So I’ve been using the maguires stuff. Does a fantastic job of clearing the crap off your wheels. So what do I do to keep the brake discs clean? Start the car, floor it. Brake hard. Reverse, floor it brake hard. Discs are shiny every time. Yet I’ve just ordered a bottle of boot hamber 😂
Could you use auto wheels as a fall-out remover for paintwork ? I guessing that korrosol and auto wheels must be almost the same product . What would the difference be ? Thanks in advance
you can but it contains strong surfactants as well designed for cleaning alloys... but I have used it on paint in the winter. knocking down with about 30% water just to be a bit safer on paintwork.

Search up fast shot wheel cleaner. I think this blows away Bilt hamber in cleaning power. Slims detailing gave me a sample of it to try out and its the only wheel cleaner I'd use
I like to spray a bit on the brush and brush it on as I find that if you squirt it on the wheel, half or more of it goes straight through and lands on the brake disc or the road behind. Saves a lot doing it this way.
I've been using Autosmart Red7 on my wheels for the last 9+ months and, like the Bilt Hamber in your comparison, it 'lights up' very very quickly. How about a comparison with Red7 and Bilt Hamber?
One benefit to Meguiar's Ultimate Wheel Cleaner is that it can be used on all wheel surfaces. Not sure about Bilt Hamber since it is not available in the states. It makes sense that Meguiar's strength is less given it is designed to be sold to the average joe. It would be interesting how Meguiar's Wheel & Paint Iron Decon D1801 would compare to Bilt Hamber.

Have you looked at the prices of UK brands in the US or other places in EU even? Some can be a little close to your prices. This BH Auto-Wheel Cleaner in Sweden is around £17. The BH Auto-Foam 5L is £34 and the BH Cleanser Fluid 500ml is £20. Angelwax except the Enigma line is double of the price pretty much of every product. And AW you can not import your self from the UK as it's a thing AW don't allows. And for us US brands and especially Meguiars is even worse. Most products is double or tripple of the price vs what you get from the US and that's the retail prices and they like to have sales over there LOL. The Meguiars Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner is around your price as just over £15. But that's often when the chemical in the product like the bleeding chemical which always forget what's called gets a price quite simualar over the world. The Meguiars Hyper Dressing 1 gallon is £115 and the Wheel Brightener 1 gallon is £55. Just to get some products prices here in Sweden which includes taxes. So there are differences if it's domestic brands you buy or imported ones. We have a few good brands but not many with top notch products.
I'm assuming Jon has chosen the ultimate wheel cleaner for this test because it's more of a direct comparison... If the pro version is but effective, then why would meguiars sell the ultimate version... Surely it isn't to maximise profit by selling a watered-down product to the everyday consumer??
Appreciate your opinion. I like Bilt Hamber products and all their products I have used provide good results at a reasonable price. Keep up the good work!
I spoke to the incredibly helpful Emily at Bilt Hamber last month and asked her this exact question. Auto Wheel is apparently slightly more clingy / viscous, and so is more suitable for a ‘vertical’ surface. She said that their composition is extremely similar, and that neither will damage paintwork in any way. Hope that helps. 👍
Wonder how this test would go today with BH's apparent rebrand and pretty higher prices. 1L of Autowheel is now 18/19 quid for 1l. More expensive than the Meguiars. hmm
I never clean my wheels with such products, unless I need a clean slate before waxing. I actually wash my alloy wheels and wheel barrels every 8/ days with my regular soap, whoolies and brushes. I took them off the other day, they look brand new ! I will then use Carpro Iron X followed by an APC. And that is every 6 months only. Since I protect them with Collinite 845 topped with Beadmaker, wheel cleaners are unnecessary and too abrasive IMO.
I suspect that a more cost effective way of cleaning dirty wheels could be a 1:10 dilution of APC (Surfex), followed by a light spray of Auto Wheels or possibly 1:1 dilution of Auto Wheels because you would require less of the expensive product after using a relatively small amount of APC.
Thats exactly what I do too. Surfex removes a serious amount of dirt and contaminant, then autowheel just removes the bonded contaminants. Just using autowheel on its own sometimes needs a second hit as its fully reacted with the stuff that isn't bonded with nothing left for the stuff that is.
Meg's stuff is generally good, but I'm increasingly replacing my kit with Bilt Hamber. Use the Autowheels and Autofoam as part of my car washes. Also have BH clay bars, no need for expensive lube. Will be looking for other stuff of BH in the future - great stuff.
