The individual stories are one of my favorite things about ABT. Most who follow this know the battles, the battlefield, what happened on each day, etc... But the individual stories just make it that much more real & relatable. Thank you as always for doing this!
Thank you all for these videos!! I have a 4th-Great Uncle that fought with the 137th NY there at Culp’s Hill. He helped to defend that right flank of the Union line, and paid for it with his life. Mahlon J. Pardee was just 21 years old, and he is buried there on the battlefield with his NY brothers-in-arms. I wish I could find more information about him, but he was so young, he had barely started to live his life. 😢
At one point, the granite musket on the monument was broken off by... someone. It took several years for it to be repaired. One company of the 102nd NY was from my home town of Kingston, then called Rondout.
My g g grandfather by marriage was in the ohio 66th, 12th corp. He was promoted to corporal, just don't know when. I've found one picture of him taken in 1903 , he died in 04. Darke County ohio civil war veterans group picture.

I feel I connect better with history hearing the more personal stories of the individuals who lived through the struggles.
