Here's another original piece that has been released for about a year, now! It's not quite as polished as "Daughter Of The Moon" -- I view this one as more of a demo for a greater vision, and as such I hadn't posted it here. Since it was recently re-released on iTunes and Loudr, though, I thought I'd share it!
This song is greatly inspired by Azula's storyline in Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's a depiction of a desire for control and dread at the thought of being viewed as weak -- something I'm sure many of us can relate to sometimes. This one's a tribute to the fire and the fear in all of us.

I was not aware of this and now I kind of feel even more bad for Azula.
Yeah, I think about that sometimes. A lot of people think she was older than Zuko, but she was just indoctrinated into the war mindset far faster and easier than her brother. The episode with them at the beach shows this best. She literally does not know how to function outside of war, and it's several levels of fucked up that she was like that at only 14.
That won't stop the fanbase sadly
I mean she wasn't the best person but at the end I do pitty her and she was actually a cool character
One of the best cartoon characters no doubt. She also has a pretty cool sort of redemption story going on in the comics but that just started so there is no telling where they are going with that.

This kind of makes me wish that Avatar : The Last Airbender never ended. It was a beautiful show, filled with comedy, action, and of course, minor drama. I still remember coming home every day, and my brother and me would watch a few episodes a day, let's just say we watched it over 50 times, seriously...one of the few things we bonded over.
its sad, but its best when great things end. Or else they end up getting bad at some point.
Yeah, it was just one of the things I grew up on, ya know. I was really sad when it ended, and when they took it off Netflix, so I could never watch it again, since we didn't have cable tv

Its hard to admit it but Azula was a great character with great development, even if she was bad to the bone, well it wasn't her fault it was her past.
I love you. (Non weird way) I always loved characters for their development and choices. When a character has so much story, detail, and all it makes the perfect character for the story. When I was younger, deep down I always knew Azula was my favorite character. Her personality, past-to-present actions, and development was something worked so hard on and should be loved by all.
I always love villains with class. Dr. Eggman, Maleficent, Xemnas, Lex Luthor and, of course, Azula
She was a well written and developed character, BUT nearly every character except for the Fire Lord developed passed their pasts and did not let their past define them as characters or as people. How many Thousands if not millions died be Iroh's hands or by his orders? Yet he is one of the most compassionate and loving characters in all of literature. Arguably he suffered much worse than Azula and yet he did not let his past define him NOR did he allow his past to be an EXCUSE for his behavior in the present.
Sad we have not got expansion to her story post show.
It was absolutely her fault. Lots of people have bad childhoods. Zuko, Aang, and Katara all had more trauma than her and didnt become evil.

My only complaint with this song is that I wish the last verse was longer. I think the contrast of Azula at the end with her at the beginning is just so beautiful and I wish we had more of it! Basically, I just don't want the song to end :(

She always strikes me more as a girl who just saw everything as a game and was very good at playing it, rather than a full fledged psychopath. A true psychopath wouldn't care what their mother thought of them, although I guess we'll never know since we didn't get that fourth season.
There are comics set after the show. The one called The search will give you alot of zuko and azula stuff as they're looking for Ursa.

the great thing about the Avatar series is there is really no bad guys
just stubborn people with conflicting interest, misinformation, or plain uninformed.
most all people are redeemable..
like Zuko.
but not everyone is so lucky like Princess Azula.

Azula has always been my favorite character since I first watched the show and it wasn't until this year that I learned this song was about her. I had found it wile browsing Itunes once and it became one of my favorites and I'm so happy to hear that one of my favorite songs is for my favorite character. :3

Azula is such an incredible villain. Despicable, badass and all around deplorable while also having a layer of sympathy to her. Everything an antagonist should be. This song captures that beautifully.

I'm listening to this for the first time, and I like this the most of the three originals. I love the energy filled style with the fiddle, but the key helps bring in the audience more enthusiastic instead of a high key tone. Overall, it's a great composition.
