making my crafting a big change in ideas! THANK YOU!!
+Tom Jones Hello! Great question! I would recommend 20 minutes although I guess it would depend on what the lowest temperature setting of your stove is. YES! You would want to watch it VERY CAREFULLY! What I would suggest if you are concerned about the safety of using your stove would be to just let the thread sit for at least 24-48 hours. I have done this before and it seems to work out just fine. You can also use a hairdryer on the hot setting to speed up the drying process and help the curls set. I would use the hairdryer for about 3-5 minutes, wait an hour or so, and then dry them again. By leaving the thread to dry overnight and using a hairdryer to help the curls set faster you can easily avoid using a stove! Hope this helps! Happy crafting! :)
Hello Mam, I like to do this curly hair style for my doll. Insted of putting the thread in the oven, do u know any other method for curling. Pls tell me. Waiting for ur reply. Thank u.
When you say 200° do you mean celcius or farenheit? I naturally assumed C...but my hair burned quite quickly, I didn't think to even question this before hand, even though I thought that was quite a high temperature 🤦
Could you make like a green one with curly hair and a shell? Like, a turtle? It would be cool, but I totally understand if you can't..... Love the curly hair tho

Hi, would you be able to use thin wool in the same way to curl it or wouldn't it work as well 😊

Any ideas how to make different ethnicities? Struggling how to best dye the ball
Courtney G use wood stain, or just use any paint you have on hand and water it down then use a rag to put it on the wood bead.
What also works is watercolor or alcohol inks, or pastels.

Omg! Adorable
Thank you so much, that was great info on making curly hair. :-)
Can i use wooden dowels instead of shish kabobs to wrap embroidery floss around ?
What oven temp do I use for a UK electric oven for the curly hair style? TIA
Do you ever put anything on the hair to keep the curl in humid weather? Finding the curls we've created wear out. Starch perhaps? Help please.

Hello Mam, I like to do this curly hair style for my doll. Insted of putting the thread in the oven, do u know any other method for curling. Pls tell me. Waiting for ur reply. Thank u.
Great question! Instead of putting them in the oven, you can always let them sit out for at least 24+ hours. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.

Does this work on barbies

perdon no se mucho ingles .como puedo hacer pelo afro
you can also curl the hair by using boiling hot water easier
+Tee Ram What a great idea! Thank you for watching! xo
You are so welcome!!I love these dolls.I am trying this very soon.
Tee Ram i think the boiling water is not needed i think you could wrap the hair around straws and bobby pinning it in place and letting the hair dry
Emilie Lefler what about drying with an embossing/ heat gun? Darn I don’t have clothes pegs though.