Meguiar's I see as just an overpriced "Halfords weekend massives" brand, people buy all their products on a Saturday and think they have a clean car. It's a stupidly expensive brand and their products are ultimately....rather shit. Anyway, moving on, I'm struggling to see the difference between BH Auto-Wheel and BH Korrosol? Anyone else wondering the same? In my experience they seem pretty much identical?
Seriously? I’ve had 35 cars, been cleaning them myself for 50 years, - for alloys -Fairy liquid, sponge and elbow grease works best. If really dirty a bit of wonder wheels, but only occasionally
Great vid, question I have a white greasy residue on my wheel nuts and on parts of my alloy wheel protectors that I can't seem to get off struggling to find anything about it online. Any idea in how to get this off, I've used quite a few different things but doesn't really seem to touch it been told it could be due to going to the quick wash places as they usually use high acid solution cleaners? Any advice would be great.
I don't know if you can get Elite car cleaning products in England or if they can ship it to you but there alloy wheel cleaner ( its alkaline not acid )is fantastic. They are a small family owned and run business and manufacturer their own products in Belfast, Northern Ireland supplying the trade and those in the know 😉. I've been using the stuff for over 30 years now and used neat or up to 5:1 and not just on wheels and tires but engine bays ect. You know its going to work well when you can see the dirt oozing out of your tyres, I've even used it on 40' curtain sided lorries and they don't half hold a lot of dirt.
People that buy most of megs stuff aren’t as into maintaining cars as people watching this video, think about it like this If a monkey can use it without damaging the car then the average joe can’t
Bilt Hamber Auto wheels make all coroded ! in the vent on the edge of disc brake are totaly coroded ! i change because of that my disk and big mess to clean bolts of wheels etc... I should never ever look at this video ! look this bran is very very bad. i try on other metal stuff is the same ! of couse i dont let at all the product dry. to resume that i am sorry but is shit
Tried the meg;'s ultimate wheel cleaner 2 weeks ago, Very disappointed, my old Tesco own brand wheel cleaner performed better...thats saying something!
Great video enjoyed it a lot. Surprised by the results! Never used a bilt hamber product but will definitely try after watching this. Would have been great to see sonax xtreme full effect in with these two as well, as a product that is highly rated online
I hope you read this, absolutely love the channel, the mount of info I have gained from watching you alone is incredible, I use a brand called ADS car care, I would absolutely love you to do a brand review or product review,I have been using it a while compare some of their products in some videos!
Awesome tests, loved the bottle on the background saying "dirt simulator" :D Gave me a good old laugh. No surprises in the results, this might be a bit bold, but I feel using more budget and performance oriented products everyday, that "big companies are just a good label, a fancy bottle and some performance, oh yeah and an amazing marketing team! ( and I also try to save me mates always a couple of quids recommending good and working stuffs, sort of educating them into the right direction) Thank you once again for the good and interesting video Jon!
Nice one Jon, a question though. Would either of the these be safe to use on wheels that have been ceramic coated? I’m getting a little build up of contamination in inaccessible areas that BH might shift, but the wheels have been treated with gtechniq coating.
@@ForensicDetailing oh I will check that. ;) also Meguiars now have the Iron Decon in the detailers series and the Mirror Bright wheel cleaner that also contains TGA. Also interested in seeing some Soft 99 products in your tests like their Iron Terminator wheel cleaner is pretty cheap.
I used Surfex HD at 1:10 17 quid for 5 litres. I was impressed very recently with brake buster to if you want to try a bespoke wheel cleaner rather than like an APC. But surfex performs great for regular maintainance cleaning
I have Surfex HD 5 litres mixed down to 200ml per litre . Maybe to much ?? Along with BH Snow foam I use mainly meguairs products but when i go gunning in on the wheels 1 litre may last me 2 washes and works out exspensive . RS4 19 alloys and BMW X5 20 inch alloy 😂
if you break it down WASH DECON ABRASIVES PROTECTION products. I think your statement is true Matt for wash and decon. But I think for abrasives and protection producsts there might be better options although the BH options are certainly viable (double speed at 14 quid is hard to beat)
In the UK, the Meguiars is an imported product, whereas the in the US, the Bilt Hamber is an imported product, and I am not willing to pay $30 for a 1L bottle of wheel cleaner.
