Which theory is most plausible for the mystery character on the Sonic x Shadow Generations website? What would YOU want to see? Who did I miss this might be a good fit?
I hope it isn't, but that's because I want a Sonic x Silver game at the least. Best case scenario, he gets a spin off solo game that's more combat focused.
I've watched a few videos of the demo and he is very clearly talking about black doom there. Black doom appeared, talked to shadow a little then disappeared, after that is when shadow says that line i think. Been a while since i watched the demo footage so i could be wrong.
Hear me out: Omega. Why omega? Well, Rouge is stuck in the void, and I could imagine that Shadow and Omega are on a mission when he snatched by the Time eater. And here is the part where omega comes in he would definitely investigate it where he also was snatched by the time eater and lands in Shadow's void where both of them go through Shadow's past ones more and omega learners more about project Shadow.
My guess is Mephiles, he looks like shadow so you wouldn’t have to change any of the proportions and if the theory is true about Mephiles and the time eater being one, then Mephiles could well and truly be the main villain in this game and a playable character.
It would be a wasted opportunity to not have the biggest menace in 06 make a return especially given that mephiles is one of shadow’s biggest opps considering shadow had a huge role in being the reason mephiles was sealed in the scepter of darkness to begin with.
I hope it’s silver because he’s the only other character who we don’t know how he got into it. And mephiles and kingdom valley might mean silver aswell
Maybe "Somehow Mephiles has returned." I can see Silver being playable next, seeing as he's one of the rivals Sonic battles in the white space. Which means (Classic) Metal Sonic will probably come after.

This was past Sonic’s jump to 3D and thus a classic Shadow simply doesn’t exist as Shadow is a post-classic era character Not only that, but a young Shadow reasonably shouldn’t be possible. Shadow is ageless and was never really younger than he is now

My guess is that it's Gerlad Robotnik. In his levels you can play his backstory on how he created Shadow. I think he's an unlikely character, but will make sense.
It better be Silver. He needs justice done on him. If it ain't Silver then it's confirmed that Sega just doesn't fuck with him. But it can work!! Because Shadow and Silver has that kind of connection.
i think we could see a anniversary for silver in 2026 it depends on if they make a sonic 4 and include silver and blaze in it further more i feel like it wouldnt make sense for them to use silver in a shadow themed story over someone like omega or rouge
Silver not being playable in this wouldn't confirm anything at all. This is the "Year of Shadow", and the game is called "Shadow Generations". Silver not being playable would only be because it's not his time for spotlight. Considering they're rotating through all the characters one by one, don't worry. They'll get to Silver eventually. I'd guess we'll have a Year of Blaze before then though.
I’m surprised that we are getting a fourth playable character. There are a few possibilities of who it could be. I don’t think it’s the Dreamcast Sonic, because they obviously already showed it to us, but then again, I might be wrong. Maybe. My guess is that it could be a Shadow reskin, or a different Shadow model. Kind of like something out of 06. Although that does sound pretty dumb for me to say. It might be that Classic Sonic in that Shadow suit, but probably not. My theory is a Shadow reskin or just a different model.

