I got a couple of the cheap power chain grinders but most of the time I sharpen by hand. Great Video Justin. thanks for being on my stream tonight .

If you have an 'extra camera' laying around, one day I would like to see you add a 'wide angle' view that demonstrates what someone sitting across the shop from you would see during a project. I may be the only one, but I'm curious about how you setup your camera(s) during these restorations and I think a 'wide angle' perspective would be an interesting addition to show that.
I've seen another UA-cam-er accomplish this by having a secondary camera record the 'whole shop' perspective as a timelapse for his full project and then drop that in at the end of his video at 'double speed' as an appendix to give the full beginning to end of the entire shop during the project.

In the words of Mark Novak (gunsmith/youtuber) " it's not a restoration its 30 years of deferred maintenance! "

Did the same myself, but it was more like 45 years of it, seeing as the date on the one part was 1974. Still a lot to go, but at least it does work, and does the job it is meant to. Got at least it cleanish, or at least got to see that the stainless steel parts actually are stainless, rather than dark brown from years of dust and gunk being baked on them. Now to see if the second parts mule can be fixed up, as it is mostly complete, but missing a few parts that will have to be made, and a good number that need repair from wear. Going to do the same as I did on the first, and braze up the holes and drill them out again, so there will be some bronze bushings in there to reduce steel to steel wear.

My guess is it’s a lufkin grinder blade. Lufkin is a common used brand of blade used for cutting/grinding machines

Foley 308 I believe. Supposed to be a medium light green. I'm working on one now. Not sure you were aware, but you can get the manual here- vintagemachinery.org/pubs/318/16303.pdf Quite a lot of engineering went into the machine and using the correct wheels, putting the right radius on the wheel and making the right settings for the particular chain are very important.

Call me paranoid but I would never take anything apart on a bench with all those holes in it for things to fall down

Oh I definitely drop some screws. It seems like it's always the smallest fastener that fall through the holes.

Those machines have ruined many a chain. Personally I use one every 3rd or so hand sharpening to true everything up.
