I know a lot of people think that stocking up is for dooms day prepping, however after going from a healthy 25 yr old mom of 3 to being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, it’s amazing to have a food supply to use during my treatments and not be scared of how we will feed our kids.
I try to tell people that and they just don’t get it. My husband and I were in a very serious accident and we couldn’t work for 2 years and we were on food stamps and an extremely below the poverty level income on disability and we would run out of food or come very close to it every month where I was having to be very creative. After we recovered I built a stockpile because you just never know what might happen in life.
@@desertfamilyhomestead3127 yep! We can’t even qualify for help even with me being off work for treatment for 6+ months
@@taylersangiorgio281 we only received $85/mo in food stamps and had an income of $754/mo for 3 people. But a family member was getting $600/mo and her husband worked full time plus she received wic for all 4 of her kids!! I am pretty sure they fudged something to get all that. It was tough but they were still handing out the government commodities which really helped but when they stopped them I had to figure out how to add butter, peanut butter, rice, beans, macaroni noodles, cheese and the canned goods. I hope and pray you are doing well and make a full recovery. I will add the last time I went in for recertification it was for $10/mo which I was going to turn down but it kept my son on state insurance for another 6 months and luckily I did it because his appendix ruptured.
bless your heart God bless! I hope all goes well with your recovery@@taylersangiorgio281
I channeled you this month and did something similar.
All totalled my grocery bill for january 2024 was $147.34🎉🎉
This single mama is so stoked and motivated to do even better in February!!!
Hello 👋 deannet 🌹... How are you doing today... How's everything going over there...🏵️🏵️🏵️...
Don't care how much or little you touch, liking and commenting for support! 1 of my favorite channels to clean the kitchen or cook with!
Same! But it’s awesome when she touches all the things 😂
Never had a good experience with Walmart delivery
Watching from Japan and drooling at the stores and stuff! Sigh! Yours is the one channel I watch without fail whatever you do.
Even the fitness ones. Luv ‘em!
I'm proud of myself - just spent 200 for the entire month of Feb, of course there are only 2 of us retired but not reclusive. We travel, hike, walk trails. (Ages 80 and 82). My 200 also included cat food and huge bags of bird seed. You and your husband are so cute - love it when he shows up. How about an update on your daughter.
I have always wondered what you guys do for snacking. I feel like I can stay on track with the budget for meals, but snacks kill us. I would love if you did a video about snack options.
Milk will stay fresher longer if you store it inside the fridge instead of in the door. ❤
Yes! It makes a big difference.
The door is actually the warmest part of the fridge.
That's irrelevant if you drink 3 gallons a week. 🤣 I've never had milk go bad or expire.
Love how much fun the two of you have... whether you're teasing each other a bit, not seeing eye to eye on something, etc. You two always beam of friendship, love and respect.
Hello 👋 Yvonne 🌹... How are you doing today... How's everything going over there...🏵️🏵️🏵️...
Looks like Dave needs to find another good deal on 100 lbs of bananas. 🤣
NOT THE BANANAS!!! 😂😂😂
Seriously need more bananas up in here. 🤣
@@FrugalFitMomThanks for including the number two scene from one of the best romcoms of the last thirty years! “The mashed potatoes are so creamy!” “No I like chubby blondes, lol”
You can't have banana bread without bananas. 👍@@FrugalFitDad

