Hayden the clock spring ribbon is an integral part of the CIM and i think the idea is for the new boss to sit on top of the CIM. Hopefully you can carefully wind it back into the housing & put your old steering wheel back on whilst you research the correct boss, at least you will be mobile again. Fairplay for taking it apart, im just praying its ok because these CIMs cost hundreds of pounds to replace, not to mention reprogramming the keys etc. My advice is to keep the whole CIM assembly in place as they are very delicate.
Yeah, 1. dissconnect the negative ( - ) first so if you hit a chassis earth point nothing will happen 2. reconnecting the battery you connect the positive first ( + ) then the negative ( - ) again for the same reason above so you don't short the battery out on anything.
Remove the negative first. It don't matter if it touches the bodywork as it's a ground. It's the positive cable you don't want touching the bodywork as it can damaged the electronics or Ecu.
You should have a resistor that comes with either the wheel or boss kit bro trial and error to see what way round it goes that will keep the airbag light off the resistor goes into one of the connections you took of the airbag
Nice effort chap fair play. That clock spring needs to go on right or it'll smoke when turning lock to lock. It allows the air bag and switches to be connected when turning lock to lock. If not already got it sorted you'll need to coil the spring back up and offer the unit back in place. Then to simulate turning lock to lock turn the front part two turns left and then back to centre and turn turns right and check to see if the coil is binding anywhere. Let us know how you get on, so at least you can drive until the new boss arrives.
Mate I've had a steering wheel and a boss for mine for 18 months and still haven't worked it out. My boss made my steering column click every time it turned. My boss looks nothing like yours aswell. My ribbon also came out along with the spring mechanism in the unit. I'm hoping you can help me with your second video haha
when i did mine i had a connector that came with it to just plug in and it tells the computor its still in the car mate gets rid off light on dash but few months later it disconnected so best to solder it as saves taking wheel of again its an mot failure if light on
Why don’t you invest in a Haynes work shop manual, also you may have trouble with your next MOT and insurance as this is one of the main safety systems in the car.
Jeeze don't let this guy near ya car 😂 ripped wheel, and almost fucked the cim module up. Guna get called a hater, but c'mon fella, do your research first before you pull things apart.
Suppose your right in a way 😂 I don’t mind you slagging me of because your kinda being nice at the same time 😂😂😂 yeah maybe I should do better research but oh well if it brakes buy another in my case 😂😂👍👍👍💪🏼
Evening mate just come across your channel, I take it now your traction control light has come on along with the air bag light , the thing you have knackered is the clock Ribbon that tells the indicators when to cancel

Hi mate just wanted to know when removing battery connector, Does it really matter if you remove the positive oh negative connect first
Why don’t you invest in a Haynes work shop manual, also you may have trouble with your next MOT and insurance as this is one of the main safety systems in the car.