I may be mistaken, but would I be correct in thinking that the Bilt Hamber Korrosol is also an effective wheel cleaner? I have not used either 'auto wheel' or 'korrosol' as a product but lookong to order one or the other for cleaning my wheels, what's best for my application (I'm not a pro detailer, just trying to keep my own car wheels clean).. Kind regards Steve
I talk about this very very soon where I explain all these product.. but simply if you want a wheel cleaner that uses fallout remover and strong detergents go autowheels. if you will use cheaper APC like surfex or other detegetns to clean wheels. And you want a fall9out remove for paintwork or wheels after they are clean (save money) get korrosol.
Hi John. Have you tried Poorboys Spray And Rinse Wheel Cleaner? On moderately dirty wheels, I don't have to make any contact when using this! God knows what they put in it, I dread to think!
Is it just me but the new bottles for auto wheel But I don’t like the spray pattern or lack of. It’s just a jet and doesn’t last as long as the old bottle sprayer
Is the BILT HAMBER better than DRAGONS BREATH?? (Valet Pro). That’s the best one I’ve ever tested. I’m really curious about your opinion. Thank you and greetings from Sweden 👍🏻 Love your channel! 😁
Hi John I’ve just purchased the BH cleaner ordered a litre do you need to dilute the product or is it pretty much ready to go?? I didn’t get a spray nozzle with it so I’m guessing it’s neat.
Do you mean BH autowheel? (they have a product called Cleanser fluid) autowheel use neat but you could add say 30-50% water if you wanted to bulk it down. BH cleanser fluid is neat. its not a water based product you cant dilute it.
Will the BH auto wheels be better then Korossol for baked on brake dust because the korrosol did not work! Can you please recomend something that will remove it. Thanks
Never used iron removers mostly I just use car shampoo but once in a while I do use wheel cleaners don’t know what’s the difference between those and the iron removers.
if they turn purple they are more or less the same thing.. iron removers with detergent mixed in. if you search for best fallout remover on your tube I explain how they work in detail but its boring stuff :)

Excellent knowledgable review, Jon!😎👏🏻
Always enjoy them as they’re very thorough and honest!👍🏻
What if you mix autowheel with surfex hd 50/50.
Wouldn't that be a touchless cleaner or would the chemicals fight with each other?
BH products are just frickin awesome,
Bilt Hamber are my go to brand for car cleaning, but i do buy Maguire's products too & 303 products
People that buy most of megs stuff aren’t as into maintaining cars as people watching this video, think about it like this
If a monkey can use it without damaging the car then the average joe can’t
Bilt Hamber Auto wheels make all coroded ! in the vent on the edge of disc brake are totaly coroded ! i change because of that my disk and big mess to clean bolts of wheels etc... I should never ever look at this video ! look this bran is very very bad. i try on other metal stuff is the same ! of couse i dont let at all the product dry. to resume that i am sorry but is shit
Would you lay a layer of foam over the Auto wheels to give some extra lubricity and add some degreasing capabilities
Now you just to compare Australia's MIRCH dragons blood.
Maguiera is awful took the chrome off my gmc it just pealed off had to buy new wheels ill never use it again
Your looking much healthier lately bro
proud premium patron subscriber
HEY, Hey, hey stop getting your younger brother to do the product comparison mash-up!
I think the BH is 30%, Maguire's is 10%. Correct me if I am wrong.
Never used BH but a very good cleaner and fall out remover as I tend to use Autoglyms magma as it does the job for me
Tried the meg;'s ultimate wheel cleaner 2 weeks ago, Very disappointed, my old Tesco own brand wheel cleaner performed better...thats saying something!
Nice unbiased advice as always Jon. Even though you're rocking the petulant teenager looks 😳👍🏻🤘🏻👏🏻
In Australia the Bilt hamber is $68 and the meguiars is $32.
Great video enjoyed it a lot. Surprised by the results! Never used a bilt hamber product but will definitely try after watching this. Would have been great to see sonax xtreme full effect in with these two as well, as a product that is highly rated online
I use BH in the winter when it's too bloody cold to do a contact wash and jet wash it off, incredible stuff 👍🏻
Cracking video as always!! Should these be avoided on alloys that are ceramic coated?
I hope you read this, absolutely love the channel, the mount of info I have gained from watching you alone is incredible, I use a brand called ADS car care, I would absolutely love you to do a brand review or product review,I have been using it a while compare some of their products in some videos!