And she gets the big JAR from those jalapeno's to store dry goods in!! Getting a good jar with food is like extra savings for me.
I just got an amazing deal on a pork loin at Kroger today. I like to put it in the crock pot and shred it when it's done. Then I freeze it fin the appropriate portions and we pull it out of sandwiches, nachos, and to top salads or baked potatoes when we need a quick dinner or lunch.
That sounds great! How do you season it? I’m not good at pork.
I mix one teaspoon each salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and Mrs. Dash per pound of pork. Rub the pork with the spices, place in crockpot with a half of a cup of chicken stock and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. It is fall apart tender. We don't add barbecue sauce until we are ready to use it so we can control the level of sauce. And when I use it on salads, I mix barbecue sauce equally with ranch dressing.
@@kathypeterson9699 That's almost exactly how I do boneless chicken breasts when I find a good sale! We use the shredded chicken for chicken salad sandwiches, bbq chicken sandwiches, chicken caesar wraps, cheesy chicken enchiladas, yummmm 😊
I found beef roasts for 50% off. They’re typically $9.99 a pound and we’re on sale for $4.99 a pound. I bought two. That was at Fred Meyer which is Kroger. I went in for toothpaste, but I couldn’t pass up that sale. Beef is outrageous right now.
@@itsjustme.7059 for beef roast, we use one envelope of onion soup mix and 12 oz of Coke in the crock pot. It is so good!
Just a note on milk. Try to keep dairy inside the fridge instead of the doors. It won't go bad as quickly.
Yes and not on the bottom level. I ised to do that and the milk taste would change. Apparently the bottom is the warmest level.
Hello 👋 Stacey.. 🌹... How are you doing today... How's everything going over there...🏵️🏵️🏵️...
Oh yes, keep it at the back of the top shelf. You want that stuff to stay _~frosty.~_
Walmart has good prices on produce, but I refuse to buy it there. The quality at my grocery store is just SO much better!
I live in Alaska and our produce sucks at Walmart. I end up getting produce from Kroger or Costco.
Not in my area. Hispanic/ Latino markets have the best prices and freshest produce❣️❣️ The other nationalities are in our grocery stores for the nice prices ❣️
Love the 'tie' discard. 😂 My hubby is a tool and die maker and he reminds me that dull knives are the most dangerous. He keeps mine extremely sharp. All cutting is done on wood or plastic cutting boards in order to keep the edges sharp. 😉
The reason my cut was so bad is because the knife was SO sharp - I was close to cutting my finger off!
Favorite videos are the grocery hauls! I love bargains. I love meal plans. I love to see what people buy.
I did something very similar to my left hand the week I got engaged! I had to call my future mother-in-law to drive me to the doctor as I thought I might pass out if I tried to drive myself. My fiancé/now husband was at work when I did it. My own mother kept asking for pictures but I hadn’t had a chance to tell her about the engagement yet in person. I felt like such a liar having to remember to remove my ring when I sent my family pictures. I eventually couldn’t wear my engagement ring at all for a while because of the swelling. I was super bummed and still have a scar many years later. I hope you heal quickly!
I’ve been watching your videos for several years, usually with one or two of my daughters. I’ve never commented before but I’m here to say thankyou for all you’ve taught us and the positive attitude you bring. My precious lil baby 14 year old adores your humor and mimics you all the time. She said recently “I think I’m a lot like Christine.” I said “Yes you are!”😁👏🏻
Hello 👋 malinda😂 🌹... How are you doing today... How's everything going over there...🏵️🏵️🏵️...
We too are working through our freezers and pantry again for the next 2 months. Keep going.
I love learning new tips.
Will you be posting more videos of helping other people with their grocery budgeting? I like those🎉
Being from the UK the way you said Toe ma toes made me spit my coffee out it was sooo brilliant loved it very upper class 😂😂😂😂😂 got some great ideas thank you once again
We have a family of 9. I've gone from 1800 to 1400 thus far. Trying to get it down further! My husband has helped by reducing his impulse food buys. Like you Christine, it's hard for me to say "no" to a good deal! I've been working on it. Even though I have probably 50 packages of bacon in my freezer, I couldn't pass up the $1.00 marked bacon around 8 packages of it! We have a full beef in our freezer, so I do a good job of passing up any clearance beef. The struggle is real! I think maybe my kids just eat more than yours. Lol I would love to get my grocery bill down to at least a 1000 a month. I live in rural Kansas so driving an hour to shop Dillions(Kroger) deals can't always be done every week. I will go if the sales are worth the trip. Sam's is 90min away. I have a lot of Sam's items shipped to my house and try and stock up on the perishables when I go. My local grocery store is expensive. They do have some good sales and try and only buy stuff on sale minus milk. Milk is like 4.30 a gallon!
I mean, you have double the amount of kids than me, it makes sense that you would need to buy more food!
@@FrugalFitMom I know! When you were averaging 400 dollars last year, I figured I could get around 800. Hasn't happened. Also, KS has sales tax on food.☹️ That's going away next year thankfully!
Good job on your food costs. I did the pantry challenge and spent $60 for fresh produce and dairy. We are a retired couple and could probably go another 3 months with just those purchases.
1400
For
9 is a good budget
We started doing freezer use up differently. Every day, we use up any frig leftovers. Any in the freezer, we try to use when leftovers are gone from frig. That way food doesn't get old in freezer. We try not to overbuy do the frig freezer and freezer isn't packed. Leftovers go only in frig and frig feeezer.