I think it's actually going to be a character bio for the game's overarching villain, who I think could either be Mephiles or even an entirely original character. I don't think it'll be a playable character though, and I honestly hope it isn't because I think the spotlight should be solely focused on Shadow, seeing as he hasn't had his own game in quite a long time, and he needs all the spotlight he can get in order to repair the damage done to his character over the years. Also, the whole timeline thing doesn't make sense, since both Shadow and Silver were trapped in white space like all of the other NPCs.
My take that it's going to be android shadow that plays like classic sonic because you know it had it's lore when shadow was confused if he is the real shadow or an android. Or a super triple but it's hidden like SA2 when the final story is playable when you beat the hero and ghe dark story. Besides winged shadow image already appeared in the shadow bio section of the website so it's likely not him at all
But why i don't think it's the other characters first it says in the trailer "and antiheroes" so it may not be mephiles or eggman because they are pure villans but the idea of mephiles in this game is really cool but if he will be in the game he would only be a villan as a boss and also his gameplay mechanics would be very complex to implement and we already know that eggman is with the time eater. The second thing is it says "3 hedgehogs" so i don't think so it would be silver maybe metal sonic because he is not particularly a hedgehog he is just the same case as android shadow but i think it's android shadow more because, well, shadow... i guess.
I think Silver might be the most likely. Like Shadow, he wasn't even at Sonic's party in the start of the game, he just kind of shows up for a rival battle. So I can see a story where he's investigating the time eater stuff, but bumps into Shadow. And maybe all this time travel brings Mephelis/iblis back too.
Ok hear me out... what if tit would be a fully Doom consumed "Evil" version of shadow that would kinda look like the Ultimate form of Mephiles, except with Shadow's color scheme?

Its still the same character, i mean sure modern shadow can help his old self with his grief but in terms of gameplay, there's nothing new, you just play as shadow with another skin, and they cant really make a SA2 inspired game because its like 99% similar to the modern gameplay, you just cut out the boost mechanic and thats all it is
I think it's either Ermal (the orange robot from sonic battle and the one cream killed in sonic x) or Aberham tower (the gun comander from shadow the hedgehog 2005). Ermal was shown in the short animation that Sega released for the game. and Ian Filn (I think i spelled that wrong) responded to a tweet that was talking about Maria and ermal that had a picture of aberham as a kid with "#knowingsmile". I'm leaning more towards Aberham Tower instead of Ermal because that clip could just be them showing off the possible bosses for the shadow segment of the story.
Abraham Tower was the GUN commander's name in the Archie comics. His real name had never been revealed in the games. However in the movies he's called Commander Walters.
Well wait...if we're to go by the whole "What was Shadow doing during Generations?" theory then Silver would make the most sense. Blaze is at Sonic's party in the beginning. and no Silver. and as far as I remember, Silver isn't an character you have to save with color like Amy, Chaotix and whatnot. So I can see Silver being it. or at worse....it could be just a placement for Shadow skin. Who knows.
Mephiles on the wiki it said that could bring him back in future Sonic games. Mephiles was in Shadow's stoty in 06 and you fight him as a boss in that game.
It's possible it could be Blaze, too. Or Mephilis, but neither of those 2 feel likely. I think the best option, assuming it's a completely separate character, is a "Classic" Shadow or Silver.
Silver. Since Sonic Forces I want him to be playable again. He can easily boost via his psychic powers. And his psychokinesis can be compared to Shadow's Chaos/Doom powers.
What's wild is that Generations on PC didn't and doesn't even need a remaster. What it *did* need was DLC levels as a greatest hits collection on top of the ones we already got in game.
If it’s gonna be a new character, or at least a playable character, I believe it’s gonna be Movie shadow since they talked about us getting content around the holiday times of the late year, so it makes sense to add movie shadow to shadows side
Seeing that Shadow is, from what I can gather from the first level being 100% in 3D and Shadow's an icon of the Adventure era. Appearing in Adventure 2, and his story is focused on during that era. The Shadow Androids too. I think that Silver's very likely because of 06, seeing how that he was also a main character in 06. Either that or a Shadow Android. Personally think it's Silver though. Editing this in: Another point in Silver's corner is the fact that you can view this as a "Second Attempt" to make these characters' abilities working better. Shadow's got Adventure 2 but he was only his own character gameplay wise in Shadow the Hedgehog. Which wasn't really well received. You know who else is a hedgehog with special abilities appearing in a game that wasn't well received? Silver. Said game had Mephiles as a doppelganger of Shadow, so it's not to crazy to think he'd be back.
With the bio lizard being in the game as well, it feels like a soft sequel to Sonic Adventure 3, whilst integrating the lore from Shadow The Hedgehog, which i felt was actually a pretty fun game.
What about movie Shadow? There's a new level and skin that'll be released with the season pass of this game, and I wonder if it could be a movie tie-in.
It would be a cool twist if it is Silver as the fourth playable character and his levels would be going through level that were in the 3D version like Casino night, Mushroom Hills, Emerald Coast, i think they had Sonic rush levels in the 3Ds versions. Like ever since Sonic x Shadow Generations, one of my questions i had about it is what about the 3Ds Generations levels. Like there's no mention of them in Sonic X Shadow.

