    Awesome detailed video sir! I have a 300, but my carb is identical. I went ahead and bought a new carb (only $15 more than a rebuild kit) and am going to calibrate it to your specs when I do the install this weekend. Not a motor head, just a DIYer trying to get a used toy ready for my son and your specifics will be a great help. Very grateful you took the time to do this for everyone.

    Same carb on my 08 500. Thanks for the vid. Bike was running kinda bad Friday, wouldn't start Monday day. Watched this then took mine apart and cleaned with compressed air and carb cleaner, runs better than ever now. Had tiny pieces of the old air filter that was coming apart clogging jets/ports.

    Stellar job. On the bowl, there is a overflow nipple, where do you attach a hose to it and where does the other end of the hose goes to?

    • @MidNebraskaMotorsports
      @MidNebraskaMotorsports  6 місяців тому +1

      Hose is attached to the nipple on the bowl. The other end runs down your crankcase and just dangles there so any drips of fuel ends up on the ground (or evaporating before it gets to the ground) Thanks for watching and the comment. Great video! The carb on a 2016 Alterra 400 is identical, except the air fuel screw cannot be adjusted, it has no screw head and appears factory sealed. My problem is the carb leaks out the overflow about once a month over the spring-summer-fall when it is used but I cannot figure out why as everything is clean (I have also installed an aftermarket fuel filter on the fuel line from tank to carb) and it leaked 2 days after installing a carb kit. I take it apart, clean everything, put it back together and its good for a while, then it overflows again, and I repeat the process. Sadly, your video didn't help solve my problem, but it is an excellent video.

      @@kristianturner131 Sorry, I can't confirm I have solved the problem as I put the quad away for the winter in November 2022, but it hadn't leaked for a while before I put it away. I dumped the fuel tank and cleaned it out to ensure no debris inside, changed the fuel hose in case it was deteriorating, put a better in line fuel filter on the fuel hose (I had been using one for a lawn mower that was 40 micron but got one at 10 micron) and put a new float valve that I got from the arctic cat dealer and not from a generic carb kit. The quad seemed to run better and it didn't leak for weeks where it had been leaking after a week or so after cleaning it previously. I'll see what happens in the coming spring to fall when it gets used again.

    Hello there, my son just bought a 1999 Arctic Cat 400 4x4 ATV and it runs real rich, also leaks fuel into the crankcase after it sits. When running it gets so rich it coats the spark plug with black ash so bad it won’t start anymore. It is missing the over flow needle and throttle linkage cover plate. It has a black plastic/foam material float. The throttle cable connection area is a lil different in design. I did adjust the float so it would close sooner however it still doesn’t seem to close at all. Please help if you can. Thanks, great video!

      Your needle/ seat is bad or stuck open. There is a chance it is your float, but typically these don’t go bad. My guess is, when they re-installed your carb, When they put the fuel line back on, it broke a piece of fuel line off and it ran into the needle area and was lodged. Allowing fuel to flow freely. Thanks for watching. Let us know if that works!
