Feel sorry for the younger generation? We need them to teach us how to use technology like the TV remote control.
The downside of the young ones is that they want to get control of our wealth then put us in old peoples homes in a tiny room with smelly mattresses & kerosene baths.
I do hope they let me keep my pre-war Martin D28. Don't want to go into eternity playing a crappy buzzbox with rusty strings.

Don't you hate that? I live in a senior housing apartment house. Not assisted living, I'm on my own. The manager of the place treats all of us the same, which is like we are all 100 years old and have lost our ability to know anything. If I ask a simple question about something in the building I get an hour long (seems like) lecture on how things work and why they work that way like I have gone through the last 76 years with my eyes closed. Nothing makes me angrier than to be talked down too and treated like I'm completely helpless. The worse thing is that this person is in her early 40's. I forgot more about most things than she will ever know. Rant over.

68 here, carpenter for 42 years, arthritis here and there, getting a new knee in a month. The divisions in our country are terrible etc blah blah blah. Pain is a constant etc. But still….life is good. I celebrate each dawn and have learned to live without pictures of the way I think things ought to be, but live viewing the world as is. I’ve learned to be optimistic even while entering old age. Imagine that! It’s all so short, why be miserable and angry? Like Ann Frank said, “Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.”

No children, no dog, no wife, just a little cash and a great golf swing, developed AFTER I had cancer. In 1992 I traveled quite extensively and played on 25 different wonderful golf course that year. The next year I experienced my 2nd grand mal seizure and it tore my left shoulder, again, out of the socket and I couldn't play anymore. This past winter I gave my golf clubs away to Deseret Industries and I hope some individual can enjoy these clubs as much as I did. I now enjoy many of the small things in life.

All I can say about this wonderful video and song. The lyrics are so true. I'm 64 now, and I think it really hit me 4 years ago when I hit 60! I got out of my bed slower, hurting more than the day before.
I walked to the bathroom to wash my face and shave. I looked into the mirror and really looked at myself. I saw an old man with a grey beard and hair and wrinkles on my forehead and around my eyes. And I said to myself my God!
I'M OLD! And I realized then that I had more years behind me than in front of me. You don't want to think about it. But the average American male life is only 74 years. Wow!
God has really blessed me through the years. And I don't mean money or material things. But just life! So many times, I should not have made it. And in my younger wilder years, I lived for myself! Now I try to live for the one that gave me so many chances. My Lord God and Savior.
Thanks so much for this video.
It nailed old age on the head!❤❤

Could barely paddle it... my neck hurt so much! Sold it 2 weeks later. Rode a few motorcycles when I was a young man..... so I bought a brand new Indian Scout Bobber last week! I’m 68 myself. I agree with a lot of what you say. Although I can’t say I’m blessed with a wonderful family. The biggest problem with getting old from my perspective is having your kids think you should still be out chasing the same useless crap they are, and I once did. For me, I lived long enough to realize none of that even made a difference. Usually just created yourself more headaches.
I left Northern Maine Nov 1st and drove 4000 miles to southern Mexico. I’m checking out of my room today and heading on down to the coast, (Puerto Escondido) and plan on spending the next 2 months traveling around Mexico then start heading back home. When I get there, I’ll get to hang out with the other local old guys at the coffee shop that their world stops at the county line.
It’s a hard sometimes, but you need to keep brushing “old” out of your mind.

Turning 66 in a few days, but feel like 80 because of the arthritis and some cognitive decline. but I keep trucking on.
it’s been about 11 years since I lost my high school sweetheart to lupus after being together for a total of 40 years.
We had a lot of happy years together in a small town in the SF Bay area. Had no interest in traveling the world, we were happy with just visiting the giant redwoods, or in our favorite places in PT. Reyes, Monterey and Carmel. But I soon realized the truth of this Bible scripture: “A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”
So I eventually retired at 62, sold everything basically just start running. I made it all the way here to the Philippines. Where the young people still call their elders, ma’am, and Sir. Which only increases my respect for them.
Well, I see the sun is starting to come UP, so I better get on my morning bicycle ride before the tropicals sun shows up.

When I heard this song some months ago it immediately resonated with me. It absolutely tells my story from when I was a young man up to now. I’m 77, a career as a welder and as a trapper has beat my body down. I still trap beaver & mink even though it’s harder to do every year. The pain, yes, my hands & legs hurt and my balance walking in streams is a thing of the past. I get cold quicker and the hills seem higher to climb and I get slower but it’s my heritage yet the pain I don’t remember persists when it didn’t before. A song of my life!

"God", Jeebus" and "heaven" are myths in very old book of fiction, dipstick!
All religion is a detriment to society.
Religion is full of people who base their decisions on belief rather than logic and factual evidence.
Religion is just an evolution of superstition.
Any rational and logical person can see that it makes far more sense that all religion is just man made.
They base all these religions that have proven to be simply superstition..
....and never ask themselves "Why is my God real when all the others before them weren't?"
The odds of God being real are non-existent.
And the evidence for an afterlife is ZERO.

So if you contract colon cancer you are going to "fight it naturally/ holistically" - and die in about 3-months.
Or have clever doctors fix it, with the help of drugs and chemo, and you will live for a normal life expectancy.

The saying " Life is short " really hits home when you start getting close to the finish line. Looking back on your life, you realize that life really is short. My neighbor is 83 years old and his son got him a t-shirt that reads " It feels weird to be the same age as old people " I love it 😅

Great song Shane. 62 now and pondering retirement, life after retirement, how much time do we really have left. No expiration date tatooed on us so make the best of what you have, and the time left. Get rid of negative people and influences - they ain't effing worth having in your life anymore. Peace, Grace and happiness is what we desire after we've been 10' tall and everyone knew our name!

The foods people consume these days are horrific. I grew up in the 70’s and gas stations sold gas and had 1 gum ball machine and one soda machine outside. Now gas stations are grocery stores for junk food. It’s no wonder we’re seeing cancer spiking in folks under age 50 ! The last 5 obits in our local paper were ages 37-61 ! 😮 I don’t know any younger people growing their own food, just us folks over the age of 50.

I have been hearing and reading views such as you have posted for nearly all of my 85 years on this planet...
and I still have not found ANYTHING that even comes close to COMMON SENSE or FACTS to back up the claims.
What you have posted is NOT what you have learned... it is what you have read or have been TAUGHT by other humans who don't know and CANNOT KNOW any more about this subject than you do. But they all SOUND GREAT.
"Eternal life"... sounds terrific... except there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE that such a thing even exists. In fact, ALL the evidence proves it DOES NOT. Oh... there are volumes of books that say it does... but there's no evidence to prove that in the books either. It's all glib opinion and untested assumptions. In other words... FICTION.

My folks were still doing the New York times crossword into their nineties. Unfortunately we left the world in a worse place than we inherited. Most of the mom and pop businesses are gone. The big box stores have seen to that. We burned through natural resources like there was no tomorrow but tomorrow will soon be here. In some ways I am glad to be missing it.
