  • This one is the hardest story to tell, it is the story of the insident we had with our brand new Ford F350. we were left stranded in the bush and had to use our bush skills and Personal Locater Beacon (PLB) to be rescued.
The car had to be rescued the next day and sent back to Perth whilst we stayed in Town until we knew what we were dealing with.

We are a family of 5 travelling Australia indefinitely in our new Lotus Caravan and our 2021 F350 from Harrison F-Trucks. We will take you to many destinations and let you know what works for us and what doesn’t, so you don’t make the same mistakes.
We are from Perth Western Australia and want to see as many destinations as we can together as a family, we never take the easy road and if we see a track, we always wonder where it will lead us, so we generally take it to see where it leads.
Thanks for watching and reading if you have made it this far down, hope you enjoyed.

Really glad that you guys have made this video. I wont lie and say i haven't been trying my hardest to find out what happened, I have been very keen to know what happened. Very relieved that it wasn't an actual crash. So I'm thankful to hear that. Like everyone else, very sorry to hear that it happened. I watched "The Explore Life" video on your beast, and i was instantly in love. So i cant even imagine how you two felt. Especially with the time, effort, and money that was put into creating such a wonderful car.
The support you guys give each other is truly amazing. I can't wait to see what you do with the next gen "Tour Duty"

Hey guy’s only new to your channel watched the episode of your truck on the explore life nice truck a lot of coin at 300 k
It’s sad to see you lost it from a simple crossing I know you lost 50 to a 100 k but it’s only money could be a lot worse
Speaking from experience being a ex dairy farmer went through two of the biggest floods in history in our area ended up walking off the farm lost everything and divorced to boot

So sad to hear but on a positive note looking forward to the next adventures. Your videos helped kick start our family WA adventuring (unfortunately in much smaller and infrequent blocks). Headed down Esperance way for the first time Jan 2022 which we loved so locked in again for 2023. Our Forester did a good job, but the UA-cam algorithm put us onto your video from the area shortly after showing us so many thing we missed or didn’t even know about. Wife and I have been watching you since. Had 10 months to get excited for the Jan 2023 trip back and all the new things to do which included buying a 4x4 and all the fun doing some mods. Just got back and safe to say got so much more out of our time there exploring thanks to you. Only thing I think I skipped was driving up the Wylie Bay rock! Maybe 2024… Thanks for sharing your family adventures.

Guys, that is such a heartbreaking experience. It is great to see that you are at a point to keep the full time caravanning life alive. This means that having lived it so far you know the end game is worth it. It is an amazing life but yep, it's definitely not all rainbows, though this is next level and then some. We're about to hit play on your next one, but couldn't without leaving a comment. This vid really shows what you are made of and you are a bit bloody inspiring to people who unfortunately get in nasty situations, both at the time and along the long road afterwards to the end result. We've been full timers ourselves for sometime now, and have had some nasty times, but as they say 'there is always someone off worse'. Yep, you filled that one for us! Stay passionate about this life, it's a big country but a small world - see you on the road 'somewhere'....

To build any 4x4 to travel around Aust and not fitting a snorkel is a bit silly I’d say... increased even more by some of the worst floods to hit the region and driving through it unprepared... 🤷🏼‍♂️
Puts a lot of pressure on already over worked rescue services when it could have been avoided by a $1500 part...
    anyways, lessons learned I guess...

About a 300k vehicle and no snorkel even if they don't make one off the shelf there would have been a specialist fabricator who could have made one to order. Would have been my first mod instead of all the fancy toys and whizz bang canopy. There is only one insurance company for anyone who wants to 4wd and be properly covered including full off road recovery Club4x4

+Darren Gray like I said when we built it no one built one for it once someone started doing a 5 inch we had booked it in and was weeks away from getting it installed. I’ve always had a snorkel on every car. 🤦🏼‍♂️

This is my first time watching one of your videos. Thanks for sharing the story. We are about to head off on a semi-lap and I guess the thing I take out of this video is don't assume anything is just a short trip, always be prepared.
The insurance thing, well that's just typical of an insurance company right? What a bunch of scumbags.
Hope things turn around for ya. All the best.

Damn that sucks, confirmed my suspicion about these late model F trucks with parts availability so thanks for that. I’ll keep my 2006 F250 a bit longer.

Great you can live to tell the story and know what to do in future. It was an accident in regards to the car sucking in water. Just terribly unlucky on that crossing and having it dip to suck water in.
