I’m a general contractor, and you did a great job with this project for not being a tradesman! Something that you’ll love to upgrade to is the T-25 deckmate exterior deck screws. I use them for everything framing- they are much easier to use and stronger than the Philips bit deck screws. And you’d also love GRK self drilling lag bolts. Extremely strong and you don’t have to pridrill and you can sink them with your impact. Also, as it’s been stated, Milwaukee has the best service department- if you bought the tools within 5 years, you can go online and print a prepaid shipping label and ship it to them and they’ll either fix the tool or replace is for free. It’s great.
Hey Matt! For your rope, put a pulley directly above the dock attached to the tree and a smaller rope the connects to the upper portion of the rope. Then you just pull that to get the rope over. It’s up higher so that it doesn’t get in the way while swinging and you won’t need all that slack hanging off the rope anymore.
"I'm going to be young and strong forever I'm never getting old" as some of us have watched Matt's hair turn grey and have enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you guys.
You are correct, you only get older, one day at a time, but NEVER old! I am 65 and still enjoy playing with my adult children and even better, my grandchildren! Thanks for the vlog! I enjoyed it!
You know I miss the positive encouragement parts of the videos. I love that your enthusiasm help me and maybe other to have a great day. Thanks for that.
I was thinking the same thing a few videos ago, I miss him saying "do something today that will make you better tomorrow than you were yesterday". It's not that it took a guy on YT to get me to be motivated/productive/etc., but it definitely has the power to influence you towards that direction.
yea this is a great idea. Also I'm not sure if that step shouldn't be a bit lower, because the swing rope is dropping at nearly 45 degrees at that angle, a kid swinging from the higher step might clip it
Ah the life of a UA-camr. While the kids are at school and the wife is at work they get to go out and "Make the rope swing safer" and go swimming. I am just giving you are hard time. You are living a blessed life and enjoying it. I love all your content.
Love what your doing for your family. This world needs more dads like you! Keep it up, I worked all the time to try and give my children a good life and missed out on some things. I wish I would have spent more time enjoying them when they were young, like you are.
Matt, you are such a thoughtful and caring father, also, of others. Such a good friend. Guess it comes natural after being raised by the wonderful man your dad is.
"Do one thing today, that makes tomorrow better than yesterday" - Matt Carriker... My favorite quote in the world.. this video reminded me of when you used to say that all the time.
Paint the front edge of both levels of the deck with a bright yellow paint. You made it safer to fall off of, but also unintentionally created a small tripping hazard. Looks great!
This is the mat that I miss not the one talking about cars non-stop but the one that teaches your family values and spends time with his family. This is the entire reason I started watching off the ranch all those years ago.
Matt, "worst case scenario" is a dozen or so kids overload the deck and the whole thing collapses because it's being held up by a pair of 2x6's on shaky ground on the stair side.
Rope netting is the best safety stuff ever invented and fun for the kids to play on. Perhaps you could wrap some around if you're worried about little tikes up there. Great video!
Man I’m with ya. I absolutely hate time. It’s evil and cares about nothing. Seems like the older my kids get, the faster time flies. I’m so guilty of taking time for granted. What you said about building the deck really resonated with me…I’ve never really looked at things like that. I will from now on though. Thanks Matt. Y’all rock!
Nothing like drinking your morning coffee, sitting outside, and watching the beautiful Montana sunrise! While also watching a wonderful video to start the day❤️