I’ve been on the push to get through my pantry and freezer. I’m doing a great job with the freezer but the pantry still needs work. Did sort through and removed or ate the nearly out of date things. So satisfying to feel like I know what I have on hand. ❤
Oh girl, 5 stitches! Yikes!
I commented on your Costco haul and I’ll mention it here, too: that pack of Oikos is $4 off this month at Costco! What a deal!
Love the grocery hauls!
I didn't purchase any meat in January in an effort to clean out my deep freezer. It made a massive difference in our grocery budget. We didn't get far enough in cleaning it out so we are continuing through February.
The ties are hilarious! Also - you should totally mix up some jalapeño cheddar bread with your no-knead bread recipe - just add like 4-5 oz of diced block cheese and around 4-5 oz of drained jalapeños. Those are the exact jalapenos I use in my house. 😁
I love how excited Dave was that he got to keep the jalapeños, despite the tie cull.
Also, Dave, jalapeños go in salads, sandwiches, burgers, on top of lasagne, any mince dish, in tacos, and burritos. If it's savoury, you can add jalapeños to it 😊
Agree on the Walmart produce not being the best. My 2yr old loves picking out produce at our local grocery store. He'll spot something from across the section and point to it to try. This week was green bell peppers and Celery. Brocci is a solid fave. He holds it like a bouquet of flowers while we shop and tries to take little nibbles if I don't watch him.
I hope your finger heals quickly. Thank you for all your helpful tips.
I love how down to earth you are! Love watching your videos 😊
I am such a salmon snob😂. We lived in western WA for 18 years. We bought our seafood from the docks or Pike Place Market... sooo, good.
We moved to the midwest. I can't buy it. I just can't buy that weak fish. Loved our trip to Alaska a couple of years ago and got our salmon and reindeer fixes.
Yup on the snow but significantly lower than normal for Quebec. For January we were paying attention to reducing pantry items, fridge 'opened' jars and freezer stuff; we're on a roll so will be continuing for February & March. Prices on fresh produce are not great so sticking with seasonal stuff only.
Some recipes coming up are pot roast, chow mein, sausage & tortellini soup with frozen spinach, kale & leek crust less quiche, baked oatmeal & frozen blueberries
Can you make a video that shows what your family is eating for breakfast/lunches/snacks during this time? That is what kills our grocery bill. Thanks and I love your videos btw.
Dave’s face at 16:40 and again at 16:57 😂😂 Bro has a lot of ties!!
You and Dave are the cutest! I love how much fun you have together! 😂
I have missed these videos!
It’s just two of us at home…it is going to take forever to clean out my freezers…but we persist!
Love these videos!!!
I’m also kinda doing a clean out. I have so much stuff preserved that I need to start using it before the next harvest season BUT I also need to clean out the pantries and freezer as well. Have started making a dent in ONE of the pantries but I seriously could skip the store with the exception of fresh produce and dairy. I, however, am like you in the fact that I can’t pass up a great clearance and/or the loss leader items. Not spending much but still bringing stuff into the pantry, 🤷🏼♀️. House paid off - check. Car paid off - check. Credit cards sooo close to being paid off. Retirement in 5 years and I really, really want a acre of land to leave the rat race, 😉. Goals! And thank you for helping me get there! Love to everyone around the world. 😘
Make sure your father in law keeps fishing. Wow! The money you saved and the delicious meals you ate. That's a blessing.
I've got to do a freezer clean out. You've inspired me. Thanks
Me too!
The amount of water needed to grow almonds in California seems staggering and then turn around and soak them to get flavored water "milk".
Yep it isn’t an environmental friendly item
I have tried to watch most of your videos and a few of Dave’s too! I know if l haven’t seen your tshirt yetthen it’s a new video! 😂😂😂😂 love your channel it validates my lifestyle while helping me fine tune my skills! ❤
So excited to hear more about how your getting the xtra proteins in!❤❤❤
I love that light camo sweatshirt! Wish I could find one like it! I did a freezer/pantry cleanout last November. Make tons of room for a quarter of beef we will get this spring.
I'm cooking down my pantry and freezer too! Barely have made a dent as well, Christine! I've started inviting my grown son home to supper to help us eat through all this food!❤
Looooove the 1 month grocery hauls
I cut my finger similar to yours (not as bad as yours) and I just put a rubber glove on (the thin kind) when I'm prepping or cooking food or cleaning up after dinner. Love your videos and love seeing your frugal ideas about food shopping. Thanks for posting those.
you are awesome and live in Maine so yes we had no snow for Christmas so now we had a shit ton of snow and ice ty
The tie convo was THE best 😂
Love watching your videos, Christine. So many great ideas. BTW you and your husband are so fun together. ❤❤😂Thank you!
This is a good inspiration for me to do in our house. I’ve been saying for a gazilion times to use what’s in the freezer but failed big time! 😂😂😂 The sales in the store is so tempting especially going to Costco when they have $5 off of their meat when the price a lb is already cheap. Good luck to all of us! Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
We are having the same experience with using our freezers and pantry through January and almost halfway through February. Still so much food!
Yay!!!! Grocery hauls!!! Touch all of the things!!
I love when she touches all the things, too!

