Out of the dozens of new places you can visit in Tokyo, these are the best 7 “and a half” NEW places to visit in TOKYO! As im currently in tokyo here is a tipp for shibuya sky, book the ticket online or get there early to buy a ticket for the evening otherwise you might not get one, also after being on top go to route 2 where you can sit for free and enjoy the views while being inside ( on top you have to reserve and its cold plus you have to spend extra) additional information ... expect to spend some extra if you want to take pictures on some stylish spots...( have to take pics by a photograph that works there dont know though if you have to buy it ..)

Ryu no myo inshokugai is a tourist trap. They'll charge you a cover charge without letting you know. And it's for each person. They make sure to put the tourists in the corner. Read review before you go.

hmmm,... I had special visa status and was able to enter Japan August 2022. Without the foureign tourists it was peaceful (like it used to be!)
I just got back from Japan yesterday. It was refreshing to see it again after FIVE years! Tokyo Tower was a good ending to my journey, and it was the first thing I wanted to see EVER from the first time I set food in Japan back in 2016. Farewell Tokyo. It'll be a very long time before I come back to see the beautiful city again. Glad to have been there 4 times in my youth and to say goodbye as I head into the next chapter in my life as an older adult now.

I love the idea of that cafe with the special people controlling the robots 😍,there should be places like this allover the world! And that fish tank art WOW..thank you for sharing 🙂

Not a problem! Hmmmm any grocery store really. Just Google "grocery store" on maps, and it should give you plenty of good options. Most train stations will have a market or grocery store as well.

i think this was one of the best guide videos of japan i've watched so far. planning a japan trip and you explained everything very and introduced spots that i've added to my trip. You need to do a video with suggestions for foods now :P

I loved this video! I used to fly at least 3 times a year on business, but haven't been since right before the shutdown. I know many of my "haunts" are gone as friends who live in Tokyo have told me about them closing. This video gives us new and exciting things to do! We will be traveling in April and early May!

I wasn't sure what I was going to do in Tokyo outside of the Hachiko statue and Pokemon center/cafe as it wasn't really the main place I wanted to visit. Thank you so much I'm adding a few of these to my trip :)

Yea I didn't put it on the list because it's only temporary. Even so, it was an ok experience.
That aquarium puts goldfish in bowls which has been shown to be distressing for fish. Those aquariums are SO small! And why put nasty plastic colored flowers in them so they can break down and get in the water? I live here in tokyo and the amount of very low quality aquariums is not low… the Numazu deep sea aquarium is amazing though. And this Ginza one takes the cake on quality, honestly. The other picks for the vid are cool, and I didn’t know about the robot cafe. But that aquarium is wrong on so many levels

Great video as always, especially like that robot cafe because it great way to practice your Japanese while you eat it like a more useful version of the The Avatar movie also glad he trying to help people out bonus. Personally kind of spoiled on VR ever since buying my Quest 2 but still looks fun. Looking forward to checking out all these places in 2024.
Yea that is so true about the robot cafe. It was super wholesome to see all these disabled people able to participate in a normal life. The tokyo tower spot is super nice even if you do VR at home. You get to play with all your friends which makes it more exciting!
My daughter and I are visiting in January - only 4 days but I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. It is such a different world to where we have traveled before - we are excited though.

Sunshine City also has a cool aquarium in the same building. Its interesting because the aquarium is on I think the 8th floor or something. Also cant forget to visit TeamLab borderless! Round one! I was there in April and did some amazing things.

Yea you can still visit the cafe if you can only speak English. It might be a little difficult to understand them. But they are very patient and it's a very great place to visit! I hope you check out more videos in the future!

It looks nice but it’s also incredibly cruel to the fish, who are very sensitive to light and spend their entire lives in immense discomfort
For Ryu No Miyako Inshokuga , is there a long wait in line to enter because the space is so small? excited to try it but worried about the long line (if applicable); between Pepper Parlor and Dawn Robot Cafe; which do you think has more robot interaction/better robot expriece? thank you.
You should honestly try another Yokocho than Inshokugai. I have seen people walk away from it disappointed. Would suggest Shin Okubo Yokocho. Close by and really fun. I would also say the dawn star cafe has more interaction in general!

