Same when his son went into drug and alcohol counseling and asked his father to do the same - again said he did not need to. Finally, in the year before he died, he did go to some form of AA and both his children were there. Unfortunately it was too late - Desi was diagnosed with cancer and would be dead within a year or so.
Also, Lucy continued with counseling even after Desi went only once. Also, continued seeking support and advice from Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, who also married her and Gary.