Hello 👋 Lynda 🌹... How are you doing today... How's everything going over there...🏵️🏵️🏵️...
Loved the end portion 😂 good job decluttering Dave , and the support from Christine!
Milk tip ! NEVER ever put your milk on the side door. Also make sure your milk is the furthest back in the fridge. It lasts sooooo much longer! I learned that the hard way. I spent $80 for 2 of us in January. Like you we had plenty in the house and I am going to do this thru February and maybe the first 2 weeks of March (we have company after that so will have to buy more).
We had left over porkloin and some sliced ham...so we did Cuban sandwiches
Yum!

50 degrees today and barely any snow right now. Here in eau claire Wisconsin
I've been making a simple chicken salad. Mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, can chicken, and pickled Jalapeño. It's so easy and tasty.
Also put it in eggs, tuna salad, on salads, all Mexican food - I think I'm like ur husband. I really need the Jalapeños.

SLC UT here. Our snow has melted due to warmer temps/rain.
great video(like always) ! no snow here or while I was visiting my adult children in NC. Which was good because we had a lot of time for hiking and biking . At home -We have had a lot of wind so there is a-lot of sand everywhere. My pantry is looking a little bare now , I am planning my restock for this weekend . So that means I will be rewatching all of your videos for tips!!! Thank you for …… everything!!!!
Fun video! Thank you.
Love this idea of using up freezer and pantry items ❤ You are my favorite channel and you look amazing 😊 The ties are hilarious 😂

Oh no! Your poor finger
Thank you! 😊
I have cut proof gloves for the kitchen. A nerve disorder made them a must have safety item. I am glad to have them. A few cut/grated/sliced fingers made it clear to avoid the problem.