Here me out, the 4th character is Terios from a Timeline that the design was used instead of the current shadow design. The Skin given to us isn't a Shadow Skin and was placed there as a easteregg hidden in plane sight type of deal, Instead, the skin is just a Alternate Terios Skin, This could work and make sense, Because Terios had 4 original designs. Not saying this IS the case, But this DOES seem like something Sega would do in an attempt to pull one over on some of the most hardcore fans. Everyone saw that skin and just assumed "Cool, Shadow Skin based on original art". But it never directly states "Skin for Shadow", Also, It says there are "more skins coming in a December update". Could be they have ALL or even MORE Terios skins than the original 4 and just can't show them or announce them, Otherwise people might become suspicious of the fact that supposedly "Shadow" is getting like 4+ Terios skins. If they straight up announced that all that once, I would be questioning it, Especially since it never directly states it's a "Shadow Skin". .... Or it's Big the Cat KEK
They could lowkey use Silver, and could allow for us to get a Silver the Hedgehog game, and much more through just Silver himself and a Possible Shadow and Silver Mentor and Student like Duo.

I know this is very unlikely but what if it was Eclipse the Darkling from the Achie Comics. He is basically Shadow but fully Black Arms instead of a hedgehog. Other than that the 4th character might be Mephiles or a new form for Shadow.
As much as I'd love Metal Sonic Silver makes the most sense unless they're waiting till 2026 for a Silver campaign DLC. It would be Sonic's 35th, Shadow's 25th, and the 20th anniversary of Sonic 06 Silver's debut and ONLY GAME! (ignoring spin offs like his 2p appearance as Galahad in Black Knight, Rivals games, Olympics, Kart, and Riders games) While it would be Generations' 15th anni. 3:40... he was... there? He's a rival battle lmao. Silver and Metal are also rivals, so they seem likely as playable candidates too. If I had to guess Metal Sonics (modern and classic honestly possible), while lazy could be skins for Sonics, while Silver gets his own smaller campaign.
For me, I think it would be so damn unexpected and cool if it turns out to be Emerl, considering the fact that they share lore on the ARK with a personal connection to Dr. Gerald. If they pull that it would be the ultimate shocker and comeback for an underrated yet beloved character in the franchise! 🤩
I’d love to see it being Mephiles, probably in his Shadow form, maybe it would just take up the classic portions of 2-player portions in that sense, but of course we still wanna see him be a major antagonist in the game, most people including myself probably want him more of an antagonist than Black Doom

Eras are just timelines anyway. Shadow technically “exists” in the classic timeline but no one ever opened his capsule on prison island and probably never will.
That would make a lot of sense to me! They've been giving her a lot of focus lately, she shows up with Shadow at the end of Sonic Generations, and Knuckles was playable in Frontiers which this new game is built off - so she'd be very easy to implement.
It's Emerl. You all are crazy for thinking it's anyone else. It would make complete sense. All Shadows levels will be Modern, so he would need a counterpart to match. Earl copies combat data. He would be a perfect fit for a replacement for Shadow, given he was part of the namesake project.
Silver is the only one most proficient and familiar with time travel so it makes perfect sense. Even in the comics and Forces he always come around when something happening presently in Sonic and Shadow's time could put his future in danger!