I grew up jumping into creeks. The safety concern that I have is underwater debris. Limbs and branches can float into your landing area. Yes, I know that I am a Safety Sally-but that is how I got to be 72 with minimal scarring. Well, there was this one time I rolled a '68 Nova-but it was not all my fault.
The morale of the story is: Cherish the time you have with your children because pretty soon they're going to be adults. (Still fun, just not as little ❤️) You're awesome Matt. You keep living the good life brother 👍
You’re a good man Mr. Matt. I too enjoy building things my family gets to enjoy. Nothing quite compares to sweating and sacrificing to bring joy to someone you love. Build on and build well brother. 👍🏻
You must not be near a river. Great setup and all etc but that river is almost too narrow to be called a river. Perhaps a stream. And green looking looks unhealthy.
I agree, it feels good building stuff like tree houses or platforms for a lake for the kids. Because later, when they're out there playing on them. You can sit back and just watch them build memories. And you know, you had a big part in that. Every laugh, smile and bump is apart of you now. And as they grow older. Apart of you is still there with them.
Milwaukee has a 5 year warranty, you can do a claim online it takes a few minutes. Also Matt remember that you're going to be a grandpa one day, and the best thing about being a grandpa is that it's a second chance to do everything you forgot to do with your own kids.
HaHaHa 😊. Perfect comment! I’m thinking his list with the Grands is going to be much smaller than the “I wish I had done. . . (List) I’m currently executing with my two Grandsons and one Granddaughter right now.
Matt, good episode...I enjoyed the truck talk. I can tell you get in your feels a lot lately with the kids growing up..I'm the same way..life flies by.

We always used a ski rope with a handle or just tied a big stick on the rope so the kids has a good handle to hold on to plus you don't have to worry about the rope getting wrapped around your legs when swinging
All I could think is how lucky your kids are to have a dad who likes to make fun things for his kids. I often think about how Mark would be by your side helping you out with these crazy but fun ideas!!
I've been watching the river property videos and I have to say the Mrs. has a lot of patience. Matt spent 3.5 years building that beautiful house and now, he's been talking about camping at the river. Meredith deserves an award. Matt is great with his construction skills though. I've known men who don't even own a drill and it's not attractive if I can do more things around the house than they can.
You are such a great dad! Always thinking of the kiddos first. They are lucky! I got my 2 shirts today I ordered from Linc Active. Mere might want to put down that the clothes run small. I am only about 125 lbs, not a big girl at all, but something told me to order the 2 shirts in a much larger size, I ordered a 2X in both and i normally only wear a med. And they fit perfect. Everything you did looks awesome. I have 3.5 kids and loved your safety. Once you went underneath the platform. There should be room for you to build a shade deck underneath. Will provide jumpers on top deck to chill out underneath with a deck of sorts. Throw some Indian (dot not feather) pillows for comfort of the Texas heat and humidity. Provides you and ya wife with shade while you watch your children. You did so much work, make it even better. You a cool cat 🐈 Matt, also would give you another stream for you while providing a safe and shaded spot for the kids who are jumping. Much love bruh... from southern Oregon 🤜🤛🤙✌️🤐🤐

Matt, be mindful of how long the "tail" is on that rope. It will whip around a tangle a person up as they swing back. Especially with adults. I climb trees for a living and have installed many rope swings. I have already made this mistake. Love the spot brother. Demolitia 4 life! (That should be a shirt)
This looks fun. Matt jump on McMaster Carr and find you some high density foam to edge that out. Remove all hard edges and prevent any cranium crash concerns.

Yep, Matt needs to continue and actually build an epic treehouse there
Hey👋

With a BBQ PIT and shade top
It is wierd, all those tools and he doesn't bring them.
By the way, the reply from "Matt" is a scam.
Right, he needs to call Pete Nelson and have one built
Yep go on up the tree with a secret house for the preteens, rope ladder maybe with a secret way to drop it down.

Now you need a slide that ramps into the water
To the left over the tree branch. It looks like a direct hit.
A spiral slide that starts at the top of the tree.
Climbing net, take it out about 4 feet
A slide into the water would be epic. Have a small pump to put a little water on it and it will be better than the water park
Put the slide over the roots. Win both ways.

It’s funny how Matt got all the power tools a person could ever need but yet he puts the lag bolts in with the ratchet😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Considering they make 1/4” 3/8” and 1/2” bits too. I guess he doesn’t have everything in life lol
I was thinking the same thing. And the adapters are so cheap too.
lmao
I have all the tools in the world and still find myself using a standard ratchet and halfway through remember what I have lol
