    I really love Lucy, I really really love Desi! They were meant for each other.

    I believe Gary and Edith were more best friends of Lucy and Desi, than lovers. They knew how much Lucy and Desi cared about each other. I know Desi loved Lucy and in the end he just wanted her to be happy no matter who she was with.

      @@anthonyvarricchio1404 I liked Gary because Lucy always seemed relaxed and comfortable with him. He supported and cared for her - and as she first said to Carol Burnett when she introduced them, "He makes me laugh". Their marriage lasted 28 years and there was never a time when negative publicity came out about them.
      Their kids Lucie Arnaz and Desi Jr liked their step-father, Gary Morton. He did not try to take them over or interfere with their relationship with their father. Lucie Arnaz said when they first married their father was devastated, but then a few years later he remarried Edie Hirsch, who they also liked a lot.
      Lucie said her father used to joke about his name calling him Barry Norton. But they ended up playing golf together. For at least 15 years after they divorced - Desi sent flowers to Lucy on their anniversary. When asked what Gary thought about that - he said he didn't care.

      @@LJ-ht4zs Meh. Her marriage to Gary was dull and she settled for him cause her mother and some friends encouraged her to remarry asap. He was a stooge. There was a time that he wanted to leave the marriage. Lucy’s kids were never his biggest fan, they’re too classy to say anything negative. Desi, Vivian and others knew he was an opportunist but kept their distaste for themselves for the most part. Lucy grew bitter as she got older and totally dove into work after her divorce from Desi.

      Actually, I really liked The Lucy Show - which won two Emmy awards - 1967 & 1968.
      Lucy was starring in and producing that show, as well as being the Head of Desilu Studios. When she first took it over it, it was losing money - she sold it - for 17million dollars from Paramount. She was a genius herself, starring in and producing a show as well as running Desilu Studios taking into the black, as well as raising two children.

    It turned out that upon accepting Morton's proposal, Lucy insisted on introducing him to Desi because she felt as though he still played a major part in her life not to be consulted. For Desi's part, he wasn't quite happy seeing Lucy with another man or take on the role being a stepfather to their kids Lucie and Desi Jr., however, he didn't wanted to stand in the way of Lucy being happy. Not surprisingly, when Desi wed Edith McSkiming Hirsch, by the bride's request , Lucy wasn't invited to the wedding. But according to the fact neither Desi or Lucy haven't quite adjusted through being divorce because that it would had turned out being some form of episode taken from the "I Love Lucy". It really didn't seem right for Desi to attend Lucy and Morton's ceremony especially since it marked eleven days prior to what would have been the twenty-first anniversary of the Arnaz nuptials. Meanwhile, Morton and Edie became known being just as props through the scenarios of Desi and Lucy regretting to say goodbye to each other emotionally.

      do you know even after Divorce , Lucy almost went back to Desi, even , the day after she signed divorce papers she also went to Bed with Desi, sorry but Gary and Edie never stood a chance, Edie had to put up with Desi's drinking and Womanising, but i think she just was able to kinda put up with it, how i will never, know, she was also a Lucy look alike,

    • @LJ-ht4zs
      @LJ-ht4zs 9 місяців тому

      I don 't think they were just "props." The Desi Lucy marriage was over and done before their actual divorce and they were sad, angry and disappointed in the collapse of their marriage - but it was OVER. Only after they divorced they became more relaxed and could resume a warm friendship with each other.

    • @usforsarah
      @usforsarah 5 місяців тому

      Not entirely true. It was Lucy’s choice to not attend Desi and Edie’s wedding ceremony.

    The reason for the divorce was complex, but it's not because they "fell out of love". There were a lot of reasons that built up over the 20 year marriage. I suggest you watch the documentary "Lucy & Desi: A Home Movie" and read Lucy and Desi's autobiographies. =)

    I think you are right. It can be compared to the marriage between Ingmar Bergman and pianist Käbi Laretei. (whom I know.) They divorced (and he married another) but remained friends. (and she was with him his last days.) Käbi (87 and very fit) has just published a book about their marriage, "Where did all that love go?" Its contains some of their correspondence. Ingmar was very romantic! (some love letters. Ooooh.) It will probably be translated into English!

      I think the same for Desi, he was continually in her life, they talked at least once a week on the phone, either about their children or about projects Lucy was involved in - she always trusted Desi's advice. When his wife died and he was in mourning, Lucy suggested he stay in the guest wing of her house - concerned about his being alone.
      He did not do it, but it shows the deep caring they had for one another.
      I read somewhere that Edith was jealous of their relationship; never read the same was true of Gary - I think he just accepted - it was what it was.

    • @usforsarah
      @usforsarah 5 місяців тому

      @@LJ-ht4zsAre you related to Gary or something? You seem very bias. Yeah, he was jealous but never made any drama because he was content living the lavish life that came with being with Lucy. He put up with it all cause of the $. She would make him put home videos of her and Desi and the kids. It’s also known that at Lucie’s wedding, he intervened and didn’t let Desi and Lucy dance the parents of the bride dance together.
