You can spam the Q button to spot enemies in rear view as well. Helped me a few times when going for infantry or searching for the guy locking me all the time.
I met a lot of pilots who don't know you can spot targets while using the rear view camera. With some practice you can "self spot" an enemy jet while going for your stationary AA. Spotting enemy tanks while flying away helps with reacquiring your target quicker after the turn.
Ghost Gaming Oh wow you replied, awesome. The trick to the spot is to know exactly where the center of your screen is when you are flying. I have mine marked with a small piece of post-it note. If you are exact you can easily get the spot. I will make a short video of both my spotting methods (the AA self spot and the ground attack spot). I have never made a video before but give me a few hours and ill send you the link.
Ghost Gaming >>>> Here Is my link for the spotting ground targets xboxdvr.com/gamer/The3lackJesus/video/4943154 I almost started my attack run turn (with no particular targets in mind) when at the last second I saw two objects moving on the ground so I spotted them to make sure they were hostile then looped on them for the kill. Pre-spotting the enemies allowed me to quickly reacquire the targets after my turn. Without that I may not have had the airtime to complete the kill. The last clip is me self spotting a stealth jet letting the stationary AA get the kill. For me dog fighting waste time and does little to help the team so by dealing with jets quickly I can get back to doing my job. xboxdvr.com/gamer/The3lackJesus/video/4943899 The spot must be done quickly and it only last for a few seconds so timing is key. I spent most of the "dog fight" attempting to figure out (via the air radar) what path I will need to take so the enemy jet will be in prime position and altitude for the stationary AA to do its job (trickiest part of all). By the time I use my rear view camera I already know where he will be so the spot is quick. That lesson of spotting quickly was learned the hard way by smacking into the ground many many times. Well I hope this helps and feel free to use any of it for a video if you want to. Thanks for being awesome and keep up the tutorials. A good pilot is always learning.
Ghost on console u hit the right joystick to go in 3rd person and then you hit the left bumper, bumper is on Xbox and right top trigger is on or R1 on Playstation and u do that to go in the rear view camera
Usually when fighting another jet i have them follow me into my spawn, look through my rear view and Mark then that way they get shot down or damaged my our AA turret.
I haven't even been using third person, since I needed that rear quarter free look. I just wish DICE would enable head tracking for non-XBOne Kinect users, like real life looking at your target and dragging your nose into position.
I love the rear view cam.......if aimed right you can spot a jet in that view following you ....and it helps to spot him for the auto AA on anal strike.........allso on my way up i can pinpoint the next target WAY easier :)
when i spot alot of the time no icon appears over the target yet i see alot of people spotting multiply players at once??? is there something going on like a class difference or something
@Ghost Gaming whoah, you can do that? Doesnt that make dogfighting pretty doable then? I remember all bf3 pilots (including me) panicking because the 3rd person cam was so weird. Might actually check it out now xD is there a community again?
Dear Ghost if i may.. u using the afterburner too soon, when u pulling up and tap it u gaining to much speed. try to pull it when the jet is almost upside down to the horizon like a clock - on 12 and not on 3, like i watch u doing in the clip.
Hehe, I know mate I was totally failing there, I just jumped in there for the sole reason of recording this rear-view clip, afterwards we went on to dogfight for a while and I improved greatly. I'm a slow warmer-up, tiz my curse :(

ThatGuy I'm not sure if that works as effectively as before though, they nerfed spotting somewhat.

On ps4 the rear camera you should be on 3d person (pressing R3) and than holding R2 :)
Thanks for the pointer mate, not owning a console I have no idea :P

On the PS4, you push up on the D pad.

VideoCoPilot
i wish they added a two-player jet, lol
This video should have taken 2, maybe 3 minutes. Can't stand when shit is prolonged.
