Links to the msstyles would be nice for people trying to theme ReactOS theirselves. I'm as surprised as you are with the themeing support of ReactOS, I've personally only tried Watercolor, Luna and Vista/SevenVG themes on it.
I'd be surprised and disappointed if the theme engine required patching and wasn't made free and unrestricted from the start. Classic theme is still the most practical and readable, and allows authors to pick color combinations that match it.
I hope react os works in the end. Once you can start instaling those expensive programs that do not work on linux, like solidworks or other industrial apps and also having the drivers fully working then windows will completely die
Just remember they have an extremely small development team and very low budget. Priority #1 for them now should be moving away from the Windows XP kernel and to try to imitate 7 or 10 to get more modern programs.
"like solidworks or other industrial apps" I also thought about this. I do believe people within ReactOS will know what's the best way to get there. I hope these people also have the objective in mind to run major CAD software and other industrial applications.
Windows won't die because corporate and industrial users still want an OS by a developer who gives them tech support. They don't really care about paying for licenses, it's just a cost of doing business to them and a couple hundred bucks per license is a relatively small expense.
@@binguslover0508 you have to prove that. Plus code that does the same doesnt mean its the same code. There are only so many ways to do the same thing. Hey nice video. I tried React but it would not connect to the internet i have no clue why. Could i get help from you since you seem to know what your doing
The OS is so people can run old windows programs without windows and nothing more. The time you spend playing with this is pure entertainment as you can get windows 10 free and it works great or use a Developed Linux with wine to do the same thing.
I tried the download a few days ago, and the install failed - when booting up the test drive, it reported a failure in the 'hive' creation. Their website seems to say that bug was fixed some time ago, but for me, it is still there. I will give it a try again later when a newer beta is released. Also, it would only format the drive in FAT, not NTFS (I used a 100Gb SSD).
The themes shown in this video are not available online at the moment. Is there any place where I could try out these themes now? I wouldn't mind a download of the themes from someone who tried these and kept an archival copy. Thanks, I'd like to test them inside ReactOS!
I doubt this will ever become a release version. It was a nice idea, back in 1996, but way past time to really be useful anymore. 24 years and it's still Alpha. 😐
Yes does look and feel much like XP, but cannot run older 8-bit program (one that you could fit the entire program on a 3.5 floppy) like I could do on XP.
ReactOS is intended to be an open-source NT clone, not a 9x clone. XP only had backward-compatibility because it included NTVDM (NT Virtual DOS Machine), a DOS 'emulator' of sorts. The ReactOS dev team hasn't gotten around to recreating that yet.
I tried it and it installed but video and sound drivers were an issue, i don't have the drivers for the pc i was using, hoping it will soon auto detect drivers like Linux one day, but this operating system is still a long way off.
ReactOS is still a long way off from being a viable Windows replacement, but the main advantage over Windows is that it's all open source and free and you don't have to worry about selling your soul to Microsoft.
I really hope to see ReactOs someday pick up where Windows 7 left us and never goes to windows 8 or 10 way. Even if it takes them another 20 years.

I think you need to check Windows Plus! themes also :)
Maxim Pershin it would be cool
Try Windows 98 Plus! themes and the Zune XP (Luna in black) theme too.
zune XP = my favorite.
the glossy blue luna is also nice (it came with media center edition AFAIK)
Zune XP is my favourite too! If I setup an XP, I copy that theme with the first things and I apply it! :)
The theme that came with Media Center Edition was called "Royale".
Come on ReactOS! I want to try the ReactOS 1.0 with NTFS install! :D
Well they are getting to beta, so we have hope
I wait for 0.5 Beta(beta should be fully functional but bugs would exist obviously, NTFS support would be already supported)
The NTFS install is not supported, only the FAT.
As soon as that thing hits stable, I'm getting that ReactOS.
BTRFS boot would be implemented soon %)
In the WaterColour theme the start button icon changed to the Windows flag...
Perhaps you need to switch from the Classic theme to access the other start menu?
If I remember correctly from my ReactOS test, in the ReactOS “store” you can find the watercolor theme

And find UI bugs easier
The patching is required for windows just to allow unsigned themes, ReactOS probably just allows them if it doesn't need the patch.
Interesting that this came out the day after Explaining Computers did a video on React OS.
simtitan1 I'm sure some of these channels are subscribed to each other otherwise there would not be such short gaps between different ReactOS video.
The first theme you tried out worked with the classic Windows start button. :)))

Kinda funny, beacuse in the most recent build of ReactOS Watercolor themes are in the Applications Manager and you can freely download them.