It could be one of the Shadow Androids, or Mephiles? Since Generations is all about time travel and visiting the past, it would make sense for Mephiles to appear again. And since Mephiles takes his look after Shadow, it would probably be easy for the devs to make him playable and just give him Shadow's animations
Not sure if this was said in the comment, but gemrel could be a good option, he's not present during the main game and has tie's to gerald (atleast his original emeral did)

From recent news I think it’s Movie Shadow! They legit just revealed that Movie Shodow will be in the game with Keanu Reeves voicing him too.

I think Silver might be the most likely. Like Shadow, he wasn't even at Sonic's party in the start of the game, he just kind of shows up for a rival battle. So I can see a story where he's investigating the time eater stuff, but bumps into Shadow. And maybe all this time travel brings Mephelis/iblis back too.

Its still the same character, i mean sure modern shadow can help his old self with his grief but in terms of gameplay, there's nothing new, you just play as shadow with another skin, and they cant really make a SA2 inspired game because its like 99% similar to the modern gameplay, you just cut out the boost mechanic and thats all it is

I think it's either Ermal (the orange robot from sonic battle and the one cream killed in sonic x) or Aberham tower (the gun comander from shadow the hedgehog 2005). Ermal was shown in the short animation that Sega released for the game. and Ian Filn (I think i spelled that wrong) responded to a tweet that was talking about Maria and ermal that had a picture of aberham as a kid with "#knowingsmile". I'm leaning more towards Aberham Tower instead of Ermal because that clip could just be them showing off the possible bosses for the shadow segment of the story.
Abraham Tower was the GUN commander's name in the Archie comics. His real name had never been revealed in the games. However in the movies he's called Commander Walters.
Well wait...if we're to go by the whole "What was Shadow doing during Generations?" theory then Silver would make the most sense. Blaze is at Sonic's party in the beginning. and no Silver. and as far as I remember, Silver isn't an character you have to save with color like Amy, Chaotix and whatnot.
So I can see Silver being it. or at worse....it could be just a placement for Shadow skin. Who knows.

Mephiles on the wiki it said that could bring him back in future Sonic games. Mephiles was in Shadow's stoty in 06 and you fight him as a boss in that game.

I think the best option, assuming it's a completely separate character, is a "Classic" Shadow or Silver.
Silver. Since Sonic Forces I want him to be playable again. He can easily boost via his psychic powers. And his psychokinesis can be compared to Shadow's Chaos/Doom powers.
My guess is Emerl, he apears on the 3 episode animation of SxS Generations and i think they want to bring him back

What's wild is that Generations on PC didn't and doesn't even need a remaster. What it *did* need was DLC levels as a greatest hits collection on top of the ones we already got in game.
If it’s gonna be a new character, or at least a playable character, I believe it’s gonna be Movie shadow since they talked about us getting content around the holiday times of the late year, so it makes sense to add movie shadow to shadows side
Seeing that Shadow is, from what I can gather from the first level being 100% in 3D and Shadow's an icon of the Adventure era. Appearing in Adventure 2, and his story is focused on during that era. The Shadow Androids too. I think that Silver's very likely because of 06, seeing how that he was also a main character in 06.

Editing this in: Another point in Silver's corner is the fact that you can view this as a "Second Attempt" to make these characters' abilities working better. Shadow's got Adventure 2 but he was only his own character gameplay wise in Shadow the Hedgehog. Which wasn't really well received. You know who else is a hedgehog with special abilities appearing in a game that wasn't well received? Silver.
Said game had Mephiles as a doppelganger of Shadow, so it's not to crazy to think he'd be back.

With the bio lizard being in the game as well, it feels like a soft sequel to Sonic Adventure 3, whilst integrating the lore from Shadow The Hedgehog, which i felt was actually a pretty fun game.
What about movie Shadow? There's a new level and skin that'll be released with the season pass of this game, and I wonder if it could be a movie tie-in.
It would be a cool twist if it is Silver as the fourth playable character and his levels would be going through level that were in the 3D version like Casino night, Mushroom Hills, Emerald Coast, i think they had Sonic rush levels in the 3Ds versions. Like ever since Sonic x Shadow Generations, one of my questions i had about it is what about the 3Ds Generations levels. Like there's no mention of them in Sonic X Shadow.

