I am an Recovered Addicted and went into the prison systems as a Substance abuse counselor. My PhD is in the Humanities, Social Behavior and Community Leadership Specialization. I work as a clinical nursing manager, and as an adjunct professor for a nursing school every now and then. It is sad to know that a PhD in academia is not as valuable. I make more money as a clinical manager.

Great video but I never thought a PhD holder would be stuck in figuring out especially that they are learners and must provide solutions to benefit others but hey I think that's where the need for the superior unseen comes. As humans we can achieve all we think is great but the will of he that created us gives us much more. My prayer is one day I should be a PhD holder. I'm at a stage in life where I feel like I have outgrown what I do and nerd to move further. May the lord help me to attain my highest potential. Thanks for the video

Do the figures given compare favourably with, say, the UK? (i.e. are the advantages of having a PhD analogous across the pond?). Or is this strictly for the US? Obviously British PhDs are a lot shorter at just about 3 or 4 years so I wonder if that comes with different challenges/advantages
Great question - yes, this is comparable. A PhD is valuable regardless and many of our UK Cheekies have these skills and report finding excellent employment.
I am a MD. I have what in the medical community in the USA is called an International Medical Graduate Degree. I have yet to do my residency training in USA. I was wondering if having an MD was valuable when applying for MSL?

I am not sure about what field you are talking about but in the engineering field, with a BS you can easily make more money than someone with a PhD; because in industry experience matters A LOT; and sometimes a bit more than education. In my first engineering job, just with a B.S , I was making less than than 58k, after working there for 2 years I switched jobs and start making almost what you said someoen with a PhD will be making. Now, I am only saying this because if you are thinking about getting a PhD for the money, you are doing it wrong. If you trully care about money then get a BS in Engineering work in industry for a few years and then get an MBA. I can guarante that with 3~5 years of experience + MBA you will be making over 100K. Note, I have nothing against PhD's. In fact, I will be quiting my job in a few months and taking an 80% paycut to pursue a PhD. I am not pursuing a PhD for the money, I am pursuing a PhD because I love learning, mentoring, research something that nobody else has done and my dream job is to become a professor! It trully annoys me when someone thinks that getting a PhD will get you a lot of money, thats not true and I have seen it! I work with PhD's, MS's and BS's everyday! Please, if you are pursuing a PhD solenly for the money; do yourself a favor and just quit after the MS and get an industry job.

Whether or not the priority is to make lots of money, there isn't room for all PhDs to stay in academia - especially in a high paying job with job security. Best of luck with your PhD!
but what if the Ph.D is obselete because superceding technology and processes are favored by the world instead and the only reason why they would take you is because they feel bad and have mega money but your Ph.D isn't smart to pay for anymore? like how small business mom and pop shops were then Walmart came in and people argue saying how they can use the extra money to pay for blah blah stuff?
I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to highlight, Anthony, but a PhD holder possesses valuable skills beyond whatever his/niche area of focus may be. We've helped thousands of PhDs move into successful industry careers, regardless of major or research background.
