I’ve been on this before. To this day it’s still one of the coolest elevators I’ve seen!
I love it
@@DieselDucy epic
@PAelevators And I wanted to ride a Lexan
@@SirensAndElevators i want to ride that elevator too.
Don't beat yourself up over that! This elevator video is worth this national day in the US because it's a very true treasure, or say "goldmine".
thanks :)
What an epic beauty!!
Happy 4th of July!!!! Nice find!!
thanks!
From another video I saw that this was installed in 1910. For 1910 this was insanely advanced, with 2 speed logic and automatic push button logic. How amazing and a true show of American engineering. Happy 4th
I believe it was originally manual, and upgraded to automatic operation later on
I believe so. Sam may know more about it.
@@DieselDucy I wonder what brand is this?
This thing is both fascinating and amazing!
It was epic!
Diesel Ducey, this is extraordinary & such a rarity & great find! Thanks for the video

It was my favorite in Chicago.

These are definitely fast for a winding drum. Epic motor startup too!
Yes they are!
It’s amazing the speed it’s running these days, I thought it would be slower.
it was very fast.
I Love Your Channel
Absolutely stunning. And happy fourth to you good sir 🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@DieselDucy You can say that again! I've never seen anything like it!
ABSOLUTELY EPIC! It’s in a apartment building right?

Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸
thanks!
Epic elevator the manuel shaftdoors outside are very interesting.I love it.
Glad you like them!
Amazing! This is plenty "special" for me! How beautiful! 🇺🇲
thanks!
I'm just amazed this elevator is still allowed to operate. Looks amazing!
I know right? This was lightly modded in what appears to be the 60s or 70s. This was my favorite elevator in Chicago.
Wow it really bounces when it levels
it does lol
Incredibly nice elevator, and this is definitely not a winding drum, but a full-scale traction elevator. As with brand, I'm going to say that this might be either an Otis, a Westinghouse K&H (Kaestner and Hecht), or a very early G&S (Gallagher and Speck). By the way, Happy Independence Day!
This is winding drum. You can see the machine below the elevator on the first floor. Unfortunately I didn’t film it
It’s double-geared winding drum installed by Reliance
Quite a dandy birdcage elevator still running well 112 years later, yes build to last. Ten floors. I saw the sheaves and roping anchored to the top of the cab. This installation might have an independent counterweight, not wrapped around the drum. Just two ropes on the cab, going to the drum, wrapped around.
I wish i had looked at the drive system better.
I’d love to see this one day
Not gonna happen
this is in a private building. NOT easy to get to.
@@jacksonslaterelevatorraila6444 well if you don’t have the mental capacity to formulate an understandable sentence, you surely aren’t able to get into a building like this
@@SPS8elevatorsoflakecounty I filmed in a private paper mill there largest freighter having a capacity of 40’000 lbs. also featured Fast Kones with hazardous location fixtures so yeah I think I can formulate an understandable sentence. Good day to you!!
@@jacksonslaterelevatorraila6444 filming a paper mill has nothing to do with forming a sentence
Surprisingly fast for a 2 speed
it was!
Happy 4th July day
thanks!
Imagine if a bird went on this
LOL
Are you going to do a 4th of July video?
this was it :(
Ok
Never seen an elevator like that one before.
Lifts are so cool in the 🇺🇸
i love ones in Europe :)
This is a reliance elevator, the panel was replaced by standard
Thanks for the info! Winding drum I assume?
@@DieselDucy yes. The motor is tandem geared too if memory serves me right
a school with a birdcage lift wow