I live in SoCal. I used to be able to get the avocados for $6. For months now they are $9. So we are not eating avocados as much. For milk we don’t drink it so I just use it for cooking and the very occasional bowl of cereal. I get the ultra pasteurized Kroger milk. Last week Von’s had eggs with digital coupon for $1.97 a dozen. They were out when I got there but they give rain checks. My husband has a ton of ties also. Unlike your husband he no longer wears them to work. He is a choir director/teacher and has so many music ties from when he did dress up M-Th. He is attached to all of them, some have never been worn.
I have an errand but I have this on SAVE because I can't wait to watch! I'm really trying to dive into my food budget this year and I love your ideas! I'm vegan, husband is not and I try to cook from scratch mostly so you would think my food budget is trimmed but it can use an overhaul!
Thanks for your videos💚
I'm trying not cut any more of my finger tips. Like I have from opening tin cans and once cutting off a price tag with scissors. I am grateful for Christopher's Tissue and Bone massage oil (brought it from iherb😉)it truly speed up the healing process💗 It's so hard when we can't use are fingers especially in the kitchen. I hope the healing of your finger is going quickly for you Christine 💛
These videos are my favorite!!!!
Mary mashed them!! . Lol. While you were sleeping is a fav movie!
Love your personality 😊
Thank you for being will to share about speaking with a therapist. My mom has been struggling with trying fine one because of being out of state. Thankful for the resource, and looking for with her today.😊❤
We have been eating meat from the freezer since November, only been buying when super cheap, I’m talking $1.19 lb. Pork loin and 78 cents a lb. Chicken legs and thighs. Our freezer is still mostly full! We spent more than $200 a month but we’re able to cut $300 from the budget this month!
Why do you need to eat so much protein per day? There is more data out there showing that as Americans we eat too much protein per day. Also, there’s no conclusive research about what is the minimum or maximum amount of protein a person should have. But there are studies that show people who eat less animal protein and less protein daily live longer.
Love your videos!! Besides the awesome (entertaining) content, they are the PERFECT time frame for me to both wash a load of dishes (hand washing sucks!) and fold a load of laundry. Yay for multitasking!!!!
The end made me laugh, “I got to keep the jalapeños.”
Good work!
So inspiring! 🤍 hello from Dubai 🇦🇪
Great job for January. Hope your finger heals quickly. I’ve been there 🤦♀️. I’d ❤ to hit my hubby tie stash since he hasn’t worn one for like 10 yrs he has probably 20😂. I’m so jealous over the salmon
Snow here in Maine, but not as much as in past Januaries. Another good way to use up stuff in cold weather - SOUP! Bravo on your total for the month. I can’t find anywhere near the quantity of clearance items, but I’m working on bringing my monthly food budget down. Let’s go, February!

Laughing cow spread on a bagel sounds wonderful.
As the yellow ties were being discarded (and one purple one), I could feel the hurt in Dave’s heart. 💔
Yes, we have snow but we haven't been as cold as you. I tried to keep our grocery budget for a family of 5 adults to $300 for January. I did go over by $17.00, so that's still a win in my book. We did eat out of our freezer though and I was able to get it defrosted. Love your video and hope your finger is okay, ouch!
That’s incredible! Good job!
That’s very cheap! Wow
😂 You guys are a riot!! Love your channel Christine!
I use laughing cow for grits… amazing btw
Christine you were saying how your milk goes bad, and I seen you keep it on the door of your refrigerator that is the problem, because I used to do the same thing. I heard that the temperature of constantly opening the door is what makes it go bad so I stopped doing that

There is a dairy farm near me so I buy milk dairy from there. Also, my neighbor has chickens so I get eggs from them.
That is sweet!!!!
I feel the cut finger, i sliced my knuckle up really good shredding cheese ACK. I have found Wild Alaskan Company for my salmon !! It comes dry ice packed to illinois. Love it!!
Love these videos, encourages me to eat what i have and not waste food.

My BIL owns a commercial salmon fishing boat in AK and last summer my 19 yr old son went to fish with him for a few weeks...the salmon and halibut he brought home was absolutely AMAZING!!! Nothing like it!!
Love the tie bet! Winner winner chicken dinner!
Ughhhhhhh I wish I found you sooner! I’m not a big spender but I am not great at finding meat deals! Thanks for all the tips 😊