Awesome tests, loved the bottle on the background saying "dirt simulator" :D Gave me a good old laugh. No surprises in the results, this might be a bit bold, but I feel using more budget and performance oriented products everyday, that "big companies are just a good label, a fancy bottle and some performance, oh yeah and an amazing marketing team! ( and I also try to save me mates always a couple of quids recommending good and working stuffs, sort of educating them into the right direction)
Thank you once again for the good and interesting video Jon!
Can this be used on panels?
Front rotors tend to have more brake dust than rear. But overall great video.
The answer is always Bilt Hamber, trust me I’ve tried all the rest.
Is this korrosol with a different label!? 🤔...
Can these products be used on gloss black alloy wheels? Cheers
I would to see you compare some Sonax products to BH
Lol @ the random second camera angle, bicep day earlier was it? 🧐
Meguiar's iron decon D1801 for me! 😉
Nice one Jon, a question though. Would either of the these be safe to use on wheels that have been ceramic coated? I’m getting a little build up of contamination in inaccessible areas that BH might shift, but the wheels have been treated with gtechniq coating.
You shouldve added Carpro IronX to that test imho ;)
see the best fallout remover video Ronke to see how that shapes up.
I use Turtlewax wheel cleaner at £5.25 happy days, great video as always.
Bradley Crandon To be fair I’ve found turtle wax products including wheel cleaners (red line and standard) to be good.
Whats your favorite wheel cleaner ? I use Bh but didnt like the way these products rust due to me not using the car daily
dave harris Get yourself an alkaline based wheel cleaner😎 ‘Viper’ from EZ Car Care is amazing 👍🏻
Along with BH Snow foam
I use mainly meguairs products but when i go gunning in on the wheels 1 litre may last me 2 washes and works out exspensive . RS4 19 alloys and BMW X5 20 inch alloy 😂
anytime its bilt hamber vs( insert any brand) ........ You know who's winning 👍
if you break it down WASH DECON ABRASIVES PROTECTION products. I think your statement is true Matt for wash and decon. But I think for abrasives and protection producsts there might be better options although the BH options are certainly viable (double speed at 14 quid is hard to beat)
@@ForensicDetailing yeah double speed is my go to. Despite trying a few more options
just sucks we cant get Bilt Hamber here in the US
In the UK, the Meguiars is an imported product, whereas the in the US, the Bilt Hamber is an imported product, and I am not willing to pay $30 for a 1L bottle of wheel cleaner.
Yes we talk about this a lot. You are right
Having used both BH and GTechniq W6, I think they compare very well. I use W6 as my go-to now however.
Agree!
Kind regards
Steve
I talk about this very very soon where I explain all these product.. but simply if you want a wheel cleaner that uses fallout remover and strong detergents go autowheels. if you will use cheaper APC like surfex or other detegetns to clean wheels. And you want a fall9out remove for paintwork or wheels after they are clean (save money) get korrosol.
Hi John. Have you tried Poorboys Spray And Rinse Wheel Cleaner? On moderately dirty wheels, I don't have to make any contact when using this! God knows what they put in it, I dread to think!
not tried mate sorry
Is it just me but the new bottles for auto wheel But I don’t like the spray pattern or lack of. It’s just a jet and doesn’t last as long as the old bottle sprayer
go elite mode. See best trigger sprayers. IK triggers bottles upgraded with Tolco big blasters
Is the BILT HAMBER better than DRAGONS BREATH?? (Valet Pro). That’s the best one I’ve ever tested. I’m really curious about your opinion. Thank you and greetings from Sweden 👍🏻 Love your channel! 😁
Can thr bilt hamber wheel cleaner be diluted?
Another great video, I started using BH a few years ago and found it to out perform the others even My old favorite iron x.
Much better than Iron x
Can this be used on black bmw alloys ? Specifically 19inch M Star Spoke? Will the black come off?
yes just dont let it dry and keep it on the alloy, away from the brake disks and calipers (pads really)
Thanks
it should be better yes.. but scrubbing will be the key lots of times.
What's it like on painted wheels ?
Never used iron removers mostly I just use car shampoo but once in a while I do use wheel cleaners don’t know what’s the difference between those and the iron removers.
if they turn purple they are more or less the same thing.. iron removers with detergent mixed in. if you search for best fallout remover on your tube I explain how they work in detail but its boring stuff :)
Which product would be recommended on my black alloys, fitted on my 240i ?
Bilt Hamber Autowheels for decon clean.. and Surfex HD for regular clean. Use soft brushes clean regularly.
