    This is an all around very well done presentation, I felt like I was hanging out in the room enjoying what I was learning and hearing. well done, I look forward to having this synth in the hopeful near future.

    This is the only demo of the Rev2 I found that actually made me get interested in this synth as I really like the sounds I hear here. This guy knows how to play the keyboard and put it in a contemporary context, not play some boring old 80s plucks and quirky FM arps that nobody would use in real modern pop productions. Most of what I hear here I could totally use in current productions. Thanks for the great demo!

      People play a lot of crap on demos for it, but most of them don’t do it justice. Composer Jean-Michel Jarre calls it the best analog poly synth ever and I don’t think he’s completely crazy on that idea (I’d contend that the actual crown belongs to MOOG One).

      Modern pop productions sounds absolutely horrible. Is that the kind of music you’re making? Then you’re good with free VST synth my dude

    Nice one Jack - enjoy your style of review. The mod matrix assign method is a great feature. Definitely one for my future shopping list. Hoping I might meet Dave Smith next week in SF - a really nice bloke from what I could tell from watching interviews.

    What's the difference between the "Dave Smith Instruments" Rev 2 and the Sequential Rev 2?

    • @nicktiberimusic

      Just the decals, basically. Dave was able to reacquire the Sequential brand name soon after the Rev2 came out, so only the early models say "Dave Smith Instruments" on them.

    Be aware that despite claims otherwise, the Rev2 is not fully bitimbral, not fully 'two synths in one', in the following respect: The two layers can't respond independently to pitchbend !
    I think the applies to aftertouch as well, I don't know if anything else. Notes (of course), and other CC's work independently though, yeah. Who knows why they thought it was ok for pitchbend not to. And the worst part is DSI/Sequential not only neglected to tell us about this, they actually lied about in the manual. On p15-16 it repeatedly says the layers respond independently to MIDI controls. And after three years they are not going to fix it, or it's not even possible. Still a great sounding synth and all, just some issues with the company unrelated to how great the synths sound.

      are you sure ? if I run a sequence on A and play B then go the pitch bend A doesnt change only B ?

      Went to go try a prologue. I find it to be a disaster of a synth. Terrible knobs. Horrible keyboard. No after touch. Uninspiring patches. You get literally double your money's worth with a Deepmind 12, or at least a justified money spent with the rev2. Just my 2 cents though.

    • @uncccut23

      The Prologue sounds very cold and harsh in comparison with this magnificent synth

    • @PaulGBass
      @PaulGBass 2 роки тому

      @@ChesttRockkwell I have both, but Prologue features the more desirable VCOs plus a digital osc vs the REV-2s lower tier DCOs. Both are good. REV-2 has the better keyboard and modulation, 4 lfos vs just 1. Don't just pretend the VCO/DCO thing isn't an issue; Dsi/Sequential charge a huge premium for VCOs see the P5,6,10,OB6 and OB-X8...
      Also the built in effects on Prologue are far better than the REV-2 ones.