Here me out, the 4th character is Terios from a Timeline that the design was used instead of the current shadow design. The Skin given to us isn't a Shadow Skin and was placed there as a easteregg hidden in plane sight type of deal, Instead, the skin is just a Alternate Terios Skin, This could work and make sense, Because Terios had 4 original designs.
Not saying this IS the case, But this DOES seem like something Sega would do in an attempt to pull one over on some of the most hardcore fans. Everyone saw that skin and just assumed "Cool, Shadow Skin based on original art". But it never directly states "Skin for Shadow", Also, It says there are "more skins coming in a December update". Could be they have ALL or even MORE Terios skins than the original 4 and just can't show them or announce them, Otherwise people might become suspicious of the fact that supposedly "Shadow" is getting like 4+ Terios skins. If they straight up announced that all that once, I would be questioning it, Especially since it never directly states it's a "Shadow Skin".

I know this is very unlikely but what if it was Eclipse the Darkling from the Achie Comics. He is basically Shadow but fully Black Arms instead of a hedgehog. Other than that the 4th character might be Mephiles or a new form for Shadow.
As much as I'd love Metal Sonic Silver makes the most sense unless they're waiting till 2026 for a Silver campaign DLC. It would be Sonic's 35th, Shadow's 25th, and the 20th anniversary of Sonic 06 Silver's debut and ONLY GAME! (ignoring spin offs like his 2p appearance as Galahad in Black Knight, Rivals games, Olympics, Kart, and Riders games) While it would be Generations' 15th anni.
3:40... he was... there? He's a rival battle lmao. Silver and Metal are also rivals, so they seem likely as playable candidates too. If I had to guess Metal Sonics (modern and classic honestly possible), while lazy could be skins for Sonics, while Silver gets his own smaller campaign.
For me, I think it would be so damn unexpected and cool if it turns out to be Emerl, considering the fact that they share lore on the ARK with a personal connection to Dr. Gerald.
If they pull that it would be the ultimate shocker and comeback for an underrated yet beloved character in the franchise! 🤩

I’d love to see it being Mephiles, probably in his Shadow form, maybe it would just take up the classic portions of 2-player portions in that sense, but of course we still wanna see him be a major antagonist in the game, most people including myself probably want him more of an antagonist than Black Doom

Eras are just timelines anyway. Shadow technically “exists” in the classic timeline but no one ever opened his capsule on prison island and probably never will.

That would make a lot of sense to me! They've been giving her a lot of focus lately, she shows up with Shadow at the end of Sonic Generations, and Knuckles was playable in Frontiers which this new game is built off - so she'd be very easy to implement.

You all are crazy for thinking it's anyone else. It would make complete sense. All Shadows levels will be Modern, so he would need a counterpart to match. Earl copies combat data. He would be a perfect fit for a replacement for Shadow, given he was part of the namesake project.

Dreamcast Sonic would be awesome ! So hope it is probably not as there is an adventure skin for Sonic the game, but Sega was initially going to have Classic Sonic, Dreamcast Sonic and Modern Sonic in Sonic Generations !

Dollmaker is fine, but the wispons instead of any upgrade or moveset customization beyond a small subset of prebaked abilities was a miss.
It could be one of the Shadow Androids, or Mephiles? Since Generations is all about time travel and visiting the past, it would make sense for Mephiles to appear again. And since Mephiles takes his look after Shadow, it would probably be easy for the devs to make him playable and just give him Shadow's animations
Not sure if this was said in the comment, but gemrel could be a good option, he's not present during the main game and has tie's to gerald (atleast his original emeral did)
