    We take the Stroopwafels and put them over the top of a hot cup of coffee or tea. It makes them the perfect temperature

    Needs another coat. Back brush with a broom dunked in water. Goes fast and looks great. Put it on much heavier. Wet walls before applying next coat. Helps adhesion. Vinny

    Ooh, you got *Stroopwafels* and other typical Dutch stuff, nice. Eating one now with Dutch Mocca Coffee (Douwe Egberds)⬅Brand, very nice to go with those Stroopwafels. Eet smakelijk, Groeten uit Nederland.

    Windows breaking is due to direct stressing of the glass. This is why windows and doors are installed within bucks as casings. The slight gap eliminates the stress on the glass, and allows window and door opening over time independent of settling of the building.

    These Dutch waffle things are called "stroopwafels". You can eat them just like this, thats what they're made for. But warm they are even better!What is really nice, is warming them up over a cup of tea or coffee. Me and my family do this a lot. Just lay them on top of the mug, so they'll slightly warm and turn over when its starting to be soft in the middle. When its too soft/warm to lay on top its the best! Plus your tea/coffee will be at a drinkable temperature ;) enjoy!

    Good to see the Dutch treats make their way across the world. I hope you enjoyed the syrup wafels (Dutch: Stroopwafel). I only eat them warm (not hot) when they are freshly baked. Normally I would eat them cold. And... one is never enough.

    the building could be shifting sideways causing the window frames to move out of square causing the glass to crack. maybe hanging a plumb bobs of sorts from top to bottom and make a mark where the bob points and see if it's changing.
    looking great

    I like Brysons new hair style, looks great, and those waffles are amazing with a cup of coffee. If you set it on top of a fresh hot mug of coffee for about 30 seconds it melts the caramel the perfect amount.

    hhahahaha stroopwafels!! :D now we're talking! Make a cup of tea and lay the wafel on the glass. The steam will heat it up and make the 'stroop' melt a little. The best way to eat it!

    I love those dutch patties, they are quite common here in Canada. When I use to drive truck I would make deliveries into a small family run operation back in Ontario near London if I am remembering correctly, they would always give me a case of fresh ones right off the line...still warm.....oooooohhhhhhh go so well with my tea..

  • @ladyofquills

      @@KimandFrank I am actually not sure where to get them in the states, but you could try the food section at Ikea, because sometimes they carry things like that there. Otherwise, I'd look for any sort of specialty food type store or section, I guess? I think they're from Belgium or the Netherlands, but I don't know. Good luck!

  • @timkirkpatrick9155
    @timkirkpatrick9155 7 років тому

    An addendum to previous window problem. If you placed inoperable windows in bucking with adhesive, the heat changes will break the glass because the edges are fixed and cannot move with expansion and contraction. I learned this the hard way in my passive solar house with fixed windows. The retaining casing deteriorated and made them leak. I, stupidly caulked them back in place. Didn't leak but heat expansion broke the thermal pane outer layer.
    Place the windows in a slip frame with felt or weatherstrip foam as a edge mount allowing the glass to move in expansion/contraction. Allow about 1/4 inch/36in.of window dimension.

    • @mylittlehomestead
      @mylittlehomestead  7 років тому

      The first window breakage was prior to installation. The second was installed and was cracked within 8 hours. It is possible that they were cracked in transport to the homestead.

    Waffles look mouth watering! My Aunt Helen has a Beagle that has separation anxiety & howls when Aunt Helen is not around. She was a drop off & old. The dog, not my Aunt Helen. LOL. Not counting the seams, what is the measurement of the cob/mud thickness over the bag? Did not know if there is an ideal thickness that protects bags plus will not crack too badly over time? Y'all R doing an awesome job! ! My son had 2 grow out his hair 4 a theater production & I have not seen him N a few months. He comes hm next Thursday. Production is N May. Trying 2 B supportive! I’ve really enjoyed your projects. I look forward to your Fri videos. Great channel!
    I’m having some concerns on the MusArt Bldg. While considerable shifting/settling could be expected from an earth bag structure, it appears the roof may be starting to ‘squat’ causing the exterior walls to push out more than expected. I’m afraid this is going to get worse before it gets better …

    Um. We have those waffles here, in America. They come in different flavors of filling but caramel is usually the most common. You make yourself a nice hot cup of tea..or coffee or other hot beverage then place the waffle on top of your cup. The heat from your hot beverage will melt the caramel inside. Yum! Beware...though...the sugar content is not for the weak of heart...seriously! If you to try them without going to the Netherlands then you can easily find them at Roses IGA supermarket or TJ MAXX or the HOMEGOODS Store. They are about $4 a box..or bag. TBH...I can only choke down 1 or 2 bites & I'm done. They are just way to sweet 4 me despite their ooey gooey deliciousness.

    Hey I have been watching your videos and I really enjoy them. I looked into Straw Bale houses, EarthShip houses as well as your earth bag houses ! I do have some complaints though ! I wait all week for an 11 minute video ?????? !!!!!!!!!!! It makes no sence why I wait so eagerly for such a short video ! Can't you make them a full half an hour before the slips ? I live in Kingman Az and it looks a lot like where ever you are at ! Maybe what you could do to raise money for more rooms is do a weekend class or a week long class and charge a $100.00 for the class ! You are definately into a great thing. How does your county do building permitts for the bag houses ? With the cost and ability to save money on heating and cooling it a great way to go.
    Anyway I really like your channel and videos so give it a try on a 1/2 hour to 45minutes per episode ! I promise I will watch them ! Keep on cobbing !

      cody cheney - hey Cody, we are in Golden Valley. I'm looking into doing a earth bag garage and workshop with maybe a little studio apartment on it as well. We have a mobile on 10 acres but no garage and my overpriced 10x18 Weather King shed just isn't cutting it for a shop.
      My sister looked into doing a straw house here back in 1999 and no permits were needed. In fact their are 2 homes near here that were built from bales and look great. I'm positive permits are needed now I just don't know the requirements or limits. I'm sure some of it could be fudged such as running power, water, etc afterwards.