Just a UPDATE: I never used google maps while in Japan. I used Apple Maps the whole time and it worked out great! I loved japan so much.
Good to hear! Was it useful for trains too? Like did it tell you what platform and what train to transfer too? I just never use apple maps so I am not familiar with it.

Something about having the physical card gives me more of a secure feeling. I guess in case I lost my phone or something it would be one small thing I wouldn't have to worry about.

While the cafe is mostly Japanese, they do have some english speakers there. Even if you have trouble with conversation, everyone's kindness and great attitudes make up for the language barrier!

Actually not bad that this came out now, my friends in Tokyo have told me currently there are maaaany many tourists in all the usual spots. So I'm glad my plan is to explore as much as the unknown as possible. it wouldn't be a proper trip if I didn't visit tourist traps, though)
probably only around 30% of pre covid capacity. It is comfortable. Most of the people are japanese tourist if it is really crowded like kawaguchiko

hmmm, in Arakawa ward today, but crossed into Taito ward for morning walk. I would definitely recommend Yasaka cemetery and Yasaka Ginza. The cemetery has graves of some major historical figures and Yasaka Ginza is cute and fun,... lots of small bars and mom and pop shops.

@@harblife Even though we are strangers, based on your (really nice) videos, I think you'll enjoy it. Yanaka Ginza gets used a lot in movies when they are trying to depict " real " Tokyo (not the fake stuff in Akiba, Shinjuku and Shibuya) ...

Yes they have some waiters that speak some English. It is still a pleasant experience no matter what!
Hey harb I’m going to Tokyo my first time in April 2023 do you know if those over night busses are easily to get ? I’m planning to stay in Tokyo but I want to travel to kyoto for a few days by over night bus cause it’s cheaper and come back the same way
I can't imagine it's that hard to get. It's not like a lot of people want to travel that way for work either haha
Is the Fish Museum ethical? I feel like the lights and colours could stress the fish, also, some of the fish seemed to be in tanks too small for them. Id love to visit, but only if it could be confirmed that this is ethical, safe, and healthy for the fish. 💛🐟

@@harblife You might find Ichigaya-Dai interesting. It's the Japan Self Defense Force headquarters. You have to apply to visit and undergo a background check but there are some really fascinating places and displays here. You will be constantly monitored by staff; they will be polite but definitely not friendly.

Thanks for the video! I've walked past that yokocho thing in shinjuku but have not gone in. It has horrible reviews on Google. Do you give the criticisms online any credence? I wouldn't want anyone to have a bad experience when there are so many options in that area.

As for the bad reviews on Google maps, I honestly had a good time there. I wouldn't have put it on this list otherwise. I have seen all the bad reviews talking about the bad experiences though. I will definitely pay it another visit and see if I have a bad time otherwise.
I would say if you do try it out, go during a weekday, as it should have less people there and therefore a higher chance for a good time.

I’m curious if you were sponsored or given paid advertisement for mentioning Ryu No Miyako Inshokugai: Shinjuku Yokocho? I’ve seen multiple very bad reviews of this place on multiple sites. It makes me question how you can call this your new favorite place? Would welcome your thoughts.
Not at all. When I reviewed it, the place was only two weeks old . My experience was a genuinely a good one , which is why I put it on the list. It's a shame others haven't had such a good experience there. There are a lot of other yokochos in Tokyo to check out, but this one was one of the newest. I didn't have a bad time here, but it you don't feel comfortable with the reviews, there are plenty more yokochos to check out ! Hope that cleared things up 👍

Yea, Ginza is still a good area to stay in! There are dozens of great neighborhoods to stay in Tokyo. Personally, I would stay in an area next to a major train station.
