@@JennJackson towards the middle of the video you mentioned that you use a sealant cream or leave in conditioner. What do you recommend, and is it necessary to use a leave in conditioner at all?
You look absolutely gorgeous with the headwrap. There are some conditioners that do have mild cleansers but I do get what you are trying to say. I am looking forward to the challenge
I have tried them to. The "cleansing conditioners" are so mild that I still have to wash. They condition more than cleanse. Can't wait for the challenge to start! x
Great vid! Now I’m a 6 year natural and it took me all this freakin time to realize how important cowashing can be for our hair and how easy it actually is, especially now with WFH. My new stylist also preached to me about cowashing not too long ago, so this video came at the perfect time! Plus it helps with getting rid of all the conditioners I’m not super fond of lol since apparently I’m a hoarder!
Co-washes are not designed to clean your hair like a shampoo would. But there are some that do have surfactants and will cleanse your hair. We just have to keep in mind not to compare them to actual shampoo. I wouldn't rely solely on a co-wash, but to use them periodically, I feel like they get the hair clean.
Antoinette I agree, co-washing is not meant to replace your shampoo but if my hair is short dry by midweek instead of remoisturizing I will co-wash. There are co-washes that contain surfactants or some form of cleansing agent that will clean your scalp and hair to some degree
Don't co-wash because I didn't understand the purpose of it. Thank you for explaining it in a way for me to understand. I may try this method for re- moisturization.
Thanks for explaining. I didn't understand if I should prepoo, put it on my scalp, and/or follow up with a deep conditioner because the word cowash was confusing. My cowash works great when I need to make sure to rinse out my ayurvedic mask and when I use a shampoo that is too stripping and I needto add some moisture back to my hair so it doesn't tangle up. I might try it your way especially during the winter.
I'm 6 months into transitioning from a Relaxer. Co-washing has confused me since I started my journey. Thanks so, so, so much for the clarification. Once again, excellent content.
Hey could u do a video on how to take care of ur hair during the week if I have a protective style in? Especially one that’s supposed to last 4 weeks +? Like how do u maintain the style while actually giving ur hair moisture and not letting it dry up, keeping it relatively clean and preventing it from accumulating dandruff? Like when I had a protective style (it was in braids) that lasted 3 months, before I knew much about my hair I’d let it sit for the whole 3 months and not TOUCH a single thing. My hair was in an awful state In the end. I’d really appreciate a video on this topic. Thanks
Thank You for this video🙏🏽 Because my Hair is extremely dry. No matter what I do, it’s still so dry. And I didn’t know how to manage it, untill the point I want to relax my Hair again😳 Because It’s making me a little bit crazy! So Will try this😌. I’m at the beginning of my natural hair, started this year. So I’m really an amature😅. And like you said it takes time to manage and find the right way for dry natural hair. Thank you again💋💖
I honestly always thought that co-washing was washing but like faster or sthg and never took the time to learn more about it. I’m glad I did today. Great video.
I comb and braid/re-braid/bontu knot my hair in the shower between wash day just with water and oil/ Vaseline. I don’t like too much product(s) in my hair. I had to get myself a bath chair for comfort. I don’t comb my hair outside the shower anymore. Now, I know I was co-washing all along. Thanks.
I actually enjoy co-wash every day lately 😂, but I shampoo once a week. my boyfriend put water in his hair every day and it grows so well and healthy so he challenged me to do same but I decided to use not knly water but conditioner then a styling cream 😂 I guess it's a wash and go every day, been doing it for 1 week I think I can get used to this😂🤣. I have 4c hair, medium density fine hair. Length is 6 to 8 inches I checked before the challenge which is for one month😂.
Hi gal.. today i have officially stalked you the whole day... i need to grow my 4c hair.. it aint that short but i need to just do it. I know protective style is coming up.. so tell me kindly how to link if on fb... i need to just join for those 6 months.. but will also add my own twist based on what i have learnt about my hair in the past year or so. I will also be learning how to do my own hair. Lol. Hope i can finish... its really tiresome.... anyway.. your my 100% inspiration... lots of love
I honestly have never done this before. I usually mist my hair with distilled water, squeeze it into my hair, and add either an oil or raw shea butter. This is usually enough for me. I may try this one day.
@@JennJackson I'm glad u did a video on this, cuz it made me think of the time I used to cowash every other day. Think I should go back to that anywayysssss..... Thanks for the video gurrlll LOVEDDD IT!!!!😍🙌🏽
Question. Since CO-washing is just adding moisture back to your hair by using a conditioner, do people just deep condition their hair as well without using a shampoo?
Truth be told, you don't actually NEED to cowash. You should be washing weekly and IF you need to refresh midweek (due to working out for example), then you can cowash. It doesn't replace your regular shampoo though.
Jenn Jackson Have you ever tried the Curlmix hair products? I think you would enjoy it. I messed you on Instagram once and you responded. I could send you pictures of my hair the first week of using it if you like. 😊 I took Day 1 and Day 5 pictures. My Wash and Go has been changed because of this product line focused on curls and coils first for all women. Let me know. This will also element co-washing for your wash and go with this product. Here is the website if you want to look and research further CurlMix.com I never really got into co-washing. Take care girl. If this pandemic wasn't happening I might need to plan a trip to Canada to hang with you because you seem like fun to hang around. 😁💖
I like the name re-condition instead of co-wash, because that is really what we are doing, Re-conditioning our hair.
Yassssss!!!! I love this one! Sis you need to trademark this ASAP
Yes, I love that too👌🏾❤️
Me too 🤣

You are correct. Conditioner washing can clean the hair but does not strip the hair like shampoo does.

Hydromoist therapy 😂. Great video. Very informative love the makeup ❤️
Love the vid and is wash day another name for deep conditoning
Wait you don’t put conditioner on your scalp 🏃🏽♀️ IVE BEEN DOING THAT THIS WHOLE TIME

Haha she said "if you're not acting a fool in the shower. I don't know what you're doing". Lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Thank you Jen! I did it in a wrong way and the results was terrible

Please if I may ask can I use black soap to co wash? Please reply me
I have my first co wash and I was scared because I thought cowash was bad BUT YESS I tried it an omm
Question. Since CO-washing is just adding moisture back to your hair by using a conditioner, do people just deep condition their hair as well without using a shampoo?
No. Just style after.
so i have a question which may seem dumb but... i’m guessing you only have one conditioner which you use for both the cowash and your normal wash day?
How about calling it... full on moisturizing ?..
Wow I’ve never been this early before 😂💕😂
Ayyeeeee!
Yeah me too😂
Can I cowash only using Cantu Curl Activator?
What about products that are labeled specifically, as a cowash?? Are they the same as conditioners or no??
Cleansing conditioners never really clean my scalp, personally but you can definitely try them x
You mean like the as I Am cowashes? I love it and it cleans my scalp and hair well. It’s not a conditioner, it’s a cleanser.
Where did you get the 4C puff from ?
Okay okay you in the bath sist! 🤣🙌🏽
LOL x

so just for clarification, are you referring to washing with deep conditioner or using a commercial product labeled "cowash" or both?
I am referring to conditioners. x
By the way...yoire accent...where are you from?
I am Haitian x
can i use a regular shampoo then co wash ?
Truth be told, you don't actually NEED to cowash. You should be washing weekly and IF you need to refresh midweek (due to working out for example), then you can cowash. It doesn't replace your regular shampoo though.
